I like the last one a lot. I think I’ll use that for my safety stop knot in my spool for my DSMB.

Minor point: for security/reliability, the becket bend (sheet bend, actually) should finish with both line ends on the same side of the knot - can/should be tied the same as the bowline when using small gauge line.

Hi, just wish to make a correction, the 'crown knot' is actually called a reef knot, a crown knot is something completely different and is closer to backspacing the knot. the 'thief knot' is also a different knot to the reef knot, as on a reef knot the two tailing ends of the line are on the same side of the knot, whereas the thief knot they are on opposite sides, this is as if you were to have tied a thief knot on your kitbag while at sea a thief would not remember to tie the bag back up with the thief knot and automatically tie the simpler reef knot. hence you would know if someone had entered your belongings without your permission...

Hinweis: Beim Palstek, der erste Knoten den du gezeigt hast, kommt das Leinenende nicht zur Schlaufe sondern von ihr weg. Sprich du gehst spiegelverkehrt durch die Lasche heraus.
Mast-/ Schotbruch, Skip. Polary
Ergänzend:Allgemein ist beim Palstek das lose Ende innen. Die deutsche Marine und Andere haben das lose Ende außen (Linkspalstek).
Der Palstek ist also nicht falsch, sondern nur anders.

Hi, Thanks! What was there in the backgrond was a Hollis Prism 2 Rebreather and what you see there is the counterlungs.
That blood not would be a good way to set up a known measurement or for knowing when you get close to a point.

Hi Alec, as the Bungee is flexible you can always reopen it and therfore there is always a chance that it will open itself. So for a knot I want to be safe I wold never use it.

Bowline actually isnt quite right. You have to go around the "mainline" the other way around so that the short end is on the outside of the loop. Especially important in sailing/boating. The end can otherwise be pushed out and the knot becomes undone
thanks for that - to my knowledge these "2 versions" are refered to as "german" and "english" version. cant remember which is which.

I know that when i did my boating license here in germany some people failed because they tied the bowline the wrong way. Some of the examiners are very strict :D
Actually, this is a correct bowline, the knot you are referring to is actually called a cowboy bowline or left-handed bowline (which is the "German/Dutch" version). There is inconclusive debate about which version is better. As an dive instructor and as a mariner, I have always been taught to tie it like shown, but test have shown, it doesn't really matter.
Just curious why the diving CZcamsrs don’t see, to like the figure8? Our fire dept started a technical rescue team years ago and once they showed me how versatile it is, I run either bowlines or figure8/figure8 on a bight for the vast majority of knots.
