    PATCH 1.2 CHANGES: Zippy Magic does NOT work with Vital Strike or Kinetic Blasts anymore, so for these builds, I recommend you go instead with Trickster Vital Striker or Demon Kineticist, and I already have guides for both of them!

    My favorite Azata build is Wizard - Elemental Specialist (Fire)>AT. It converts Chain Lightning to fire and dips into CB Sorc to stack 3 (w/ a Mythic Feat) fire bloodline dice. With Metamagic and Ring of Pyromania + Mallander's Insult + Ambrosial Attire of Arcane Annihilation the AOE damage is great.

    Three important things the video does not mention about Aivu's Breath Attack:
    - She has no daily cast limit. It is only limited by a 1d4 round Cooldown, so she can use it once or twice every single fight
    - it deals Sonic Damage, which few Enemies are resistant to
    - In the beginning it deals Friendly Fire, but once you reach Mythic 5 when stepping into the Abyss, Aivu learns a new feat that removes the Friendly Fire, making it absolutely safe to use

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Před 2 lety +1

      Her breath can become useful indeed, I'm just not a fan of how it's once per round, meanwhile she can attack quite a lot of times through melee.
      But it can help clearing enemies off AoE wise.

    BTW in the 2 years since this guide was written, fauchards have been recategorized as Exotic and are no longer available to starting builds as a specialisation. So, instead for any polearm centric build I suggest starting with Glaive as the specialisation. I state this because in the prologue at the start the weapons chest has a cold iron glaive which provides at least in my opinion the highest damage weapon out of, well, everything up until you reach the Maze. After that you'll want to grab Marching Terror off the Prologue Final Boss.
    Another melee build to consider would be:
    Cavalier - Disciple of the Pike Sword Order if you plan to not recruit Wenduag; Considering you'll be a Azata goodie two shoes, this is highly likely to be the case. You won't start with a mount, but you won't need one at the start, you plan to eventually ride into battle on Aivu; The Disciple of the Pike has 1.5x the damage multipliers as normal Cavalier charge bonuses from mounted combat, so if you plan to use polearms and go Azata, there is little point picking any other subclass as you won't need your mounted combat feats and the Sword Order bonus to mounted charge until you can ride Aivu into battle near the end of the game. Before that point, be a pole arm wielding giant slayer with massive damage multipliers to big enemies.

    It would've been interesting if Azata had special Bard synergies similar to how Angel synergizes with Cleric and Oracle.
    Given the thematics of the Azata's abilities and Spell List I could have seen it being able to Merge Spellbooks with Bard, and also have it's songs benefit from some of the Bard stuff (I.E. the fact that Bards can start their songs as a Bonus Action)

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Před 2 lety +13

      I also would have really liked if some of the other Mythics had merging based on their themes such as Azata and Bard as you said.
      Also something like Aeon & Inquisitor.

    • @bulthaosen1169
      @bulthaosen1169 Před 2 lety +1

      Oh speaking of synergies gold dragon has good ones too. Mine was a crossblooded sorcerer 1/scaled fist 1/eldritch scion 10/dragon disciple 4/ pick your choice for the remaining. I took mutation warrior 4 for fighter feats. Vivi or bloodrager too is fine I guess. Can you still stack bites?
      I don't know if it's a bug or not but you can choose 2 dragon bloodlines plus an abyssal without mythic. But there is a specific order.
      Get the blue in crossblooded first and black dragon in DD. Use the bracers that convert all spell energy damage to electric and elemental barrage mythic. Activate acid claws and enhance with fire/electric/ice plus dimension strike plus spell combat.
      Haven't tested it fully yet. But if everything works this will be a very good build. This way atleast I don't have to be a big ass dragon all the time. And when I do it still kicks ass.
      Sadly mine is not the optimum build. The ideal will be to pick trickster and get trickster improved critical feats for either the bite or claws. Ah well will do that on my next run. And respec right before the end of act 4.

