Becca: "You step into the basement and a figure appears"
Party: "So anyways I started blastin"
Reasonable people when faced with 90% of Call of Cthulhu shenanigans: "That seems like a lot"
I hope Becca's Cthulhu sessions gain more traction. I love cosmic horror themes!
yep not enough good cthulu online
The 2 best RPG games that I have ever played were both Call of Cthulu ... and they were entirely different stories
@@yomogami4561 If you haven't, check out The Glass Cannon Podcast's Time For Chaos. They're playing Masks of Nyarlathotep. Last year they did Peru and New York. Season two starts next week.
They've also done a one-shot (in five parts) with Becca playing.
Alex's voice when hes injured is just fantastic, made me wince everytime he spoke...
So good indeed
I just love that twinkle that Becca gets in her eyes when someone fails a sanity roll. 😈 She's definitely one of the most creative Keepers of Arcane Lore that I've seen in watching these live plays.
I love that you've become the Aabria/Matt/Jason/Brennan for Call
And the B Dave

Griffin perchance
Yea its like Kyrgios/Federer/Nydal/Djokovic in tennis and she just joined their ranks as one of the best. Now my statement has a glaring flaw, and if you know what it is, then you know what the problem with the OP's statement is.
@@switters8679 ...kyrgios isn't a majors winner like the others? Not sure how it relates to OP, since everyone on that list is top tier (though it could be argued I focused predominantly on dnd Storytellers, over other systems)
Alex's voice work after that throat injury is 100 ❤❤
please continue making these Call of Cthulhu / Calyx shows! Really appreciate this!
Becca, you're a terrific Keeper, on par with the best ones. And that 1920s hairdo is divine.
This scenario is so good for beginners. I ran it so many times since the 90's.
Had my first call of cthulhu game on Saturday and this is the one my keeper ran - was so good! Really enjoy this style of play.
OMFG yes another in-person Cthulhu campaign! Becca, your video of The Auction that I watched early this year was what got me into Call of Cthulhu (and the entire Mythos by H.P. Lovecraft). I'm glad you're doing another one of these!
The Auction was my favorite too! :D
A brilliant scenario. Everyone was spot on with their characters.
She runs plenty of CoC mini campaigns on her channel. You might want to check them out.
The Auction was incredible
The Auction was as fun as it was thirsty.
So, so, thristy. :-D
Really liked this, especially thought Persephone and Trisha put a lot into this adventure. I've found when running Call of Cthulhu that it doesn't always appeal to everyone but those two really got into character. Thumbs up.
Oh cool, I hadn't seen Trisha Hershberger in so long. And Alex Ward was amazing in LA by Night, good to see him too.
So glad to see The Calyx back. Just in time, too. I was down to my last few SAN points.
Heh. Becca Scott, redefining the term "She's a keeper!"
I've definitely found my favorite new GM. You do a great job, Becca! I think it's safe to say we prefer the in-person sessions. Hope to see more Call of Cthulhu
Alex’s voice acting after his throat injury… WOOF that was so good
Everyone brought wonderful energy to this table! Gotta give special shout-out to Persephone's absolutely stunning necklace!
Always nice to see a tsimisce messing with cthulhu!
Becca really is a great Keeper
Just to add that the Auction had me in stitches and it was so well played by the people taking part... bravo...
That was a great cast & i’d love to see them again!
Yes everyone was terrific and the Auction was tons of fun
I've never seen Trish actually play before. I'm used to seeing her interview TDR cast. She's so good! Pleasant surprise. This turned out to be a really fun watch
Greatest Game master, ever! You all tapped this adventure spectacularly...
Wish it could have kept going!!! What a great crew!
Ran it last night. It's a great starter adventure, however I did add an extra challenge. Instead of Merriweather having the sarcophagus and book with him in the hospital (which I found a bit odd), the investigators got a small box with a very big strange key. They were told it was the key to his safe in his office in his home. Now the investigators had to charm/persuade/fast talk/intimidate the widow and son to get their way into the house, and search for the safe.
