@@grigorirasputin425 I Googled your question, here's the response: "Can I maintain a US address even if I live abroad?
Using a virtual mailbox means you will have instant, reliable access to your US mail and can maintain a US address (and US bank accounts) while living abroad. For many expats, these benefits are well worth the minor monthly fees." Sep 15, 2023 Apparently Old Dog uses one. I'm trying to figure out which service is the best for me. Take care.

Great info, Joseph...! That's an issue I'm struggling with. I might end up living in the Philippines until the end of my days and never needing to use Medicare Part B. It would essentially be an unnecessary and potentially costly form of insurance. However, what if I decide to move back to the US? Or what if I simply want to return for a medical procedure or emergency that is routine in the US? So, perhaps it's wiser to err on the side of caution?

This morning Dumaguete residents should be asking themselves if their community would be better off with Mark Thornton or Paul Cardwell. Cardwell might have baggage but he's a likeable, amiable guy and not an evil backstabbing bully like Thornton. I'm guessing Paulie will silence me because he wants to obscure the nasty influence that people like Thornton have imported into his adopted homeland. That's his prerogative.

I get a proof of life certificate every year from the UK. I have to get it signed by some official person i use my doctor to confirm that i am still living. I get 3 months to return it otherwise my pension is stopped. I have to show my passport. So you can't have another person doing it for you . I have to do the same with my German pension 😊😊

Hats off to those that undertake what I would characterize as "Adult Welfare Cases". It should serve as a "Red Flag" to those that don't have the necessary financial stability nor the necessary "Financial Common Sense" not move to any foreign country. It's good that some people have decided to assist and aide these persons that have, for the most part, voluntarily put themselves into bad situations. I have been living in the Philippines for 9 months. The information from channels like Paul's, Jennifer Terri's, and several others helped me greatly in preparing to come to the Philippines. I am returning to the USA in late May and I'm not sure whether I will return. The best part of my Philippines experience has been the weather and the cost of living. It has been my experience that the friendliness of the Philippine people has been greatly exaggerated, bearing in mind I live in the Cebu Metro Area. Congrats to those that have made a successful transition to living in the Philippines.

    😎👍🇺🇲
I recently ran across Ken's story and watched most of the videos.
It really was a remarkable thing Darrick did. Then of course the whole Ground Zero debacle started popping up on my feed. 🙄 OMG people.
    I digress.
He's right. The back story isn't really important at that time.
Ken was so far gone that it didn't really matter if it was most or all of his own doing.
Getting him healthy enough to travel was more important.
I'm sure most of the problems in a foreign country come from being slightly gullible and less aware of the signs. Not to mention. Some old people can get and downright cantankerous. Which can hamper getting assistance.
Ken seemed like a decent old dude. Just got himself in a series of unfortunate circumstance.
That's why these videos are so helpful. They Really give the would-be retiree a leg up on arranging the steady income stream.
Personally, I have a clue what to do now, if choose the peens as a place to go. So much valuable information for us to consider before packing our bags.
I hope to return in the Fall for another investigation vacation. Maybe I'll roll through Dumagety (spelling) for a look see.
Maybe all the drama surrounding Ground Zero will have dissolved by then😏
Anyway. Cheers from Fluffy in the PNW Seattle WA area.✌️

We also see a lot of destitute Ex-pats in Davao City. One of which was a brother of a friend that lost everything (and I mean everything) to a Filipina. I also befriended a German ex-pat that made this mistake of NOT communicating with either the German government or the Australian government where he also was collecting a pension. i am guessing he didn't file taxes as well and this is another reason why he became "cut off" from his pensions and social security. i tried to help him to reconnect with these embassies however he was too cantankerous to assist! He was living in denial while also complaining about his situation! It's very sad to see these people like this. Much respect to Derek for doing what he is doing for his fellow man! Almost forgot - Derek [sp?], you're a bloody legend mate. I'd like to think I'd choose to do the same as you did, what higher purpose is there? None I know of.
Yep, I've met foreigners [in Manila & Balibago] who've gone broke & tell sad 'stories'. Usually, a combo of moral &/or mental weaknesses, alcoholism, drugs & ignoring money absolutely.
A few try the scamming fellow foreigners day to day route to 'survive' ime. It becomes their life, sorta like the carnival pro beggars I guess.