    Zippy Magic with Chain Lightning can have the potential to clean half the map if the density is good enough. I tried a maximized empowered bolstered Chain Lightning on the flesh market and half of them died outright and the others went below half in the first round.

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Před 2 lety

      Yep, that can be pretty powerful as well.
      In this case, I focused on area debuffs/instant kills + single target damage for the spellcaster build. As I didn't get to pick Ascendant Element Electricity, I didn't bother with Chain Lightning.
      But as you said, it's certainly very viable and fun.

    • @chronoschord
      @chronoschord Před 2 lety

      @@cRPGBro I agree with the single target damage thing, since lightning is severely lacking in that department. TTRPGs seem to favor fire over anything else. I just like to respect and try out builds at certain points in the game, and while it isn't the highest output, that particular setup with Zippy and Chain Lightning is arguably the highest aoe damage in one round I've seen. But for sustained damage over rounds, of course Kineticist with 3 AoEs in one place is king, since you can also use other spells and abilities while the triple whammy do its thing.

    Thoughts on Superpower:
    I agree that Life-Bond Friendship isn't as OP as people put it out to be cuz it doesn't stack with last stand and you die after an encounter but it's still the best superpower: 3*6 free feats for your party
    All-Skilled is situational since you still need weapon/armor proficiencies but the extra skill check is nice for things like Mounted Combat/Indomitable Mount especially once they worked properly
    Marvelous Endurance is more than banner: it's 6*5+5 HP/round which is really solid, definitely necessary for a tank build but may not be the most important for others
    Supersonic is garbage I agree.
    Favorable and zippy magic are a must if playing as a caster. I think the best fit is Court Poet Skald (+8 Charisma) with dips into cross-blooded sorcerer, nature oracle, and maybe scaled-fist. The extra duration on Azata songs have great synergy.

    hello!, absolutely best content on internet for Pathfinder WOTR! How would you do sylvan sorcerer who focus on evocation damage instead of illusion and utilization of zippy-magic? the feat progression could be similiar?- but i would take instead of bolster magic->empower magic; Also should I take point-blank shot and precise shot? then 1st mythic feat: abundant casting or ascendant element (fire or ligtning?)? then expanded arsenal (evocation) then improved abundanting casting and greater abundant casting? or how would you do it and also how to prioritize mythic feats? (abundant casting/asendant element, expanded arsenal)? thanks!

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Před 2 lety

      Hi there, and thank you for the nice comment & support!
      For Evocation, I would keep Bolster, and also pick Spell Penentration + Mythic Spell Penetration earlier.
      You can increase the damage by using the Devouring Lust metamagic rod in Chapter 3 that auto maximizes spells of any level 6/day which is great.
      I still recommend keeping Spell Focus + Greater Focus Conjuration if you are playing from level 1, because early game Evocation spells are very bad, while Conjuration is great!
      So just use Expanded Arsenal to get Conjuration Focus you picked applied to Evocation later.
      Point Blank + Precise is only needed if you plan on using ranged touch attacks like Hellfire Ray - but you can get enough bonuses to hit it even without them since you still target touch AC. It's a matter of tastes, I think. And also if you plan to attack with a bow or crossbow, for this build I went with melee weapons instead with reach.
      Ascendant Element Fire is great, and so is Lightning.
      But for Lightning, I think you can just use the Devouring Lust Rod as well, because it changes elemental damage into Unholy, which enemies don't tend to resist, I think.
      First Mythic depends on what you want to focus, if you want to use fire spells from the early game, then you should pick Ascendant Fire.
      Abundant Casting line should be a priority for a caster as it increases your spell uses so you can spam them even more before resting!

