      I really liked your video, but I am also really confused.
      Like, if you're able to spin off / create an infinite number of "stubs", then what's the whole point? I mean, how do you know which "reality" is real? If that makes any sense.
      Also, what would be the purpose of having an infinte number of stubs to choose to live in when there would already be an infinite number of copies of yourself living in each stub. Rather a silly concept if you ask me.

      @ChrisSmith-tu9bu Před rokem +10

      What confuses me is I understand how they made a stub... it wasnt instantaneous but through manipulation of the past....so theyve made other stubs as well, one in which Flynn presumably transfers her conscious to... but hows that possibly? Then she destroys the RIs ability to track her by destroying a...pocket watch? Huh? How does that work?and how does Lowbeer summon her from this new stub? Again huh

      @Luis Munoz Ok got your points. But I still don't get this. Let's say we are in the stub which is 2030s one(where series began). Now it seems Flynne created a stub and sacrificed herself. So now in our stub there is no Flynn. the stub she created is kind of a copy to our one. let's say the Flynn in that copy took over the mission and she also got the DATA. My questions are assuming this fact. the new stub is like a checkpoint to ours and so it is a exact copy like ours. Why the Conner in that stub does not shoot Flynn? Does Flynn s in both stubs has a mutual understanding? And this is out of context, how will Burton react knowing that he won't see his sister again and his best friend killed her?

      These are the rules, correct me if I am wrong.
      1. At the point of contact to a past time, a stub is created. This can be just watching a video or sending information back. No matter if an individual travels to the future and acquires new information, the stub is set as a deviation from the main timeline.
      2. Contact occurs within a time. When Flynne said Cherise wouldn’t be able to find her without the coordinates, this was based on a particular time when contact was made rather than a physical location.
      3. A stub can be created from an existing stub. (I’ll call it a sub stub)
      4. By extension, a stub can be created within a stub.
      5. Contact can only be made with a time that has the relevant technology. Since it’s a sort of information transfer.
      Conjecture
      I’m assuming it’s roughly around the time the sim technology was introduced. The RI made contact with the stub 10 years prior to the main stub timeline.
      6. Only the research institute has the power to create a new stub (or rather within their confines) and only they can sever the connection with a stub.
      7. Even if a stub is created within the RI, unless the coordinates are mapped there is no way to find the coordinates of the stub.
      conjecture
      It’s possible they can see that a new stub has been created, I would assume it takes up power and resources. Whether or not they can sever the connection with a stub without coordinates is unknown. I would assume not since Flynne was able to access the main timeline from that stub.
      From what I understand, in order for Flynne to save her timeline she sacrificed herself so that the RI had no reason to destroy her family within her timeline. Cherise’s goal was to eliminate the possibility of any other parties (within her own timeline) getting a hold of the research that was lost. This is why she would rather kill Flynne than capture. At this time, the Klepts had access to the stub so it’s what made the most sense.
      *Even if they did manage to kill Flynne, this wouldn’t have any impact on the research being conducted within the stub. They would have still carried on accelerating the jackpot.
      Flynne creates a stub from her own stub using an unknown coordinate. It would make the most sense for contact to be made after the plan with the detective was made and before she was killed. This means that the data in her own stub was destroyed and a whole new stub with said data was created and only the detective has access to this stub (as far as we know). That is the Flynne we saw at the end.
      *Since a sub stub was created within the main timeline out of the stub, access to the sub stub is direct (from the main timeline straight to the sub stub).
      The issue that Cherise and the RI have is that the data would fall into the hands of someone from their timeline who could influence the main timeline. Since another stub was created rather easily, this would mean that they had the power to do this since the data was stolen. To prevent the data leak from being an issue, as soon as they found out the data was in the stub it would have made more sense to sever the connection with the stub as a whole. This would stop any potential factions getting a hold of the data. Even if it were to influence the stub timeline it would make no difference to the main timeline.
      The other option they had from the beginning was to create a new stub from the main timeline before Aelita stole the data. They would have future knowledge of when, where and how the incident would occur. Torture Aelita and ask her where she intended to go and what she wanted to do with the data. She probably wouldn’t say since she knows they have the power to create new stubs, she probably would have come to the conclusion that she then existed within a stub to aid the RI in the main timeline.
      They had the power to create new stubs at any point in the past knowing the outcome. They could have used these stubs to figure out how things would unfold in the present. This was the first thing I thought of rather than doing unethical research but both are a good use of stubs I guess.
      *This also means that they would have an infinite number of backups of the research within other stubs.
      Going forward, it would seem the RI have been put in an impossible situation. However, if they utilise the method above there is literally no way they can lose unless they fall within one incident.

