This is by far, my favorite spanish entry in the Eurovision history. And yes, remember this is a song contest, the most important thing must be the song. Of course it is a whole package, vocals, interpretation, music, backing singers etc... Nowadays it is more about the show, because it is broadcasted worldwide and thousand of millions of viewers watch it live. It is the Olimpics of singing contests!
FYI, in 1995 Norway won the contest with a song that barely has lyrics. After that they set a new rule about the amount of lyrics for competing songs.
It didn't bother me in the slightest that Norway won with this little lyrics that year, despite Anabel bringing something amazing to the table here. Imho Norway had the strongest entry among the on the average strongest entries of any ESC - saying 1995 was the best ESC (imho) and being second here, like Anabel is still quite the distinction - to this date (eventhough Norway won deservingly so - again, imho) !

Tuvo demasiada mala suerte. RTVE no quería que ganara, a causa de ello fue vetada de la TV, su discográfica la abandonó y encima vivió algún episodio de acoso sexual durante aquella etapa, hecho que la hizo retirarse definitivamente y hacerse profesora de música. Es una de las historias más injustas de Eurovisión, cómo los directivos la despreciaron y la vetaron de la TV... Incluso a día de hoy no la mencionan en ninguna parte, como si nunca hubiera existido. Afortunadamente, logró hacerse un hueco en la historia de Eurovisión y en otros países como Israel si la recuerdan con cariño.

Nunca quisieron que ganase. RTVE hizo lo posible para hacerlo posible porque sabían que le tocaría a España organizar el ESC con impuestos públicos. La vetaron de una aparición pública en RTVE y con ello acabó su carrera. La ningunearon en todos los sentidos.
Tuvo que haber sido la ganadora del ESC 1995 y sin embargo Noruega, con una canción instrumental en la mayoría de su contenido ganó, cosa que no se entendió en toda Europa.

Vuelve Conmigo is probably one of the best Spanish entries in the ESC in fact this was the last time that Spain ended in the top 5, she was second and since then Spain has not reached these positions almost ended in last places. too bad she had not a succesful career because she was an amazing singer🌟👍🎶🎧🍵🐙
I come from the future and I have to tell you that in 2022 spain ended in 3rd place with the song 'SloMo' performed by the spanish singer Chanel. We got 459 points, which is the highest amount of points that Spain got in the ESC.

It is true what you said about now the contest is more about the staging and flashes but it doesn't always happens. When a song is very special it gets to the audience no matter the staging. The prove is Salvador Sobral from Portugal "Amar pelos dois". He won the competition in 2017 just him singing without almost lighting. I recommend you to react at it heheh Have a nice day!
That’s a great song and a powerful and stylish performance. Gavin, you’re so right: I think at that time Eurovision was still a serious and pretty decent contest; nowadays it has become just a banal "circus" in which the most important thing is the "theatrical show" (often of not too good taste) above the song or performance quality. Of course, there has always been cronyism and politicking in that contest ... quite disgusting!!!

I love everything from this song, the song itself, the live orchestra, everything from her, her voice, the way she moves and her eyes as well. This is my favourite song ever from ESC and I can't believe she had not a chance to succeed in the music industry in Spain, likely for reasons not related to her (I think something happened with her company at the time). What a pity

Amazing performance. I strongly prefer those times till the late 90s where the most important thing was the live orchestra the singer's performance, the song in its own language representing the own culture and the cohesive atmosphere of music in live rather than these insubstantial years of prerecorded music, firewoks, extravagant and repetive choreography, effective light- costumes, and ccmmercial songs where every country use the English to be understood. I remember latvia winning with salsa latin flavour singing in English. Now it's a tv show with 46 countries and the only purpose is impacting the audience through the eyes. It doesn't matter if the cake smells or tastes good because it's a fake cake of plasterboard. You can listen to Blas Canto with Pastora Soler "mi luz" and Tu cara me suena and please "la tormenta" from Pastora live Directo from Sevilla to enjoy her sustained high note till the eternity. There has not been any singer in Eurovision who has reached those high notes. She should have won just for that.

Unlike today, back in those years even music was live.
1995 was a particuly good year for the contest with a number of great entries i loved the winner from Norway as it was so different from any song ever enteredin the contest and we had it as one of the songs at our wedding but any other year this could have won it for Spain. The Danish entry that year was great too.
Anabel finished second. She tried to represent Spain once more but she wasn't selected. If I'm not wrong she also went as back vocal (not sure if this is the correct way to say that) supporting the singer for Andorra later. You are absolutely right. Now is more important the staging than the song. Before it was more focused in songs and performances now is almost about "fireworks"

Try Azúcar Moreno - Bandido (Eurovision 90). They got 5th position but had to start the performance twice because of an incident with the playback entry. They went out from the stage once the music was sounding and nobody knew what was happening. The fake musicians didn't know what to do lol

No triunfó porque los directivos de RTVE la vetaron de por vida en la TV española, y eso en los 90 sin las redes sociales significaba el fin de tu carrera, ya que ninguna discográfica grande iba a querer trabajar con una artista non grata en la TV. Además de eso, sufrió acoso sexual, y eso fue la gota que colmó el vaso y la hizo apartarse de la música para siempre. Su historia es una de las más tristes e injustas de Eurovisión, un talento excepcional que no pudo triunfar por la corrupción de la TV española...

If you're up for listening to some of Spain's older entries I really like Tú Volverás from 1975, another one is Eres Tú which I'm pretty sure was really popular in the Spanish speaking countries in the Americas

We don't even win by spending a lot of money. In some of the last years, Spain has had the highest budgets but it tends to get some points than expected for the quality of the song and scenery. In my opinion it is not really important to win, we should focus on doing the eurohit of the summer.

No es justo que su carrera se quedase estancada y nunca más volviese a saberse de ella después de ganarse un merecidisimo segundo puesto
La carrera se quedó estancada por culpa de la discográfica Jercar que quebró al año siguiente y antes del 13 de mayo le avisaron de que no se hiciera muchas ilusiones y que se diera con un canto en los dientes si quedaba 10ª, es más, no era favorita en las apuestas al contrario de Noruega, Croacia, Suecia, Eslovenia o Israel. Además, TVE no la promocionó lo suficiente y lo único que preocupaba a los directivos era la audiencia y los ingresos por publicidad en el intervalo antes de las votaciones.

Spain won Eurovision contest twice in a row, and it has reached the second position a couple of times. So my advice is that you document yourself properly before shooting a video. Good luck.