    I started my Azata run just now, and after 3 whole chapters I was really disappointed to see how they nerfed Aivu so much since the date of this video, limiting her caster levels was like taking her wings off!! Playing on unfair, i am thinking Aivu is very useless now, she can't replace the role of a full caster buffer, and is no better then a normal animal companion like the dog or the wolf. Honestly, i played almost all starter mitych path, except demon, and Azata is by far the weaker in my opinion, it takes forever to get the good spells, the Azata songs is really disapponting and just one or two Azata superpower is trully usefull. Maybe i am just upset to discover the nerfs now, in the middle of chapter 4. Whit the rigth build Azata can still be good and really fun to play, and still the funniest mithyc path roleplaywise for me.

      Aivu can still hit 32 BAB and get many attacks/round, but sadly her AC won't ever match the normal pets.

    Hello CRPG bro, I just accidentally found out something stupidly OP that I am nearly certain has to be a bug. Like, stronger than anything I've seen you show strong. I just dropped the Umbral dragon on core in a single round. You've helped me, so I will share it.
    Basically, its Azata Zippy Magic + Cave fangs. You can spam cave fangs, no roll to hit, no spell resist, reflex save for half of 3d6 physical damage. Some things will take the physical damage, but the main point is to "copy" it with zippy magic, because its "force" damage, which nothing resists. I just downed the umbral dragon with that combo in round 1, it just took like 50 clicks, and it took 3d6 force damage per click. And there's really nothing any enemy can do about it... It's more or less like infinite magic missiles.
    Honestly, I think it's kind of broken, but I like to think of it as payback for the recent Azata nerfs. Hope you enjoy!

      I have a video on Cave Fangs cheese here: czcams.com/video/tE7hw_4f9FY/video.html
      But I never thought about using it with Zippy Magic.
      One thing I can tell you is that you can make it bypass enemy resistance to physical and ALSO highly increase the damage by combining it with Paladin Mark of Justice!
      So it seems the best way is Mark of Justice + Zippy Magic!

I have used similar crit builds for sword saint before, but with that you can always rely on True Strike or Prescient strike to hit very AC enemies. Does this build rely on guarded hearth or some other abilities from other classes (skald, etc)? Great videos as always man, keep it up!

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi there, and thank you for the comment.
      Fighter will certainly have enough AB to hit mid & late game enemies considering it's a high BAB class with extra bonuses to hit from Weapon Training, Greater Weapon Focus and in the case of Mutation Warrior, extreme STR.
      Of course, your AB will be highly increased with support from other party members like Domain Powers & Spells. The build assumes you are going with a party and not soloing. For a tolerable solo experience, I would consider merged casters that can also melee just fine like Lich or Angel Oracle.
      Azata is even special in that you can eventually refresh the abilities per day of your party members, so you even get multiple casts of Guarded Hearth, Magus Abilities, Smite Evil and so on.
      Note that you won't need to constantly have ALL the buffs on, some of them such as Fortune Hex & Guarded Hearth can easily be saved for bosses or very tough encounters only.
      Even on Unfair, most of the generic enemies don't have extreme AC, besides bosses and special enemies such Vavakia Vanguard.

      @@cRPGBro Fair enough, I don't typically play non magic martial classes so I was thinking about how Playful Darkness, or the Blightmaw Fights would go, as they have high AC for their levels. Seeing how zippy magic works with vital strike/cleaving finish really changed my perspective towards melee centred Azatas, its a great combo honestly.

      Mighty Blow of Good is +2 by default but has higher enhancement value here because of the Greater Magic Weapon spell: it will stack with your weapon enhancement up to a max of +5 as I explain here:
      czcams.com/video/oiGnC1XQJe8/video.html
      So with GMW and a CL of at least 12 (for +3 since it's +1 per 4 CL), you can turn Mighty Blow into a +5 weapon!

      The normal Magic Weapon spell also does it, but it's just a static +1.

      For a solo character, and a solo Paladin, I wouldn't bother with Teamwork Feats, unless you get the Horse/another pet, then you will still be able to to get good use out of Outflank at the very least.
      There won't be much of a point in picking something like Dazzling Display and Shatter Defenses, as you only have one character.

