It's more valor style DB imo
Yeah Valor style dual blades had this dodge counter that restored your sharpness and retaliated with a short attack/dodge animation. It also had s when triggered.
Did the Valor dodge or the Stylish skill synergize with Protective Polish?
@@kobold_sushi_executive_chef well, protective polish was introduced in world/iceborne but I imagine if it had, been in Gen, GU or Frontier that would be pretty damn good. Too good even. We had skills like grinder (Heavy polish) back in the previous games but idk if this triggered grinder.
Those 2 lines flowing out of the blades make it look so ELEGANTO!!!

It's got same sound effect as Absolute readiness, love it.
That Slide Slash Combo got tiny bit of I-frames at the beginning managed to get it right once off recording, but never managed to get one right after that.
For that sharpness silkbind, it seems to be restoring 20-30 per activation and then same per dodge after that lasts like a minute and recharges real fast.
Edit: Sharpness move work with every other i-framing move, tested demon flght, skill swap evade and tower vault.
So if I'm understanding it correct sharpened instinct is a buff that restores sharpness on use and whenever you dodge through an attack for the next little while? If so that's kind of interesting, don't think we've had an offensive incentive to grab evasion+ before. I wonder, does the buff stay if you switch skill swap?

Do you know if sharpened instinct works with other moves with s (demon flight, tower vault, slide slash) or do you need to perform a normal dodge? It would be awesome if you could pair it with the other Iframe moves to keep sharpness.
It works with pretty much any evasive move.
This is like my second time touching dual blades properly, couldn't get all of its moves right.
Issue I've had with the slide slash combo at least on switch is that it most of the time doesn't read the input and just leaves me sitting there attacking with basic slashes when I'm trying to use it to maneuver around during a hunt

I've been having issue using sliding slash as most of the time not only do I use it on accident, repositioning myself without trying, but also I can't seem to slide in the direction I want to go

i hope sharpened instinct can be extended by evade window instead of having separate window. slide slash combo seems redundant, DB already got feral demon mode which will attack while dodging and also that silkbind move that also attack while dodging
i wonder if the sharpening from dodging will work with protective polish, cause in that case you could run only 1 point of protective polish and have infinite sharpness

Here I'm still waiting for insect glaives hidden skill. Apparently in a reddit post, it flings the kinsect and you follow it like the awakened kinsect attack move but doesn't say how it works.

Doesn't sharpened instinct function the way Seregios gear has in the past? Does this mean that the gear will have different abilities... or will it *stack*?
Seregios restored sharpness with every roll even with the monster not Attacking, if the skill will be in Sunbreak we dont know at this point.
5 unit of sharpen every 5 evades (9 with lance). I dont think the skill remains the same, rolling is so 2010, now is wirebug shenanigans
spinning slash and sliding slash are great but they're replacing moves so deeply flawed is feels more like fixes to mistakes rather than an expansion of the weapons capability. Because no way are you going to actually bother to equip / use the old skills in your silk skill swap.
most of the time that i use jumping spinning slash it was by accident where I meant to use demon flurry rush or demon flight but miscounted my combo string, and the handful of times i mean to use jumping spinning slash is because I wiffed demon flurry rush / demon flight and now I need to rotate my character where its awkward slash direction and long animation feel painful for a move thats only real value is its ability to change your facing direction. Both cases are mistakes on my part and could be solved by being a better player. By contrast sliding slash, also changes facing direction, allows you to reposition, provides i-frames, and its animation is much faster. so it is better at the same job, can accomplish a new job, and is less punishing to use on accident.
piercing bind with its long animation time and inability to apply element or crit is already borderline not worth using on most elemental DB builds. its going to be completely outclassed in sunbreak when elemental damage and crit are in even more abundant supply, and master rank builds will probably start incorporating true elemental crit or other element bonuses like Teostra's blessing, piercing bind is going to scale horribly, on top of its long animation, follow up commitment requirement, short and awkward reach. spinning slash on the other hand is a gap closer, can be used in the air if you want, and lands multiple hits which of course can crit and apply element.
I've found that Spiral Slash can combo rather well into Piercing Bind to rack up the damage for the explosion quickly, but otherwise, I feel like you hit the nail on the head. Piercing Bind on it's own is completely awful and unless the fix the elemental/status build-up on it's additional hits or at least speed up the animation/range, then Spiral Slash basically outclasses it in every way.
As for Jumping Spinning Slash...I don't entirely remember which button that is.
I will be using old spin in place move. Its great tool to stick to weakspot and nice combo reset to prepare counter attack or dodge on next monster move. Other than that its great move to use to turn around back to the monster head after failed mini demon flight

