RAW: How A River Wave Forms Part 2
Vložit
- čas přidán 6. 11. 2021
- From start to finish, this video shows how a small Creek is damed up by a sand berm with a high tide and big swell. Next, the water begins to seep over the Sand berm and form a trench. The rest of the work is done by gravity. The waves that are formed for the outflow of water are very dangerous. The people in this video are very experienced and know when the rapids are too dangerous to cross or be in. If you are ever at the beach when this happens I advise you to keep a safe distance between yourself and this body of water. I have seen too many people get very close to drowning because they do not understand the raw power of this situation.

When I was young, I suppose around 10 yo, there was a creek about a mile back in the woods. It wasnt much of a creek, but after a really hard rain there was one spot that would fill up and make about a 4ft deep pool that we all used to swim in. We rode our bikes back there one day after an especially hard rain and were having a blast. I jumped in from a small embankment beside the creek and the front of my foot landed on a large rock and when I came down on it my Achilles Tendon was torn from the back of my leg. I had to scoot my self back home using my good foot on my bike, it was brutal. I wore a cast on my leg for 8 months after they reattached the tendon. Fortunately your body is very resilient at that age and I havent had any problems with my leg later in life. The scary part is how far back in the woods we were. Had it happened in someones front yard it would have been no big deal. It took me hours to make it back, I was in considerable pain and my foot was just dangling.
Steve’s one tuff mammy jammy! Genuinely, good on ya!
Fck that I got a problem wth my Achilles couldn’t imagine ripping it 😬
@@69minutes Thanks, but my options were pretty limited. If I could have sat there and cried I likely would have. LOL
How u doin today? If that was me I would've had trauma riding a bike in the rain or something.
@@carlolomo8971 Great?? You?? Yes, riding the bike in the rain was the traumatic part, thank you for asking.
I really like the way you showed how the sand moves when the River tide goes out and comes in…it moves a lot…love your content Blair…your the best!!!
Thanks Stealthman. I made this video myself so I appreciate the feedback
@@SkidKids I'm just curious what you think of all the people that lose their minds and basically think you guys are some kind of ecological terrorist when you dig that out to get it going. I'm sure you have seen the comments by people that think just because you dig it out that it's a terrible thing and you are irresponsible for doing it. Its obvious as to the natural process happening regularly here but like I said your videos sure do bring out the craziest people in the comments. I'd love to here your thoughts.
@@bobjakubowski1024 Some people are so desperate to have something to be offended by they will just make stuff up. Pay them no mind, this is a natural occurrence and the kids are having a blast.
This looks so fun bro! Thanks for filming this too btw! I learned a lot of cool stuff. Subbed. Keep shredding 🤘.
Awesome! Loved the time-lapse. I've never seen that happen before. Very cool, thanks!
At 2:31 Blair you should skim that all the way down into a wave BUT I don’t skimboard I just surf. You’re the man at it and your content is always good so keep up the great work 🤙
Watching Blair and Kai always makes me smile!
I've only been skimming for 2.5 months and already way better than surfing. Keep up the good work Blair and Kai
Sam
I just said the same thing to my wife an hour ago! In LOVE
Amazing content Blair!!! Lots of love from Mozambique!!
Love to see my native Aliso Creek featured! That shorebreak is nuts, especially during huge south swells. Also brought back lots of memories of opening up the creek mouth. Didn't smell too good though haha.
I was wondering about the smell, thanks for confirming
Hey guys,
Thanks for sharing the Stoke!
Cheers from Australia 🍻👍
Thats a mutant river wave blair
So cool thanks for the great footage 🌊😁🏄🏻♂️the inside was not to bad either.
DOPE! epic creek sesh, these are probably some of my best rides on it. need a smaller board.
Yeah Frank! Sorry I didnt get your board!
I always wondered exactly how this river break formed (from watching both you and JOB). I knew it was a build up of water but always thought it came mainly from the river. Now thanks to this video and explanation i realise it's because of a mixture of events, mainly based around the high tide. (If I've taken this up wrong please let me know). As someone from Ireland, we don't really get a buildup of water like this anywhere, as shorebreak waves like this don't really exist. I really love seeing how you analyze the conditions/waves also and that this video shows how it evolves over time. As a lifeguard/surfer/new skimmer, i can appreciate how understanding these conditions helps you make the most of them. #quality
Thanks Grady! You are correct in saying the Shorebreak and tides play a huge roll in the build up of water and sand. Glad I was able to share some knowledge about conditions with you
@@SkidKids Dude I love your content it make me remember the good times with my dad but I miss him but is how it is tho.. keep it up..

