I bought 13 bundles and from 2 last premium BF containers I won Assashio B , she is good ship I had one battle 3 kills ... all by gun , but I would not buy her , last year I bough whole bundle with Dunkerque B , this bundle ship Shinonome is not worth it for as I allready have regular Shinonome so no poit spend 4k db to get her , and I have , Alaska , Cossack , Atlanta , Graf Zepplin, Napoli , Pommren & Yoshino so B version are poitless for me , and only 2 ships are interesting for me Jean Bart somehow I miss it when was for coal , and Massachusetts , JB I have Burgugone , Patrie & Richelieu I would like to win one but I wont spend so much DB , same Massa I have Ohio with great secondaries for Helsey , hoestly I would buy those ships but I have something big comming in my life and I might take some break from game , or even never returned , so I have mix feeling spending cash on those ships .
I find ab-so-lutely useless the black versions of ingame ships like Mainz or Napoli.
Why not more "retired" ships like Nelson or Lenin?
This was a fun video. One more thing I really like about Massa is her insane torpedo protection. She can really take a punch. One thing that T8 ships and below really handicaps these days is the virtual certainty you will be playing against subs, which is a bit less likely at T9 and up.
On the other hand you can take them for a spin in Ops, unlike T9 ships. Massachusetts in particular is downright savage in Ops.
I bought Massachusetts last year and I have absolutely no regrets over my purchase.
I had thought at one point that I wanted Jean Bart but her higher price point coupled with the fact that I already own Bourgogne really has me rethinking that.
I bought the regular Atlanta last year with a 25% coupon and my only regret is that I didn't wait until I could get her for 30% off. She can be a real game changer in Ranked this year and she is also a great ship for Brawls, Ops or Co Op. Not so much fun on a more crowded random map but I almost always play ranked, clan or brawls these days.
Scharnhorst is on my short list this year. I've played her as a short term rental a few different times and always enjoy the experience. She's the ultimate cruiser hunter of her tier IMO.
Atago is also on my short list, a solid boat at a good price point.
Lack of heal sinks Mainz for me. Hipper hulls fare poorly without a heal IMO.
Sims is so dang cheap she is worth a look IMO.
Got Chaklov in a free BF container a couple of days ago. Would be an awesome pick up if I played CV literally EVER. Oh well, free is still free.
Spending real world dollars on ANY ship that can be had for coal is dumber than dirt IMO. So just so no to the likes of Yoshino, Pommern, Kearsarge, Napoli and other coal premium ships.
Alaska is still one of the best large cruisers and IMO she or Massachusetts should be the ONE ship you should buy if you don't already have her.
Wherever I picked up a BF container… I still don’t know where it came from because when I selected “open all” I heard that beautiful noise telling me I have a new ship… and bloody hell it was the Mass ❤ Best ship I’ve ever won in the game and I’ve been playing since beta lol

Another difference between Bismarck and Tirpitz is that Tirpitz's front two secondaries can fire forward, as they can fire over the front one. The Bismarck cant fire both of the front two secondaries forward, the second in line cant fire over the first. Minor point, but i noticed it back when German BBs came out.

I got Alaska randomly. Watching you praise it and show a game with you running forward, radar, and then getting crushed by everyone on the opposite side kinda sums up my experience with it too... Only moderately fun.

Dunky is my fav ship in the whole game. It’s a flanking battlecruiser at higher tiers and at lower tiers I absolutely love getting a DD or CA behind me being pummeled by full secondaries as I charge towards anything else. Things have gotten a lot harder in current times with subs as it totally removes the bow tanking sticking all your guns out from behind an island strategy but still a lot of fun for me.