    Her plan, the way she described it, is to fix her "black hole" problem. In her gaming world, it's a term that means a point where there is zero chance of success because of something done or not done much earlier in the game that has automatically doomed the player without her knowing before it was too late. So the new stub will send her to an earlier episode (possibly episode 1) this time armed with the information of how to not repeat the earlier specific lethal error in judgement. The only records of her choice for point of respawn (new stub's location in time and space) were in that stop watch, which she destroyed.

      Good take, It looks like she had chosen and created a new stub right before she crushes the watch, and that new point is some time in 2032, What i am not getting as I think most of us watching is how she gets there, it seems like she knows how, and that it will be her conscious from her present time line /stub transferring over into the new stub, but maybe I am reaching to much for that, I guess that's where I am confused as she/ the character and the audience eventually find out there are many other stubs created, with other versions of themselves living out those time lines to different ends, but before we or the character know about the other timelines, just like in our own reality, we are only conscious here in this one and have no idea what we are doing in the other ones, just as Flynn has no idea of having 2 children in another stub, (no period key on this keyboard sorry), That brings me back to thinking or wondering if she really sacrifices herself, because if she does then she is dead along wiih her current conscious, I feel she finds a way to do that reboot and survive by transferring this conscious into another version of herself, but the difference being that she can do this without replacing or killing another one of her versions and its own conscious from within that said timeline because she herself is creating the new timeline from within her present conscious mind and somehow transferring herself/conscious mind there and never really dying, but escaping her fate to die in her own stub while saving the world/timline she was born into, although that world will continue living thinking she had died, all except Connor who seems to agree being the instrument of her death or new reboot, Sorry I reached anyway but how the heck are the writers going to explain how all this takes place in a way that keeps my suspended disbelief in tact lol!? I am hoping this time travel story doesn't disappoint, Thanks for hanging in there with me peeps, I am entertained! Loving the 1st season!

      @@2tenaquatics we know that Conner would have given his last limb to stay in the future. (haha) She presented this to Conner as if he was going to come with her. It looked to me like OG Conner was there shooting at Flynne. So that was probably OG Flynne. So im wondering if they downloaded both their consciousness and Lowbeer was somehow going to shoot that download into the new Flynne/Conner in the new timeline. But the only way to do that would be thru a headset, and Conner didnt get in on the headset thing til way late in the game. And then theres also the question, if they did basically make a copy of their conscious selves, is that copy really even them? Like OG them, basically SACRIFICED themselves to protect their loved ones and for what? NOT A THING because that jackpot stuff is STILL going to happen regardless. no matter what they were all going to die anyways. Its all so sloppy imo. They really should have tightened this up more. Given us just a LITTLE more understanding. which i am suspecting that even they cant do because they themselves probably dont even understand what they just did to us. HAHA

