  • Putting sand on your grass is the best way to level your lawn, you must use top dressing i like 70/30 kiln dried the best, gets into all the nooks and crannies, all you need is a brush to work the sand into your grass.

How best to deal with dandelions? Back garden is about 20m x 18m full of dandelions, tried weed killers, tried using manual hand fork thing and picking them out by the root ( semi worked) , tries continously mowing them to take the head off but now they seem to grow lower than the mower can get to them and tried boiling water to kill them off . I have watered it lightly every morning and evening with flat hose ended spray not used sprinkler yet . Hi Dan, I'm glad to see you seeding with suboptimal temps. In Chicago we've been having a lot of up and down weather and frustrating for seeding.
If you seed when its too cold to germinate (but above freezing) and start watering it, will it still germinate later when it warms up? In other words, is there some "point of no return" for a seed, where it either has to germinate and grow, or will die?

It will grow yes but just gotta be careful of harsh frosts as these could kill the new seed if its just popped, but in england now the temps are above zero in the night more like 7-8

Hi Dan, new to the channel and I’ve seen you use Jacks magic a lot. Question please, once applied will that sink into ground or will that need to be racked back up, if let how long would it reasonably take before grass would start to appear thanks.

Do you ever get a lawn to the point where it doesn’t need something else doing to it?
In the future I think we will look back on aspects of gardening like this and wonder what the hell we were doing.
