    I'm only 27 dives in, but I've dedicated HOURS in the pool to buoyancy and back kick. I do laps in reverse until i get bored. It's helped out immensely!

    Great videos! Will happily share them with people in need for proper examples on all these skills!
    Things I look for often: how to stow your standard gear (reels, spare mask, etc) / proper rigging and length of the bailout cylinders, deco cilinders (backmount / sidemount / ccr), etc

    Just to continue on propulsion techniques, a video about side kick would be interesting.

    Nice tip on the ankle tension to control the fin position. When I backfin I tend to start dragging myself upwards in reverse (not a problem with bouyancy as I can literally feel that my legs are pulling me up) instead of in a straight line. Will try this out tomorrow.

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  Před měsícem +1

      @snap4433221 The problem you describe is fairly typical amongst our students. To fix what you describe, you have to find a fixed reference point on the horizon and keep an eye on it while back finning. The reason you are travelling up is because you tend to look down most likely, and that is 100% causing such issues.

    Wow, I just can't do it, and worse if I raise my calves to vertical like that the air shifts and my drysuit wants to flip me upside down. Thanks for video, I'll keep practicing

    Just a few weeks back I spent about one and half hour in a pool with the intention of learning back kick. I can attest to the frustration at least 😂

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Keep in mind that there is absolutely no point of practising this skill longer than 20 minutes max at times. Remember to have recovery breaks every 3-4 minutes just as the video stating 😉

    Thank you very much for the great explanation, can’t wait to practice this! But the voiceover is a bit monotonous, made me too relaxed (as for meditation) and I missed the body movement explanations several times! 😅

  • @vibora177
    @vibora177 Před 5 měsíci

    A constructive appreciation. I'm sorry, but this technique is not entirely correct. In preparation for the retrieve, you lower the tips of the fins excessively. And it seems to be the same in the helicopter manoeuvre. In confined spaces, both manoeuvres would project the water against the bottom, and in the case of sediment, it would lift it up, clouding the environment.

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  Před 5 měsíci

      I kindly disagree. The point is to reset your legs as slow as possible, which will prevent silting. I use this exact technique in caves that has zero flow therefore, very silty and has never experienced any issues.

    • @vibora177
      @vibora177 Před 5 měsíci

      I am not saying it is badly done. It's just a point, which can be improved by stretching the fins parallel to the bottom as slow as possible. I performed the kick the same way as in the video and was corrected. Even so, congratulations for the videos, they are very good.
