The bells are only used for cows that can roam relatively freely in the mountains as there it helps the herd to stay together and to find missing cows. Also - they don't ring all that often as cows in general do not just run around for nothing.
This is so much labour for a simple thing like this. Heat metal and then use press - why? wielding and rivets at the same time? melt brass just to cover gaps - why not lead? it would require 500 degree less heating.
