If anything, I do hope that the Hong Kong U24 football team's performance during the Asian Games can convince the HKFA and the clubs to provide more support and give young players further opportunities to grow and develop.
I know I am being slightly optimistic, but looking at the other past fixtures from various Hong Kong youth teams last year that had delivered a string of poor results and performances such as the U23 team led by Szeto Man Chun that got thrashed by ten goals when they played Uzbekistan during the AFC U23 qualifiers which was the worst result to date. Bringing in Andersen to manage the U24 team for the Asian Games football showed the difference in what he was able to achieve in contrast to Szeto Man Chun. The Sapling Cup is still a great way to give young players the experience and opportunities to play first team football, but I do believe that more can be done and it really is going to depend on the HKFA and clubs as the future of Hong Kong football will depend on them and play a further role within their development and progress.
@@D3Z112 u talked about results in ur post to support ur arguments, which shows that u don't really understand HK football at all. Results do not matter in HK football, unless an Olympic gold medal is dangled before the officials, see the treatment of the HK fencing team in the Tokyo Olympics. What matters in HK football is who is in charge of the HKFA and those bosses who run the clubs (we call it Lo Sai Ball in Cantonese ( 老細波). Even if one does not know Chinese, but surely one can guess correctly the meaning of this phase. The same group of people, now in their 3rd generation, have been in control of HKFA for over 50 years, all without making real progress. They are fully aware of all the problems which plight HK football, but they will never change the system or replace themselves because any changes they bring in mean that they have failed to run the local game properly. Coaches like Andersen come and go, but these people will never, never let go of their grip on power. Nothing will save and change HK football. So switch to the real game of football - Rugby, if I were u.
Joe, please instruct the staff of the Hong Kong Stadium and Mong Kok Stadium not to play the"GOAL!" video again when the foreign visiting team scores. The "GOAL!" video should only be played when the local Home team scores.

Don't hope. It will never happen.