  • @sudanamit
    @sudanamit Před rokem +66

    The way I've understood this is that a stub is a fork in timeline which is created each time a timeline interacts with its own past or with the past of another timeline (or its stub) - this avoids the contradictions that may emerge since interaction with the past can create paradoxical outcomes (someone gets his younger self killed). Thus a new timeline is formed and all influences due to the interaction affect the new timeline and the original one goes on as before. Now once a stub is created, it runs independently of the original timeline it forked (and is behind in time based on when the fork happened). The only way the stubs interact is via the data interaction between them through which they can influence outcomes in the present moment of the other stub (if they interact with a past moment of the other stub, it will create a sub-stub).. So there's a main timeline or the RI stub (which is where all the future action is with the peripherals and RI etc with jackpot completed), in this Burton dies and Connors escapes unhurt, Flynne marries Tommy. There's another timeline where RI influenced Connors to save the dog and thus created a fork where Burton lives and where most of the past time of season 1 was spent and from where Flynne controls the peripheral, let us call it Burton Stub.
    What Flynne has done in the final episode is to create a stub (fork) on the Burton Stub and create a situation such that she dies in the Burton stub, but lives in the new stub (we can call it Flynne stub). With this, Flynne is dead in Burton stub (which RI and others can access) and alive in the Flynne stub (which RI cannot access because she destroys the key to get the access). Except for this, the state of the Flynne stub is identical to Burton stub and she has the data and way to control the peripheral, but RI has no way to know what is happening in this stub since they do not have the key. Thus Flynne can affect the RI timeline, but RI cannot affect Flynne's stub. She can even interact with Connors and Burton via the peripherals (in the future RI timeline). Also RI now has no reason to accelerate the destruction of Burton stub since FLynn is already dead there and so their data is safe there.

      If multiple stubs can be created from that same timeframe, that means all of the from all the stubs that branched from there would have that data implanted in their brain. What is also a bit confusing is it seems like the main 'future timeline' can interact backwards with any stub or create new stubs. So to me each of those stubs would create alternate futures right? The problem with this is if there are multiple stubs with futures that can create multiple stubs and interact with any of them couldn't there be multiple futures trying to interact with the SAME stub, thus creating a paradox?

      @@Khaladas I have a feeling the reason they are called "stubs" is they don't last long enough to develop the technology the main timeline is using. That was the first thing that occurred to me when I heard the term "stub." Stubs are short. And it would be absolutely moronic to torture a population of people in the name of research and then allow them to reach a level of technological development where they could figure out what you did and get revenge. The RI must have a way to end all life in these stubs when they are done with them.

    • @sudanamit
      @sudanamit Před rokem +3

      @@Khaladas As per my interpretation, a stub isn't created each time an interaction between 2 timelines takes place, but only when one timeline interacts with the past of another timeline, so to prevent contradictions in the timeline whose past is tampered, that timeline forks. In case of interaction with the present moment of a timeline, the future has not already happened, so there is no chance of a contradiction.
      Given this, you are right that multiple subs can be created with each having all the data that was available at the point of fork.
      Also, nothing prevents multiple stubs from interacting with the single stub provided they all have the technology to actually influence a different stub since they may all be at different points of time and hence tech development. And this will not lead to a contradiction if they all are interacting at the present moment of the stub being influenced since the future will play out the influence, and if they affect the past moment of the stub, then a new sub-stub will be created.

    •  Před rokem +3

      In the books, at the moment of first contact the timelines diverge (a stub is born) and also become synchronous, a minute here is a minute there.
      There is no concept of branching a stub from a stub.
      There are multiple stubs being run by mutliple organisations, in many of which the the jackpot doesn't happen because total extinction does (usually nuclear war).
      It's a more coherent concept, but obviously the showrunners felt it limited narrative possibilities.

    I could be wrong, but I think maybe her actual consciousness was also transferred to the new stub with the data. So she isn't being killed and replaced by an alternate version of herself, she is literally becoming the alternate version of herself. So from her perspective, one moment she is getting shot, and the next moment she opens her eyes in the new stub. The reason I think this also is because in the timeline map, the new stub being created is not listed as a new stub, it is listed as a "continuum". This implies that her consciousness is shifted over and will "continue", much like a save game state.