It did add about 1h5 extra play time, but the challenge gave the players time to get to know their characters a lot better, and give the players who didn't know each other more bonding time before the main event.
The classic Call of Cthulhu intro adventure! Eager to see this take…
I loved this!! Great job everyone and well done to Becca for absolutely slaying the keeper role like she always does. Keeps me coming back every time 🥰
As someone new to D&D, your Call of Cthulhu was what made me follow your channel and I'm excited to see more of it!
Edit: Just finished this and that was so fun! The players are wonderful as well!
Becca kicks ass! Love these live sessions I really wish there was more. Thank you for a great story!
I LOVE, these one shots/specials
Amazing session! Congratulations all.
15:00 Becca was waiting to cover someone in blood in this adventure since her time playing it on the chaosium stream a year ago.
Just making it clear that Aster rhymes with Jasper :v
Nice table, hope to see more with Alex Ward :)
rejoice, he will be in NY by Night
this is exciting!
There is a magic to having an in person session! Loved this!
So cool! I was thinking of starting a call of cthulhu campaign/game sessions before, but the auction video was what really made me say let's do it. The calyx sessions from then on were very helpful for me as a new keeper.
Me too, that Auction session was the good stuff
A cool detail about the PC François (as pronounced "Franswa") is she has a specifically male-gendered name (the last syllable specifies gender). If François is her birth firstname, she was assigned a man's name at birth. (The female-gendered name Françoise would have otherwise been pronounced "Franswaz" because of the last syllable specifying gender.)
It's Persephone so this is likely on purpose! And a cool tidbit I didn't known about french
I ran this adventure 15-20 years ago! Amazing its still relevant. My group of investigators killed the hobo (Red Jake) who then came back as a zombie during the ceremoy. It was a very intense adventure; players screaming and freaking out - good times :-D
This was a very nice playthrough, great job by Becca!
Oh yea!! I'm binge watching The Calyx since beginning of this year.
The other Dark Brotherhood with the assassins and the mummies would make a good CoC story too.
My favorite pre-written scenario
I feel like knowing the word linoleum is one of the hallmarks of a great call of cthulu gm, it's so evocative of such a specific visual, and it's just a type of floor tiling material
What a fantastic session! Thank you all.
That was very very fun! Thank you so much for doing that.
Its very interesting looking at those adventures and looking at how different each group behaves. My group had a different experience from you all.
Also those dice rolls were brutal lol
Just started getting into the calyx, very excited to see more call of cthulhu vids going up!
AHHHHH I'm so excited for this!! Can't wait to watch when I'm done with work
Becca you inspired me to buy the CoC starter set!
This was so much fun. I will check out more of their streams! gg
That was SO GOOD! Thank you all for this
Totally love Beccas' CoC gamemastering 😄 Hope to see lots more 😄 Ty ty so much for everything Becca😁 And I soooooo miss Game The Game ☹
This is an incredible playthrough. So helpful before I run this for the first time!
So thrilled for this! The first episode inspired my group to give CoC a try for the first time and it was a blast!
I've run this adventure so many times so it's a lot of fun to see this crew give it a go
This scenario was the first CoC game I ever played. After my character died horrifically I was hooked.
Great to see you guys play through it too.
i just love Call of Cthulhu. i have just purchased the starter box set. Becca you are an amazing Keeper. Just binge watching the videos at the moment...
I just finished playing this one shot last night. Had a lot of fun. It was my first Call of Cthulhu game. Definitely a different theme from DnD.
I enjoyed this a lot! Would love to see more adventures with Persephone and Trisha's characters, as well as the whole gang
This was hella fun! 🙌 Can't wait to see more in person Call of Cthulhu 💀 iä iä!
Trish transforms so well! Amazingly well done. And Becca does a great job as always. A great show! Running CoC for the first time starting next week after a number of years of running D&D 5e.
