    Happy New Year John! Another enjoyable vid, thanks.
    I'm from Maine in the States and will testify to how well the Seal&Shine holds up through Maine winter weather. For most, S&S is just about legendary. Another TW Seal n Shine (Maryland, USA) user, here. My new car is black and almost 7 months old. I applied SnS during the first week of ownership and then topped it off with the Ice spray wax a couple months later (timing issues/busy life). They have held up incredibly well. I don't get to do maintenance washes as often as I like, and even from 10+ feet away, the car looks clean even through a layer of dirt/road film. Thankfully the rain does a decent job of washing away the lighter stuff, but once the weather warms up, it will definitely need a pre-wash/citrus spray around the lower areas of the car. The SnS/Ice Spray Wax combo is excellent. Especially for the price.

    SiRamik Lustrous + Graphene Spray could be worth a look. Applied to one of our vehicles nearly a year ago. It is one of the early “stronger” batches than requires a little more care to apply to avoid high spots or streaking but with common sense is still easy enough. Pre-wash has always been Autofoam and mostly Pure shampoos, any sign of beading being poor was brought back to life with Labo Purifica. It’s at the stage where it’s still going strong but can feel decontamination on the roof and bonnet that will need taking care of in the new year once the weather improves but will be using it again no doubt.

    I think a yearly light polish and a few applications of some crushed turtles is the way to go.
    I have had car with ceramic coatings for around 6 years now. The problem is that after a while there will be light scratches and water spots after a while, say half way through the ceramic coating lifespan. Ideally this needs decontamination yearly with a clay bar which is not possible with a ceramic coating.
    I ultimately want a car to look in showroom condition for the longest period with minimal effort. I seriously considering not using ceramic coatings anymore...

    • @platinum.mobile.detail
      @platinum.mobile.detail Před rokem +2

      Most people don't realize they do need a decon wash for optimal performance. Iron remove, mineral remover, and as a last resort, I'll give it a light clay with a perforated towel.

    • @alim9489
      @alim9489 Před rokem +3

      @Platinum Mobile Detailing even if i do a decon wash, minus the claying, it never looks the same as the car does in the first year after a polish.
      I have tried the carpro essence plus to 'revive' a coating, but it was not as good as I was hoping, and the fillers don't last that long.
      I also tried using cancoat after a decon, to spruce up the hydrophobics, which helped increase the longevity of the coating.
      However, nothing has popped and had the clarity of a freshly polished car. The heavy cutting is back breaking, but a light polish with a nice non dusting compound, which I can whizz round the car in a day, once a year, is my current thinking.
      So its a wk end once a year for gleaming paintwork. Saturday decon and probably start some polishing. Sunday finish polishing and apply a long lasting sealant. Continue with fortnightly maintainance washes and reapply spray sealant every few months, or even use diluted amounts as a drying aid.
      That appears to me to be a good compromise for the easiest and cheapest way to get a shiny car for what I am looking for, without going too crazy.

      @@alim9489 I totally get what you're saying. If you are meticulous enough to notice the little things, then a yearly freshen up with an all in one like uno protect will also keep it looking great while removing a minimal amount of clear coat. That's what a call an enhancement polish and it's one of my favorite services to offer. A coating is great for keeping a vehicle looking good with less effort, especially for those who don't know how to polish. But if you have the know how, then being able to remove the inevitable defects that will happen will keep it closer to showroom quality.

    • @ianc1097
      @ianc1097 Před 3 měsíci

      You only need to wait the 5-10 minutes before buffing. The instructions say 15 minutes but I only wait 10 at most. If you’re finding it difficult to buff you are probably putting too much on. Just put the thinnest of thin coats on and it buffs easily. It works well. I also have Soft99 kiwami wax that I use as a topper. It’s easier to apply because you can buff it straight off. The conurbation of both is amazing.

    It would only be fair to Gyeon to redo the whole experiment and let it cure for a week( as with most ceramics ). The way cancoat performed here is in no way consistent with the results people are getting otherwise, me included.
    So please, John, if you’re going to compare a true ceramic coating with other non ceramic coatings, let it cure accordingly.

    Turtle seal n shine is the best to use if your country has continuous rain due to its hydrophobic properties amd toughness but its the worst sealant during the dry - dusty season as it is a definitive dust magnet. Better if you have different wax/sealants depending on the season.

    Few things to take from the video.
    1. Stay the hell away from Surfex HD! That stuff will remove everything! :D j/k
    2. Expensive isn't always the best.
    3. The most resilient product tested ... is actually the white marker pen used. My car is white. Which marker pen did you use? :)
    I split my car's bonnet last year and applied TW Hydrophobic Wax and Fusso Coat (old formula / white) on each half. I had to redo the TW after roughly 3 months, but Fusso only let go after 11 months or so. On rainy days it was very clear there were 2 different products used. Fusso is my favourite, but I will always have TW because it is so good and very easy to work with. It also works on all surfaces. And at that price, just use it as a drying aid and never bother with a sealant refresh.
    My problem with Turtle Wax is the marketing on this product. You have ICE Seal N Shine, I have the Hydrophobic Sealant Wax and now there is another one available called Seal N Shine Hydrophobic Wax. To my knowledge it is all the same product. Don't think I've seen a comparison of the 2 or 3 of them.
    It's also interesting to me that we only started getting Fusso Coat here after they seemed to change the formula, and we only get the old formula. Africa is a dumping ground for old stock, but I won't complain.

      @2226cc Před rokem

      @@soapa4279 Yes, indeed it is. Even in the longevity claims the new formula is only said to last 11 months while the older formula is 12. We only started receiving Fusso Coat here after the formula changed, but it is the older formula. This is usually because Africa winds up being a dumping ground for old stock. 😁 I'm not going to complain about that though.
