I have a 1980 xl 500r super cool and fun bikes. Mine only had 1600 miles when I got it I got it running and i will choose that over my harley more then half the time lol
What do you like better about the Yamaha XT500? Our Yamaha XT250 has had a noisy engine from day one. The XL500 was the bike to have until the XL600 came along. I am blessed to have one of each right now. I do enjoy the 500 partly because of nostalgia, but the 600 is better in every way. Happy trails!

There is a screw you can adjust on that horn. This will clean it up to a nice loud and crisp horn.
It's actually working now. I replaced the battery and all the electrical started working correctly.

The XL500 is better in pretty much every way except parts availability. You can get a lot more parts for the XT/TT.