      Personally, I think Paladin will have somewhat of a tough time.
      I'd leave solo for hybrid spellcasters, especially the ones that can merge with Lich & Angel since you really can use the spell boost.

      My favored caster classes have always been CC + debuff so besides Hellfire Ray spam for great single target damage, I've not really tried a caster (besides Kineticist) that is focused on AoE damage. Something to consider on a future Build Guide for sure!

      @@ThelostPenguin0 Yes! I played Azata Elemental Specialist Wizard - Fire>Arcane Trickster. It was strong (too strong in Act 4/5). You can convert Chain Lightnings to fire and dip into Crossblooded Sorcerer for +3 fire dice. Arcane Trickster nets you Ambrosial Attire of Arcane Annihilation, which is another +1 fire dice. When inflicting fire damage, Ring of Pyromania is 1D6 +5 and Mallander's Insult is 2D6. So Chain Lightnings at level 20 (Spell Specialization Chain Lightning) will do 20D6 + 80 + 1d6 + 5 + 2D6 before Metamagic, Zippy Magic, and Sneak Attack.
      With Quicken Metamagic, Sorcerous Reflexes, or Rod + Zippy, that hits 4 times in 1 round (though, everything will probably be dead by the 2nd hit). By late game, each arc of Chain Lightning was doing ~400-450 damage with Metamagic (~1600-1800/round using rods). Ember and Camellia can also have Vulnerability Curse for even more damage. Incredible Might affects rays, so I was also one-shotting a lot of things (including bosses) with Scorching Ray and Hellfire Ray.

    Thanks to the drop of the new update, I've decided to replay WOTR.

    Im going for an Azata playthrough next and I'm planning to combine it with your Throwing Axe Skald build.
    Very thematic in my opinion.

      It is true that Azata has vastly better synergy with melee or casting.

      You can also combine it with the Triceratops pet from Bismuth Statue. But just Skald Pounce + Heroic Might Superpower proccing multiple times can be very powerful.

    I don't really understand the shared teamwork feat of azata thing. But I think it is super good but you don't seem to think so. If you pick a feat for example shake it off. Everyone in the team will get the effect if you (azata) stand near another character regardless of their position or it work as pseudo feat for everyone else in the team and they only get the feat effect when they are near another character? Either way it is a feat save for the entire team right? It seems very good for me as each team has 6 members(including you) plus companions (not sure if summon get it) so I think is a huge deal.

      Life Bonding free teamwork feats for all party can be good, it's just that my builds tend to get the best teamwork feats already during the early levels, before you'd be Mythic Rank 4, and also because it's an Azata unique thing and my builds tend to be for any Mythic.
      Good choices if following my build would be Allied Caster & also Precise Strike as I don't tend to get these feats.

    Anyways I somehow disagree with all-skilled up. The thing is by the time you get it, you probably have weapon focuses on certain weapon and if you don't chances are you are a character that doesn't rely on autoattacking anyway... As far as the skills are concerned you can just save-scum them... The only possible usefulness of that superpower that I can think of is if (and I say IF cuz I am not sure) it allows for example a druid to wear plate armor, thus making him a viable shapeshifter frontline character. Life -bonding friendship was not nerfed, it was fixed, cuz before it used charisma instead of charisma modifier, so it was just broken and not working as intended :)

      I imagine the character build chosen here that would suffer the most from that is Kineticist, as Azata wouldn't really offer anything unique to them and the main reason for going Azata Kineticist is certainly blast hitting twice.
      The 2H Fighter would lose some damage without Vital Strike hitting twice, however, it's already a massive damage build by default and you still have the fully powered Cleaving Finish feat line to get more attacks/hits. @@cRPGBro Just smashed playful darkness on hard. It was helarious :D Prescient attack can attack flat-footed, even if they have foresight + You have dimension strike, which targets touch AC... Honestly the kit of magus is kinda overloaded. Not to mention elemental barage, which I still haven't leveled up, but it will make it even more ridiculous since you can add 3 elemental enchants on your weapon... I am 100% sure that this build will be unfair viable if you go trickster :)

      unfortunately, no.
      Bombs by default have a small splash area so count as aoe abilities I suppose.
      Sadly even if you use the Targeted Bomb spell that makes them single target only, Zippy Magic will not work with bombs.