Agree on the Atlanta. Back in pre-carrier rework the Atlanta was a ton of fun to play and you prayed you would go up against a CV to deplane them. Jingles use to have a video of an Atlanta deplaning 2 enemy CV's but copyright slapped due to music in the video. Cossack is still good but another ship that was amazing pre-carrier rework. It pretty much has no AA and even though it has the brit smokes you don't always have a smoke available so you are defenseless to carrier spotting. Mass has been consistently fun to play through the years. I take out the Lo Yang only in ranked games the last time I had the game installed. Solid review of the ships

I can agree where you put Alaska. She is a really fun ship to play. Before the Black Friday event, Congress filled in the spot, since she’s essentially an Alaska with 2 guns removed and put at tier 8.😅
I picked up Mass B this year….I’d been hoping to get her in containers in the past, but I couldn’t keep waiting. So far, I love it.
I got Kearsadge, Chkalov, and Tirpitz from crates from missions and the sequential bundles. Probably going to plunk down the money for Napoli if i don't get her out of the crates i'm getting with the gold from the missions because goddamnit i want napoli with that camo on it, it's such a good camo.
I'm still mad I just barely missed out on vanilla Massachusetts (it was being sold with Georgia and Thunderer when I joined) so I'm glad I got Mass B from a BF crate last year.
I took the Massa and the Alaska... I read so many good things about those 2... I couldn't let that pass

I have an Asashio and an Asashio B on two different accounts and they have sweet win rates and earn big credits. Early it is all about spotting and making their BBs very very nervous. Save health and in the late game, an enemy DD finds he is in a gunfight beause you just hit him with a full bop of Japanese HE and then turn your narrow ass at him and fire again with 2/3 of a full broadside.
I LOVE it when T10 DDs go for me late in the game. They always underestimate how that trade is going to go.

The Atlanta is a "D"! I play it almost exclusively and in todays game, I struggle to get to cover from my spawn point without getting deleated. I like the Two Brothers map because I seldome get before I get behind a island. CV's STILL come after me and can sink me no matter what I do with my AA.

I was on the fence between the tirpitz and massachussets, ended up getting mass. So far I like it a lot. This video is very useful for those in a situation like mine
They aren't even close. Massachussets is so much better.
Asashio is a different style from most ships - even from Shima - and the unique style makes it fun for people who enjoy changing it up. Also, 'black' camo seems to make a lot of sense for the ninja-style battleship killer, But it's probably C tier. Atlanta.... I agree, fun, but its sooooo overmatched when uptiered, and it's BIG STICK AA was tossed in the weegee wood chipper long ago. It's D.

I bought 5 Black Friday boxes, the first one gave me a ship and it is Napoli B I'm excited to try it soon

I bought 5 BF premium containers, and from one of those I got the Saipan B.. not really cv players (played less than 400 matches with cv), but I've tried one match with it, and it was a quite ok imo.

I used my f2p doubloons to get the 1 premium container from sequential bundles and used the rest to get 2 separate premium containers. I of course got 1 of just four ships that I didn't want to get, I'll leave it to your imagination what those four ships are.
Shinonome has Kagero guns! And while those are not great, people underestimate them a lot! And that's 2 tiers lower!
I am running a meme build on zeppelin, is fun in endgame when you have one person to support you it’s a lot of fun, did. that yesterday and brawled away some people, and the last ones standing were me and the enemy cv…. I won

I bought 20 Black Friday containers this year. Out of those 20, I picked up an Alaska B, a Napoli B, a Massachusetts B, and a Saipan B . Best year ever.

JB may be a mediocre T9 ship. But it’s a monster credit printer.
I really enjoy my IFHE Atlanta in t6-t7 Ranked. People tend to bring brawler BB and DD at this tier and the Atlanta really shine. And when I see CV t6, I start to smile.
But it is worth to buy her for those Ranked? I don't think so unfortunately. Even if she is a monster in this situation, spending money just to use her when there are t6 t7 ranked is way too situational.

Mass, my most played ship.
After having it for 800 games and a 60% WR, 85k avg dmg and 1900PR for an average potato driver, I'll never play any other ship again.
Unless I need to wait for a game to end, then its back to the Alaska lool.
Both Massachusetts and Alabama are good ships. I wish they would bring in the rest of the South Dakota-class BBs.

I'm ashamed to tell but I bought the big container package and got 5 ships out of it. Napoli, JB, Massa, Kaga and Sims.
Since I own JB, Massa and Sims already the added dubs missions are the cherry on the cake. And with the price of the Napoli alone I got break even with that one ship.