I mean, how exactly would she have transferred her consciousness (problem A) to herself in another universe, and the data (problem B) which is different because this data was encoded her DNA and thus isn't something that can be passed down to a brain?? I wish this show was more like Outer Range, it's mysterious but explanations are building in each episode and ends with answers and a nice setup for season 2. Peripheral just kept building the mysteries in each episode then ends needing a season 2 to make sense of what all is happening in season 1.

    She created a stub further in the past. A version of her from that past operates a peripheral in her timeline. Allowing them to kill her or make it look like they killed her, but just killing an empty shell.
    That way the version of her with the "data" in her brain is still alive and able to go to the future.

      In theory, they could have created a new stub beginning like 30 minutes before she was killed. Then the version of her from that stub would be identical to her. (basically the same person with same memories and knowledge, including full knowledge of the plan to create the new stub.) Lowbeer probably had to brief the new stub version of her a bit so she understood she was from the stub, and the other version of her (the one the audience followed) had already been "executed".
      ....The only hole is that it looked like the execution took place in future London, which means only the peripheral was destroyed. To get Sharice off her trail, the execution would have had to take place in her present time. I'll just assume Lowbeer and Flynne knew this, so that's what actually took place and my eyes were fooled. Maybe the camera panning out to a dense forrest was meant to indicate they were in their present time.

      Ok my own idea doesn't work because then there would be new version of Cherise and everything would be the same, basically accomplishing nothing. The only way to "hide" in a stub is to live permanently hooked up to an IV and Catheter in your timeline and never leave the peripheral. In the way that Connor said he wanted to do. However, if her Peripheral looks like her, talks like her, and acts like her, there will undoubtedly be suspicions. Not sure how they get around that. I guess it wouldn't matter if they could keep her body hidden (in her timeline). But people will always be searching for her. I don't know!

    If I understand it right (big if), all stubs originate from the “original” 2100 London time line.
    But Flynne flips the script by creating a stub… from a stub. And until a change has been made in the new 2038 stub she made, it will run parallel and be identical to her own 2038.
    So when Flynne is killed in her 2038 stub, she has a mirror version of herself in this parallel stub. Identical in literally every single way. But because it’s a stub off another stub, and she crushed the timepiece macguffin that created it and controls access to it, she’s effecting marooned it. Untouchable by 2100 London. She can go back and forth as she “knows the way” and can control access.
    The kicker though is that unless there is an intervention, the Flynne in the 2nd 2038 stub will also sacrifice herself after creating a parallel 2038 stub of her own. And we begin to run into our first paradox that will have to be solved with liberal doses of plot armour.
    Clear as mud!

      Well if she created a 2nd stub off of her own, the Flynne in that stub _should_ follow the same path and choices. In theory she should also create a stub and then sacrifice herself, and so on, and so on, infinitely. Unless there is an act of intervention to break the cycle.
      It’s also possible that Conner didn’t actually shoot Flynne… but a peripheral of her. If future London can transmit data to stubs which allows them to build cars with cloaking tech, the soldier’s haptics, that funky stun gun thing, the headsets, no reason they can’t also send the tech to build a peripheral.

    • @ddichny
      @ddichny Před rokem

      No, Flynn (1.0) only decided she needed to kill herself when she heard that teams had been sent to infiltrate the nearby nuclear missile silo. So she decided she could end that threat by killing herself and removing the reason that 2100 wanted to nuke the town (to destroy her and the information in her head).
      But before she died, she caused a new stub to be cloned from her own timeline, but from a point in time shortly *before* instructions were sent to the missile team. This creates Stub(2.0) and Flynn(2.0), who has lived through the events of most of episodes 1-7 and still is hellbent on getting revenge on 2100.
      Then as soon as Flynn(1.0) created Stub(2.0) she destroyed the "watch" that would have let 2100 access that new stub.
      Now 2100 can't nuke Stub(2.0) (because it has no means to reach it to give the orders to set in motion the nuking mission). The nuke mission never gets started in Stub(2.0). So Flynn(2.0) never hears of any nuke mission and has no reason to decide she needs to kill herself, so she continues the fight.
      Flynn(2.0) eventually uses the headset to visit 2100 again and keep up her "resistance" efforts, and as soon as she does Lowbeer tells her, "by the way, you no longer need to worry about 2100 meddling with your timeline -- you're not going to believe this, but you're now from a stub-of-a-stub because another Flynn did something amazing to ensure that for you."

