- TikTok’s chief executive has vowed to ‘keep fighting’, after the US House of Representatives passed a bill that could see the app banned in the US.
Shou Zi Chew warned that if the bill becomes law, it will mean the end of the app for its 170 million users in the US.
While the bill passed overwhelmingly in the vote, it still needs to clear the Senate and be signed by the president to become law.

This is about information control. If bytedance had the majority of the shares, all the 3 letter agencies cannot access the database and user data which is stored in the server, which it can freely do with the likes of facepuke, instagay, youturd and X.

TikTok feeds your data straight to the CCP, which has been building up their military with the specific intent of surpassing the US. Constantly being barraged with advertisements, groups or pages over the people I’m actually connected with. A non-stop stream of content that is intentionally designed to provoke an emotional reaction out of people and further cause divide in societies that are becoming increasingly divided. Which walks hand in hand with your point about misinformation and its destructive impact on people’s ability to think critically. The fact that Tik-Tok and Instagram reels are slowly hindering people’s ability to focus for long periods of time, which is particularly worrisome for children whose brains haven’t fully developed. This is also contributing to phone addiction.
It’s causing far more harm than good. Getting rid of Instagram and Facebook was by far the best decision I’ve made in a while. If I want to get an update on a friend’s life, I’ll ask them directly.
