- Ok, so I had a LOT of people comment on my other videos asking how they can get 120fps / 120hz enabled on their PS5 so I made a quick video to show you - and YES, it does work on HDMI 1.4 as well as HDMI 2.0 monitors - you just have to set it to 1080p, turn off HDR, and set it to performance mode. And this works for all games on PlayStation 5.

I want help🛑 , I want to buy a monitor names is (ViewSonic VX2418-P-MHD ) so I’m not sure that is it support 120hz on PS5 ?
Hi Justin. I just picked up a monitor to compliment the PS5 and I've been reading about FreeSync potentially clashing with response time settings and/or anti motion blur. I've noticed you seen to have all of them enabled (edit nvm, you don't have anti motion blur on but I think I'd need it so any light you can shed on it would be greatly appreciated), though I presume the PS5 probably doesn't use FreeSync at the moment? Would you have to have any knowledge on how they may be interacting with each other? I was a bit lost lmao. My monitor is an MSI if that helps :) I've tested and confirmed I can get 120fps but I'm not sure which monitor settings combos are optimal right now. Thanks!
Ps5 dosent support free sync atm. Thus the only ideal recommendation would be to use to the best motion clarity settings & fastest response time available on your monitor.
@@themonitorguytt3720 yeah I suspected as much. I just wasn't sure if FreeSync or anti motion blur had any unwanted side effects (such as more ghosting for the former, or extra input lag for the latter). I think the fastest response time setting forces anti motion blur on and locks it, so I'd definitely want to know if that combo would cause extra input lag on top of inverse ghosting

Hi, I've got a question, if I buy a Samsung 32inch G5 Oddyssey, will it be able to run 120hz 120fos straight away on Ps5, or do I have to do anything extra to enable it or do I just make sure the ps5 setting are correct?
As long as the G5 supports 120hz over HDMI, you’ll be good!
I just bought the exact same monitor and I have the same question since the monitor is HDMI 2.0 and the PS5 is 2.1. Will it still be able to run at 120 HZ because the monitor supports 144hz.
@@iitzkakashi2109 HDMI 1.4 can handle 1080p/120hz. HDMI 2.0 can do that plus 4K/60hz. HDMI 2.1 can do 4K/120hz. Both sides have to be the same or else it always drops to the lowest common denominator. So PS5 will only output what 2.0 can handle if a 2.0 monitor is connected.
@@JustinReves HDMI2.0 can do 1440p/120hz only, not 4K! that's why everyone when they enable 120hz the resolution goes down to 1080p because ps5 doesn't support HDMI2.0-1440p so it downscales it to 1080p, unless u have HDMI2.1-4K then u can run 120hz with 4k and also i suggest to turn ur HDR on when supported and also on ur TV choose HDMI enhanced format
Thanks for the video, you helped me out alot!
I have vg248qe monitor which has a 1.4 hdmi port and I plugged ps5's hdmi in it and it didn't support 120hz, should I buy a 2.1 hdmi cable?
Monitors need both at least an HDMI 1.4 port and then also for the manufacturer to have programmed in 1920x1080 at 120hz as a supported resolution. Unfortunately, if you go look in the manual for that monitor, you will see on the last page that ASUS set it up to only support 120hz over DisplayPort and not HDMI.
Hi mate bought this monitor for ps5 and copied all you settings, looks good man thanks, but do you use the hdmi cable that came with the monitor or did you use the ps5 hdmi cable with your monitor?
Either should be just fine. Just needs to be HDMI 1.4 and up which both are.
@@JustinReves thanks alot mate
hey thanks for the video i was wondering if you would know why i connected my ps5 to my

copied all the settings and my ps5 doesnt show upnon my screen with my hdmi 2.0
Your monitor may not support 1920x1080 at 120hz over HDMI. Check your manual.
So if I do have a hdmi 2.1 tv does the game run at a 4k resolution and 120 fps? Or does the resolution still need to be dropped to 1080p? Also seems strange HDR has to be disabled, what a weird caveat.
On HDMI 2.1, you can run 4K/120. The TV will always see 4K/120 but technically the PS5 will always be dynamically adjusting the resolution down depending on the scene because you need a graphics card 4-6X the price of a PS5 to run 4K/120 at all times. But it’ll still look great!
@@JustinReves Yup dynamic res was my expectation so no issue there, just was not sure if there was anything else weird going on. Thought there could possibly be a reason the game required 1080p since it basically sounds like a patch still running the backwards compatibility mode. Really appreciate the info and video, great work!

I own an HDMI 2.0 monitor, but the PS5 comes with HDMI 2.1 cable, I'm afraid to not being able to play at 120hz since it doesn't have HDMI 2.1, the monitor's description literally says "120Hz Compatible for PS5 and Xbox series X" tho, I currently use it on my PS4 but I originally bought it so that I can get 120hz when I get the PS5 console. will it works at 120hz if I got the PS5?
HDMI 2.0 can do either 4K/60fps or 120fps at 1080p or 1440p. It can't do 4K/120fps. But the PS5's HDMI 2.1 port and cable are backwards compatible so it will work perfectly with your monitor at 1080p/120hz. There are very, very few monitors in existence that have an HDMI 2.1 port for 4K/120hz support. Don't worry about it - PS5 looks fantastic at 1080/120hz.