      I agree that it's not a transfer - it's more like the Tesla Machine Trick in the Prestige. The original dies but the clone is exactly the same, including memories. My prediction is that that there have been many more stubs than the audience/Flynn has been told about, but data successfully being downloaded into someone's brain without haptics is a huge gamechanger - and some people will realize that being able to do that is much more valuable than the actual data Flynn has in her head, but Team Flynn doesn't see it until after at least another half-season of McGuffin protecting shenanigans.

But IIRC a stub is made not just by opening one, a thing has to be changed. So I wonder what will be different when the new Flynne leaves her Peripheral.

    • @wtexas11
      @wtexas11 Před rokem

      I've always thought that if past time travel was possible, that whatever point history was changed it becomes the new timeline and the original one gets rewritten. Anything from the original future will be unable to return to the original history which no longer exists. Here's what I mean. In the movie Back to the Future, Marty travels to the past. Eventually he returns again to the future but finds his original family now have their own altered lives which technically the original Marty was not a part of. Also, there should have already been a revised Marty there who was in fact part of the revised family. The rule would be when travel is to the past it results in the original history being rewritten. Travel to the future is a bit different because it can be done in three ways. The first way is using some device to transport you there, in which case the history you skipped does not include you, because you were in transit and bypassed that. The second way is placing yourself in suspended animation and waiting out the passage of time "frozen" until you reach the desired date and get "thawed". The third way is remaining there and living through that time normally, day by day. Any of these ways results in the same thing, which is the altered McFly family continues on, gets married, has kids. They have their own Marty, unbeknownst that there is an original Marty who is either in transit through time or in suspended animation, or reveals himself as an elderly man. Also, technically speaking, there is no way the McFly children would be physical copies of the originals. They might have the same names but it would be an entirely different person. So in the end, you get original Marty living in a timeline he's not familiar with, and who's original siblings were never born, with a mother who never birthed him but yet has the typical genetic similarity as any of the mother/child. In short: all Marty really did was get himself placed in another timeline with the family he once knew gone forever. Probably ending up homeless and insane because his mind can't accept what happened.

      Or the 2nd possibilty create a new timeline but to acces to that timeline you must register their location in time & space or you can't really navigate trough them

    The “Peripheral” series is a mishmash retelling of other similar stories such as Ready Player One, Avatar, The Dukes of Hazzard, Kick-Ass, and time travel stories all rolled into one; nothing really new here but provides some great laughs. You’ll probably like the series as long as you don’t expect it to break any records or earn any accolades.
    Each episode is a casual, computer game-like, albeit detailed, fun romp through a cliche’ ridden story of “drunk hicks in a circle” (their words, not mine), the pick-up driving small town girl with a shotgun and knows how to use it, contract killers, over the top almost comic book-like antagonists, a family member dying of an incurable disease, utterly mismatched romances, and the token protagonist Daisy Duke who’s somehow smarter than everyone around her and always makes the best decisions. Law enforcement in any of the time lines is rendered powerless so that Daisy Duke, I mean Chloe Moritz, can give us Kick-Ass 3. On the other hand, we watch as our woke female lead Flynne kills five other robots “each just as strong” as she is, kills other female baddies with martial arts that she never learned, and pursues a romantic relationship with a man that lives 70 years in the future and can never be with physically because she’s over 90 years old in his time or “she died ten years ago” according to her timeline. We also get the message loud and clear as we watch a 110 lb female police assistant take out two 200+ lb, muscular, ex-marines trained in martial arts during a training exercise. If you’re scratching your head right now, you’re not alone. Over and over again the series insults our intellgence, overtly brings resolution to conflicts in the most unbelievable and impossible ways, and throws in future high-tech items in an attempt to create plot twists and turns which ultimately fall flat.
    After this first season I was exhausted from keeping it all straight in some kind of coherent manner. It was if the Tomorrow War and WestWorld had a baby and I was forced to change it’s diaper; some bad acting, incoherent script holes, and the series not knowing what it wants to be started to really stink by the end of the series. Chloe Moritz gives her expected cute-faced, puppy-dog-eyed performance but I just wasn’t convinced that she could hurt a flea and, instead, would rather just hug it out.