Seregios bladescale hone in a switch skill? Might be the only thing that would make me want to actually try DB in Sunbreak outside of the demo after feeling disappointed from Spiral Slash.

can you test 'countering' an attack with Demon Flight (while in Demon Mode: A on Switch/B on Xbox/Circle on PS/Right Click on PC) while Sharpened Instinct is activated and tell me if you got sharpness back?

meh. Shrouded Vault is too good not to use imo. Also speed sharpen takes 3 skill points, would rather use that.
Slide Slash looks interesting but the i-frame window looks like the unbuffed instablock, so hard to properly pull off
Swap scroll m8. U can take both shrouded vault and the new sharpen skill.
Skill Swap is your answer. Seriously, the sharpess buff wirebug cooldown is FAST. So you only need to buff, swap skill into the scroll with Shrouded vault and stay in that loadout till you need to rebuff yourself. Easy.

It doesn't improve i-frames just re-sharpens the weapon everytime you dodge with any i-frames moves, they can be regular dodges or other silkbind attack dodges.

In Valor dbs it was more of a counter. So it's almost the same here

I’m curious if Sharpened Instinct will make Protective Polish obsolete on DB or compliment it. On one hand it may free up a lot of gem slots. On the other, it may proc Protective Polish so you never have to stand still again.
Edit: I also just noticed that in the video, it doesn’t consume a wirebug meaning this is either a bug within the demo or we can just spam this move with little consequence.
The gunlance resharpen block silkbind skill doesn't proc protective polish, i doubt it will on this one.
Make no sense with protective polish. Absolute bonkers with Razor Sharp or Master Touch

@@adrianbc89 i doubt we would even need those now. Having it sharpen around 25 points per successful evade is more than good enough to stay full sharpness throughout the hunt. Provided you successfully evade.
Just slap evade window and it will be both your protective polish and you never get hit ever again
If malzeno's armor give you the skill for drain HP and Seregios weapon for gain sharpess while dodging combining with this you could kill a monster only by dodging while you have infinite HP recovery and sharpess xD
Yes but you will need to invest in some evade extendar and evade window to beat the big and lingering hitbox fest that rise has to offer. It's why counters are so powerful.

I must say, as a DB main, I'm a little disappointed by these two silkbinding techniques. But who knows? Maybe I'll like them in the game.
Honestly these look amazing. I played DB heavily in Rise and Frontier and I must say that having their dodge sharpen that many units of sharpness is amazing. I wonder if it will sharpen when using the silkbind evade counter while having the buff up. Or if it will work with the new reversal skill. DBs may never have to sharpen again.
Better sharpness management seems to be a great thing to me, that slide slash combo isn't that great though. Just a repositioning move with few i-frames at the beginning not all the interesting like SA's 2-staged morphing combo.

We already saw what it's skill is. It's a backwards blastdash with s at the start.
It only sharpens when you successfully an attack, it won't work when you just dodge around with nothing attacking you.

These dont do anything that you wouldn't get otherwise. If the sharpness skill doesn't proc off demon flight s it's basically useless other than the initial 20-30 hits of sharpness which is nothing for DBs. Slide slash is as useless as roundslash.
It should work with any evasive moves.

It works with everything even with scroll swap dodge. Welp ok it does not work with other players flinching you and superman dive i guess xd

Considering this is a demo and sliding slash normally isn't even accessible within it, I think it's a safe bet that the damage output should be improved in the full release
It's not meant to do a ton of damage, it's meant to move you out of the way so you don't die