4:32 Asashio is One of the strongest ships in this meta. It has best in class concealment and you outspot (or equal) all tier X and XI destroyers and if you struggle to have battle impact then I have to say that you are playing it wrong. Spot the DDs and sink the BBs and CVs. It's super fun...

I'm thinking of getting the Kaga B, only 500 doubs short, never spent in the game before. But should I? Considering they released a dev blog about AA and CV squadron changes few days ago.
I got the Kaga in the christmas containers last year and I like her. hands down the best tier 8 CV in the game. I read the blog and it doesnt look like its going to change much for anything.

Soviet cvs are going to be the new meta. Ijn planes have low hp and with the new aa dynamic you may eat your reserves

Funny how power changes with introduction of new line of ships. Cossack from S tier relegated to C at most, with introduction of whole line of radar DD's. Now when you see Gdansk in every single game you can't contest shiite in Cossack. Gee, I just wonder if devs think about this before?

the only ship I would want is the Napoli B. It would be a long time for me to get the coal version of the Napoli. however I dont mind whaling out the dubs for the Napoli. I like fire starting cruisers or cruisers with HE/AP setup. Probably the reason why I dont play Venezia because I get that inconsistent damage with SAP. However a Napoli with Sansoneti would be nice.

I have a 65% win rate in my Jean Bart, so it was a good ship. When it was released. It was removed for reasons that made sense at the time, in WG's thinking anyway. You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a Jean Bart for a time. Now it is kind of sad and I have not played it in about 4 months. It sits next to my Atlanta and collects dust now.
Man, playing Atlanta in Silver ranked is like cheating. It is so good still.
Jean Bart's a menace in tier 8/9 ranked though. Speed boost and reload booster on a BB is dank

I was going to buy the Chkalov and Alaska straight up this black friday sale, but since i pulled all that from the bundle for just $25, buying the Chkalov for 35 seems like a shit deal. I don't know, last year was awful for this, i think i only got the sims and mass from the loot boxes last year, and Alaska was the only ship i really wanted last year. but pulling it from one of the sequential bundles lootboxes took all the fire out of me to bother with spending any more money this year.
shame the smolinsk wasn't in the BF sale this year, i would have broke the bank for her.
hilariously i actually never got the Shinonome from the quest chain, didn't even know it was availible in one, and she's also the boat i had the best match in. first match in her, i got 6 kills, 100k damage, 2 subs, 2dds, 1ca, 1bb, and hard carried my team to the win. still haven't done that much in the other ships i got yea. my second best match in the new ships? also the shinonome with a 5 kill, 65k, 3 sub sinking beaut, for another win. the next best match out of the remaining was an Napoli match with 4 sunk ships, follow closely by an alaska's 3 sunk but 250k damage beaut.
as for why i do so good in the shinonome? because she's basically identical to the AL Yukikaze, a t8 Azure Lane waifu boath. i mean it's absolutely the same boat. same guns, same guns damage, same gun reload, same torps, torps do a little less damage, same smoke, same speed boost, less hps, a litle worse concealment. and i have some tremendous games in the AL Yukikaze, it's a solid boarding on strong boat even at t8, so of course i'd slaughter with the AL Yukikaze (smaller version) in a t7 match against t5 and t6 ships. i already slap stuff in the full version at t8 against t9 and t10 boats with all that radar and cvs and stuff. what do you think happens without all that stuff? you really have forgotten how stupid op it's guns are. they slaughter t6 dds, even with their poor reload, and i have sat in smoke, 5km from a t7 CA and just utterly eviserated it with those guns.
Had all the ships as regulars except for Chakalov, got "group-forced" by my fellow clan mates to buy a set of 5 crates for the lulz and got lucky. Managed to pull Chak and got Napoli B, which was the real steal because it allows me to run two different specced versions. But as I said luck, so I would agree that buying her directly for dubs isn't a wise choice and gambling on dropping the ship you want isn't clever either. I could have gotten totally screwed and get no ship out of the 5 crates given the drop chances. So keep that in mind. In my case it was a calculated risk, because I owned nearly all ships and thus getting the cash back mission did lower risks of overspending. On the other hand I pretty much know right now that I wont buy santa crates...
Asashio is S tier for me. BB's are terrified of it, you can hold back an entire flank just by being there and I have a ridiculous win rate in it. And when there are no BB's you can control most games with vision and cap control using the concealment. I Love my Asashio. It's my go to when I'm getting tilted playing other stuff and I get way more gun kills in it than you'd think. People just don't expect it to open up on them.
I wanted to like Asashio, but that thing ia so damn specialized. I'd rather play Kagero and have a better time, because I want to have a counter against almost every ship class. Asashio guns hit hard, but the bad reload with 30s turret traverse is a bummer. Also, its AA is so bad that you can't even shoot down fighters. So you're lit forever and you get punished way too hard for being good at killing BBs and CVs. Pan-Asian DDs might be better as their torps can at least at least hit everything except DDs. Nowadays MM isn't so consistent either, which means sometimes you get just 2-3 battleships that spawn on the other flank. So that leaves you feeling useless the entire match :( I've experienced that many a times and it sucks. Sure I can still spot, cap, but where is the damage?
I already have bama tho. Is massa really worth it if i have bama?
No if you like accurate guns, yes if you like to have fun