      @@Theckonestroh I think the message of the Peripheral is effectively the opposite of that. Aelita is a nobody who sacrificed everything she has (aka her life in the "present") in the hope of saving another version of herself's world (she tells Wolf that). In much the same way Flynn does at the end of the season by creating a new version of herself and sacrificing herself to prevent the Cleft from getting the data in her head. The super-rich assholes in the story are the Cleft and the RI. They play with the lives of others in both the "present" and the stubs for their own reasons. They are the villains. Lev murdered his own doppelganger and family in Flynn's stub because he didn't like the idea that they existed. Our heroes are literally nobodies trying to save the world and they finally have a chance at it thanks to the actions of Aelita 1.0 that kicked off the entire story we watched.

      Aelita's goal was to hide the Research Institute data in a past, stub version of Burton, where no one would be likely to find it. Using his skills (actually, Flynn's) to obtain the data in the first place allowed her to kill two birds with one stone.

    • @go_gazelle
      @go_gazelle Před rokem +1

      It was sort of already explained in a comment below. But Sharice and Aelita piloted peripherals in their own time. Wilf makes up a story to the android cop about a friend visiting from out of town via a peripheral. The stub was created to experiment on humans with haptic technology and some sort of brain alteration to make humans more compassionate towards others. Aelita tried to bring in Burton from the stub to her present time to implant data into his haptics. This was her solution to make the data untraceable. After that, Flynne kept coming back because everyone was searching for Aelita and Flynne was the last person to see her. (inside Burton's peripheral).

After the jackpot they specifically show how even the people you see in LONDON at like the extremely popular spots were mostly CGI to make people less depressed. The population in the future must be extremely low for such a hot spot to be so empty. Flynn is "the best" player of the game in our time, and the game is a real simulation of life, so she is essentially more badass than anyone alive in the future. If you specifically weed out the best of the best out of our 8 billion population then they are going to be better than the best of the best out of some small population of future folks.