What is this place called?
I’m from Northern Ireland which is pretty close to Ireland and this is very true 🇮🇪
Hells yeah, that was awesome! loved the time-lapses too, cheers
Oh damn, this is the same place as the other video. I guess this is a fairly regular occurrence here?? Very cool!! I have never saw this until I found your channel.
Awesome video it looks like fun!!!🌴🌊🌴
Love the old style of raw video from you Blair. Reminds me of the OG skid kids, how was that slab of beefs ...hahaha
Slab of Beefs was looking good hahah! Glad you are stoked on this style of video. I edited and filmed most of it myself which is not the usual haha
How many times a year does this creek gets damed up? just curious because I saw many such videos recently
I absolutely love your content and your calm strong demeanor but without the screaming in the hype and the jumping up and down and flapping your arms that I really appreciate you just being humble :-)
Dig the vid. Always wondered how it filled back up. 🤙🏼
Skai is going to need to get another wet suite before to long. That second skin has has seen some action. Great to see the creek in it's various forms too. That looks like a lovely place to spend time.
I am a newbie from the 🇬🇧 . Just love your videos.
This is so rad !!!
I'm from Canada, we have a couple of surf spots here, but when I was a kid I would go visit family in Carpinteria California, and I remember that was a gnarly surf town
Sick snaps from river skimming! 👌🏽😎👊🏽
love your videos
Ultimate river ride--surfing/skimming/body boarding down each stepped peak in the river then right into a huge shorebreak barrel.
Looking through the comments I can't help but wonder am I the only one that feels complete panic just thinking about being in these waves 😶
Respect for being so fearless, I would not even go close to these waves 😅
I love this thank you for your video
It’s so mesmerizing watching nature do it’s thing it’s done for millions and millions of years!
*Damn thanks for the ASMR bro. I use this video to help me sleep.*
EPIC BTW MY BROTHER SAW YOU YESTERDAY I WAS SO SAD I WASNT THERE KEEP IT UP :D
This would be so fun to see, where is it? Just found your page, subscribed. Love that there is no long drawn out nothing, no loud crazy music or obnoxious demeanor. Just fun to watch. Wish I was healthy to do play like ya'll do!
That little boy is flipping adorable!!!
Good stuff!
15:33 Kai just got took by the stream love the video
Crazy waves man. God bless you idol.
I have two questions, where is it and is it often made into a river wave. Because it is my dream to surf one of these.
Its Aliso Beach
Rip taking a walk then coming back and seeing this between you and the other side 😂
Don’t know why I watched this whole thing but it looked cool haha
One of these formed at Sanibel Island Fl when I went on vacation last year. Though the water was filthy a full of tadpoles. I also think the water came from a swamp filled with gators.
Q: "What kind of fish is it?" A: a small one.
Absolutely your amazing its wow
amazing video
Is this like unclogging a river I hope it does not dry out
for what purpose is this? and how can you do it ?
That's looks fun.
Sessssh nice weather for skim 🤙
The fish looks like a baby largemouth bass.
i could watch this for hours
is this place the same place a year ago?
So sick 🤙🤙

@@Xnei-ui3fp same
That was cool to see
Where was this filmed at?
Legit question:
When these washouts happen, does the ocean replace and fill in the sand naturally? Or do they have beach crews replace it?
Ocean replaces the sand within one tide cycle. The sand at these beaches moves very quickly because of how powerful the shorebreak and ocean currents are
@@SkidKids Dang, that's an even doper answer than I thought. Love the content and thanks for the reply!
@@SkidKids how long after the washout does this happen? One wave fixes the erosion?..... why does the river flow likr this?
@@brandonlewis5135 not one wave one tide cycle
@@THIS---GUY oh
Nice one
When I was a kid, a rather narrow but very long and serpentine one of these formed while we were staying at our friend's beach house in Oregon. It was just wide enough for us to ride a cheap Walmart inflatable raft down to the ocean repeatedly. It was a lot of fun. Not nearly that volume of water.
Australia where’s this at… we need one
I'd love to do some kayak surfing in this! It looks super dope!
so this beach is in calliforna but whats the name of it?
awesome
"this is sketchy" log zooms by on cue LOL
So that little stream at the beginning, made this???? Mainey

I thought I recognized that beach! I go there all the time!
Whats it called?
Let's appreciate that this kid at this key did all of that
thanks for picking up the plastic 👍🏻
have you ever gotten in trouble for this? just wondering
I’ve seen that kid at the beach! I live in the same city
That fish took the ride of his life
Man I wished my beaches looked like that
The waves here, instead of being that beautiful clear blue, are like brown and green
What size do you use
Just one simple question
will the water from there not run out?, what if the water there runs out will you be fined?
They wouldn't be fined since it was a natural break. And they got the natural break on camera
Jit was like fuck that I'm not getting that boogie board I'll let the ocean have that one
You should come out and skim Puerto Rico!
One day I will make it out there!
That was interesting. I wondered how they silt back up again.
High tide and Shorebreaks Push the sand back into place pretty much.
Lil bro got that going hell yea
А что дальше будет, закапывают или оно так и дальше будет?
Haha nice bro 😄😄
That little fish was a fresh water one 😢 rip little fish !!
Why am I barely finding this channel??
¡¡¡Que bueno está el rubito!!!!

You gotta go to surf the Pororoca at Amazonas River
What is this place called?
Massa vou comprar uma
I have like a skimboard but it’s full wood is it different
what beach is this
I have a question on how the sand fills that back in is it just the ocean?
The waves drags the sand back up beach really fast.
High tide and strong current