lol I think Atlanta was my first premium way back in the day, I think I have over 2 million xp on it, and Tirpitz I have 1.5 million or so, Warspite is probably around a million - my most played ships when the game was still in Beta.
The problem with Scharnhorst, is that it's just a Gneisenau that is worse in every way.
My problem with Massachusetts is the uselessness of the ASW with a 5km range. It's very frustrating when a T6 sub sits 6-8km and laughs at you while constantly launching homing torps at you. There is nothing you can do except wait and hope they surface so that you can kill them with your secondaries. At least with 10km ASW (like most other T8 BBs), you are feeling as if you are trying to do something about it.
I just take scharn as tier 9 battle cruiser with preferred matchmaking lol

Napoli is my go to for both CBs and when I'm getting tilted for a reason.
Atlanta isn't good but if you have one and a spare commander. Go full AA build. You get to negate T6 CVs and that's all you can really ask for from Atlanta these days.

JB is SSS tier in T9 in random games, I average 140k and 80 winrate in 200 games, it has a different playstyle than Bourgone.

I got yoshino, Saipan, and GZ from the 5 containers you get from the sequential bundles. I would recommend doing the sequential bundles but do not buy them on their own.
According to reddit calculations that may end up being more expensive if you just want one ship in particulae

Massa has pretty bad accuracy, it's very durable though with the quick heals. But as we are, uptiers it suffers as it's not a long range ship.
Since you enjoy playing French Battleships the most, clearly we need a Jean Bart one take. Thank me later.
Atago is the most fun T8 cruiser in the game. If you play her to farm, you are playing her wrong (her DPM is pretty shit). Atago is best at completely robbing the will to live from enemy DDs...
oh and Napoli above Alaska for meta is pretty wild
Asashio has "decent concealment"? WTF? It's elite concealment! It's among the least detectable ships in the game. That also makes it very potent in the end game. I agree on its other weaknesses, and it takes some skill/practice to play it well, but it definitely can deliver battle impact.
This is only covering Random's not any other game mode!!
I really wanted to get the Asashio B this year. But with the Birthday coupon not being a thing on EU i won't buy any dubs, because i think its overpriced without it. So no black ships for me this year.