Also the idea of creating a 2nd reality, having 2 simultaneous Flynn's existing (1 of them being shot by Connor), again, just left a bit more confusion which i think otherwise would have been cleared up pretty easily if she just gave a couple more lines of dialogue when explaining her plan to Connor. Your rundown is spot on except for the conclusion. Which I agree, in the words of the inspector, “this all makes my head hurt.” LOL.
    In the end, Flynn realized she was playing a no win scenario (what she called the 'black hole' from her gaming experience). In her current stub, elements were enacted to move the timeline for the jackpot forward. In this case, it was to detonate the nuclear missile not far from their town, which would kill her & destroy everything she loves. So she initiated a bold plan w/ the help of the inspector. The inspector couldn’t open a new stub, for as she put it, such actions would be a declaration of war. But she could give Flynn the intel she needed to do so herself.
    Flynn gained access to the church, a cover for the stub portal. In which, she took the watch & engaged a new stub to create a fragmented timeline from that moment in time. She crushed the watch so the R.I. would not have access to the data of what or when she had engaged. She then took off the headset & essentially went for a walk, where she was shot according to plan. The version of Flynn from this timeline was in fact killed.
    This did 2 things: she was ended in that timeline & all data that held in her head was lost. So there was no longer a reason to nuke the town & surrounding area. In fact, that would be detrimental, because the R.I. has so much research going on in that timeline (the unfathomable cost that was spoken of). So the destruction of her town & friends was abated, & the need to pursue any interest in the lost date was nullified. As far as the R.I., Klept, or Neoprim’s were concerned, this timeline was now only useful for other studies already in progress, but not for the loved ones surrounding Flynn.
    However, a new version of her was created under a new stub from a time in which she was fully up to speed, but could operate blind to the R.I. because they were unable to pinpoint when or where in the matrix she exists. This was a move of ultimate check & would allow her to operate independently, w/out any interference from forces in the future. This version of Flynn then took control of the Peripheral to meet w/ the inspector.
    One bit of interest, now you have Flynn working unfettered w/ the Inspector to take down the Klept & Dr. Nuland. But you also have TWO versions of her brother Burton & friend Conner who are both in play. I think they foreshadowed this when Lev Zubov had lunch w/ Wilf & told him that he had his own family line killed off in the stub. That “it was too strange having other versions of himself out there somewhere walking around.”
    And yes, it’s a lot! It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out in Season 2. I absolutely loved this series, but I admit I had to watch it twice. Once for enjoyment & the general story, then a second time for the nuance. Both were equally enjoyable. But it made my head hurt...

Second, I didn't realize how powerful The God Font was (access to all stubs), and if Lowbeer has the ability to create new stubs-that shows that she has a secret agenda of some kind (probably to weaken the Klept oligarchy). I suspect that your explanation of Flynne downloading her data into a future stub (like the saved game analogy) is most likely the case. Third, I suspect that Lobov is screwed, (will end up killed) because he's a step behind, and Ash is underrated as an asset in general. Finally, The Peripheral is like a combination of Westworld, Minority Report, The Matrix, and Terminator all rolled into one lol. Can't wait for Season 2!

    Confusing as heck but fun. One question though, Inspector Lowbeer only just found out about the stub time travel stuff, so how is she able to do things in the past? For that matter, how is the Klept able to do it? I thought only Aileta and RI had the tech to connect with the past but in ep 1 Wilf and the Klept were able to do it.

      Inspector had connections with other Aunties or whatever they're called, I'm sure one of them knows.

    I am amazed nobody in these comments has mentioned the books by William Gibson that the series is based on. The tv series has taken a few liberties with the book but frankly has improved the narrative in the main. However we are only half way through and we have come to the end of the season. I want the rest of this book on TV today and tomorrow the sequel in production , base on William Gisons book "Agency" ,

    The nuclear bomb was never launched, the terrorists just blew up the silo, setting it off. I believe Lowbeer's agenda is to be able to keep the augmented peripheral of her daughter, Beatrice, with all the extras and with her for her lifetime. I presume Beatrice was killed during the Jackpot. If you recall, Dr. Nuland makes the snarky remark, "The Uncanny Valley Statute is rather clear that Peripherals should never operate as autonomous beings." to which Lowbeer replies, "Beatrice exists under a special waiver to the UVS."

      Ahhhh so that is how Flynne is existing in future London. Lowbeer got her a special waiver. That’s why Flynne asked for her help.

      @@DiodeMom I suspect the Flynn we watched in this episode died when she was shot in the head. The Flynn we see at the end is from the stub old Flynn created, which diverges just slightly from the old Flynn we know (maybe an episode back before the terrorists were set in motion to blow up the silo).

      @Garett Harnish EXACTLY!! I did some more thinking about Lowbeer... do you think maybe she's going to try to SAVE her daughter from ever dying in the first place?

    This is exactly what I had figured out but every other reaction I saw was way off and I started thinking I was going crazy and making things up, so thanks once again for clarifying😊