      Just the usual: Stoneskin, Resist + Protection from Energy and also Skald Rage for a little bit.
      Legendary Proportions too but I don't think it stacks with Stoneskin, it's just better since it doesn't have a cap.

      There's a lot of gear to buff spell DC, mostly Display of Power Belt, Quarterstaff of the War Mage, Glass Amulet of Clarity etc

    Considering most of your builds (including pets) tend to dedicate 2+ feats to teamwork. I'm honestly kind of shocked you find so little utility in sharing the teamwork feats. If you plan for this from the start, thats a lot of extra feats across your party, and makes other teamwork feats more useful.

    • @Cuiva
      @Cuiva Před 2 lety

      I agree! Although cRPG's builds get the relevant TW feats before Mythic 3, that's saving 3 feats. Some builds are really feat starved, and some have a fairly set progression, only opening up for personal taste in selection in the last two feats. I'd really reconsider the value on Life-Bonding Friendship. Especially if you run a main character that gets TW feats for "free" (hunter, inquisitor, et.c.).

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Před 2 lety

      I suppose it is because most of my builds for companions and such are generic in that they are meant to work on any Mythic Path, so I tend to pick the main teamwork feats by default.
      Also, I find it very hard not to get Zippy Magic/Favorable Magic at 4 and Incredible Might at 6, but all the builds I chose had great synergy with Zippy or Favorable, but I understand Life Bonding can be a lot more useful for other builds.
      Personally, because I mostly leave tanking to pets, my characters also don't tend to be that feat starved and they tend to get the main 3 Teamwork feats before Mythic 4 as well.

    ok so this class is worthless gotcha if your playing a spellcaster demon would be the better option and if your playing melee or bow trickster is the best if your playing a specialized hellfire wizard then devil is the best and any healer class its angel,undead build spellcaster is lich and i dont know about dragon cause i hardly see anyone play it.

    I picked Azata for my first playthrough but then replayed 4 hours to go angel instead because I hated Aivu so much. Its like being trapped in a game with Dragon Joss Whedon who has an endless supply of cocaine. Very strong mythic though.
    Didn't know that about All Skilled, I thought it was like BG2 Use any item.
    Was kind of surprised you didn't care for life bonding friendship. That's free feats for all the melee. It doesn't matter so much to fighter classes who have so many feats but to a Seelah that's a lot of room to work with. Depends on if you are willing to cheat a respec though. if you take the team work feats early and do not respec it is a dead super power. Personally I don't feel bad about freely respecing at all even if the rules don't like it. Building and rebuilding characters is a core component of the game for me.
    My casters tend to be ray casters (There is some fuzzyness there at early levels) so I would always have the point blank and precise early. But that's a me problem.
    Also stacking mutagens was hysterical.

      I personally also thought All Skilled would be like Use Any Item, so it kinda surprised me to know you can't wear the Monk specific Robes for example.
      I guess Aivu is a personal choice, hah, I know many end up liking her personality which kinda fits the Friendship theme they have going for Azata.
      I think when it comes to Life Bonding, my characters often have the good teamwork feats by level 6-9 or so, so it doesn't matter that much to me.
      And yep, the stacking Mutagen "feature" is crazy indeed. Really surprised me when I realized you could stack the Natural AC bonus and also the Mutagen highest boost to ability score with the Azata ability refresh spell, which is still very strong even without it, as we can also restore uses of Smite Evil, Magus abilities, Domain Powers and so on.