I think Kearsarge can be way more powerful than people rank it, but it's also the most misplayed ship in the game. It's NOT a CV, but 9 out of 10 times, a Kearsarge on my team is a guaranteed. NOT because of the ship, but the way it's played.
Atlanta is A tier if you know how to play it right, D tier if you don't know how to play it. B is a good avg for where it should be.
Comments on ships I own, for years in all cases. I've played since day one of the CB, 19k battles. Good but far from a great player. My aim and positioning are inferior to PQ, Flamu, etc., so a ship's weaknesses are better revealed when I play them. One attribute of a great player is the ability to consistently play around weaknesses. I'm not that guy.
Alaska - PQ is spot-on. SS hurts Alaska's value. Still good against 9s and 10s.
Cossack - CV meta hurt this one, AA is poor (but you have 7 smokes). Otherwise a solid DD. I still like this ship. DR 5.5, gun range 11.9. Choose gunfights wisely because reload is 5 seconds. Cossack's big deal is 8 guns. In the right situations, it's still great. I think it's more of an A-tier ship.
Jean Bart - one of my most played ships, again PQ nails it. JBs principle faults are low HP and poor dispersion. The HP pool is a crime in the current meta. It still does well against T9, struggles against 10s and SS has really lowered its value. Avoid it.
Loyang - Agree with PQ's take - Loyang is good but not great, but for $20 it's a good deal. Its limitations include reach - 11.6 on the guns and 9.2 torps. Hydro can spot ships up to 5.5. Only 4 guns and low-yield torps mean DPM is the main weakness. Not a carry ship for sure.
Pommern - I hate this ship. Terrible dispersion, weak guns & terrible firing angles. Every game is a struggle and winning is usually a miracle. Supposed to be a brawler but just doesn't have the armor. Many ships now match its secondaries. Do not buy.
Scharnhorst - DPM is the problem here. You must stay until the end to be effective. T9 games can be a struggle, but otherwise rewarding to play. A legit brawler. I've had it forever and still play it. Great for upskilling captains. Even when losing I usually perform well in it. I agree with PQ on Mass vs. Scharn though.
I had Shinonome years ago and got rid of it. Avoid.
I might get a Mass this year.
Mass secondary build is a monster and not something anyone wants to encounter at tier 8. I went up against 2 bismarks with secondary builds and they both sank to the bottom of the see as they ran from me with my 11.3K secondary range. The minute they spotted me. they stopped and thought reversing was the best thing for them to do. I even went as far as trolling the ship with IFHE so the secondaries can do more damage. Overall, I have both Mass B and Mass and love it
Massachusetts B is good. I got it today. Dispersion is hit and miss but it has NC guns that when it hits hard it really hits hard. Also torpedo belt is good. You also have reliable secondaries but don't go out there charging.
I really wanted to pick Jean Bart but match making is making it very underpowered facing super ships.

I think you are underrating asashio. I will give some data in the end to underline my take.
I do not feel its one dimensional at all.
- it has best of the tier conceal
- it has high alpha guns wich is not great to farm, but actually very good against other DDs when kiting, because on the kite you can wiggle without losing any DPM. It maintains 100% dpm while heavily rudderjuking, unlike other DDs.
- the torps are extremely strong. yes you cant deal with cruisers, but you obliterate BBs wich is very usefull in the meta. Just like kaga being able to kill BBs quickly will often snowball games into your favor.
-earns a lot of credits
I do not think its a "nieche playstyle". I play it exactly like i´d play kagero, yugumo and other concealment+Torp DDs. You just dont hit Cruisers with the torps. But you can still reverse contest caps, bully others out with superior conceal etc. and if its a very radar heavy game you can still just launch torps at BBs effieciently while being safe, unlike other T8 DDs like benson, kagero, kidd, lightning etc.
To me its amogn the best T8 DDs >>>for normal games
I got the Kearsarge in my second mission reward container, but I have no idea how to play CVs, so unfortunately it's just a useless ship for me :)
Last year I bought the Cossack B and it's still amazing. Now I'm considering to buy the Jean Bart, because it's the only time to get it and for tier 9 ranked it is probably God tier.
You have other ships at tier IX that would be better than the Jean Bart. It gets overmatched in tier IX matches as well. As far as god tier for its ship. its not.
You don't NEED to use her planes like a cv. Her 12 guns are crazy dangerous. Two full pens add up to almost 10k damage. Her guns are pretty much Monty levels, but a bit floaty

@@CCM1199 only 460+ can overmatch* 32mm, so only Georgia and Musashi in t9 can overmatch it
@@CCM1199 Well, the ONLY ship that overmatches 32mm at tier IX is the Musashi, but HE spam from cruisers and DDs will be a problem ofc. Then again, a lot of tier X BBs only have 32 bow and stern as well.