That was awesome!! Now, I need to listen to it a second time! Bang up job from everyone. Just wow!
This was so fun! Thank you so much. Exceptional role playing!! (Didn't get to finish this campaign with my group, so great to see it played and played so well)
What's the name of this campaign book? I'm struggling to find it
@@Bovrillor Edge of Darkness is included in Chaosium's CoC 7th ed. starter set. Also the quickstart rules, two other adventures, a solo (no keeper required) adventure, and some dice. Pretty good deal.
so great
I have been looking for an actual play to ease me into CoC and this was awesome! Fun and engaging, not too silly. I'm a fan!
I enjoyed listening to this. I tend to root for the PCs, but part of me relishes when the Game Master gets a few hits in first. 😄
That was so good! consider yourself followed. Having read through the campaign, and watched you play this as Keiko and now run the session, I can appreciate all the extra flourishes you've added. Keep it up!
Way to go Bex! I really enjoyed this. You are awarded 5 style point for the lamp trick. Turning it on with a snap.
Psst! I know it's tempting to pronounce Nyarlathotep with a "th" sound cuz so many of the others have "th" sounds... but it's supposed to sound Egyptian with the -hotep being a common Egyptian suffix, so it's probably Nyar-lat-ho-tep, not Nyar-la-tho-tep.
I see Persephone, I watch
YES YES YES! Lots of my favorite players of games in this one!
😂 My players also asked for jerky as the first thing in Ross's Corners😂
Amazing. And spooky as hell!!
Classic adventure. That was great.
BECCA AS A DM?? I had no idea she was doing this! Truly a treasure
Another great session
That background music is fantastic, share it out? That set is really fun too.
This is such a great scenario. Nice job Becca on great narration and pacing. One suggestion - prep a backup character or two & don't be afraid to kill PCs. The fear of death really ads to the tension & it makes the story even more interesting.
Check the description for a link to the audio source, though I don't know which particular tracks were used.
Becca is trying to be more murderous but it's hard when players are friends. She seems quite happy to destroy Jake week after week in board games though.. Hmm.
I'm so glad you did this! I'm running this with my investigators as their second case. I'm baffled by the note "Don't visit Boston", what am I missing?
Amazing
Another great spooky story from the Queen of Cthulhu. 🙏
Thank God more calyx I love the series!
I enjoyed this very much!
Probably the best first sceanio that can be run for a group. Also just fun to run in general.
I love how Becca, like me, slips into a southern accent even though these games take place in New England
Bad Gods, am I glad to see this! I've missed The Calyx something bad. Cheers KOAL Rebecca!
Just getting started on this. But I adore you as GM Becca, and the cast has performed with excellence so far (happy to see alex whom I appreciate from LAbN and the newly started NYbN chronicles) .
Im definitly following this one till the end 😀👌
This is awesome!!
Yeeeessss, my offerings to the eldritch gods have been answered, I'm so happy to see more Call of Cthulhu!
Now watching everything becca has ever done. Onwards comrades
WHAT is that sound at 4:12?! It sounds like a tummy gurgle, but looks like Joe is presenting bubbles to the group.
I'd absolutely LOVE the chance to game with you folks. You have a great dynamic!
That is a fumble sir. 😳 Becca is a strict keeper. 😈
Very enjoyable RPG session.
well done, well told, well played!
Love the background music! I always use music when running CoC.
Love for The Calyx.
This was fun to listen to
I created the Astral Tabletop version of this book. Sweet stuff.
Hope Sister Trish survives. I love the old time setting of this game.
I was gonna comment as soon as the video came out, but it came out in the middle of the night so I fell asleep right after watching it, but Alexander's character's name is a reference to Ari Aster, right? Director of Hereditary and Midsommar. Great game btw, Becca is an amazing keeper and every player was a great addition
Poor Alexander had it rough, good sport though!
Becca is an amazing keeper! The players were also excellent. This game was delightfully evil. 😈
Becca is the best keeper!!
