A few years ago I was going to end my life. I made my plan, left a note for my family, and said my goodbyes in ways that would draw as little attention as possible. During the fifteen minute drive to place where I was going to do the deed This is the Time just so happened to play on my suggested playlist. I fell in love with it instantly. I listened to as much of your music as I could get my hands on. The fifteen minute drive turned into three hours as I drove around and just listened to you guys. For the first time, in what felt like ages, I was genuinely excited about something. I wanted to hear more, see you guys grow as artists, and maybe even one day see you onstage. That was all that I needed. The one small light at the end of the dark tunnel that I had been in. One thing to grasp on to and pull myself out. I didn't go through with my plans. I went home and never spoke of it to anyone. To this day, I have never told anyone about this and nobody knows except me. I just wanted you guys to know that you genuinely saved my life that night. Love you guys and keep kicking ass!!

This talks deeply to me. I feel it's about when you were 17 and the air was clearer. The food was delicious. Love was normal. The grass was greener. Before social media. Now it's just all fucked. Everyone is depressed and waiting for happiness like it'll just come back to us. Time slips from us so much faster. It's darker outside even in the daylight. I want to bring the best times back.
That's deep man. You're right though. The modern world just isn't the same as the past. It feels cold and empty.

You guys are definitely starting to become my favourite band, such a brilliant mix of emotion, aggression, and absolutely brilliant songwriting and production all over. As much as I love AB this album is on another level
One of the best albums, from front to back, from all layers of the music and the editing, that I've ever heard in my short lifetime.
I can never appreciate these guys enough for the emotion their music evokes, and the lasting impressions they will leave on me as I grow older, and eventually pass this music onto others.
Very underrated band, having seen them 3 times live(and any other chance I ever get), I can say they're one of the most influential, creative, diverse groups I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.

It just hits every single emotional chord in me and I just need to know what the musical aspect of it is.
So sorry if I overdo this (not sure your comfort level). The bass walks up from Ab to Bb to C, and the C is minor compared to the other major emphasis notes. The whole song plays with a minor, “sad” feel in the verse going to a really bright major “happy” feel in the chorus. The fact that it hits C (minor sound) instead of Eb (Major landing zone) creates a sense of missed opportunity to the ear (“we went the wrong way”). It sits on the Bb for the second line (which again makes us want the Eb) before repeating the Ab-Bb-c bit to drive you crazy right before it builds and hits the super bright Eb major chord when the chorus starts. This makes the arrival of the chorus peak satisfying to many listeners. Hope that at least suggests what’s happening. My favorite parts are the key change (“the world is brighter than we thought”) and the “What’s left in my heart” at the end which just drives a rocket to the pinnacle point of the song. I’m a bit obsessed right now, honestly…

Whuhhhh??? Deja Vu (though not as crazy and mindblowing as the other tracks) was like instantly my personal favorite. That may be because of how much I resonated with the lyrics and stuff. But also I loved the style and the mellow, almost psychedelic?? type of sound. I hope it grew on you.
