The voice of the women is just like the first light of sun, which hits into your face when you just get out of the dwarf dungeon. Impressive arrangement! Gut gemacht!
Hmmm The Dwarves' version is sad and speaks of the glories that had been lost. This seems like the human version. It speaks of the glory and riches one can find if they are brave enough to venture into the Misty Mountains.
Big hobbit and Lord of the rings fan. I know all riddles of Bilbo and gollum.. know all songs from the animated movies...and I love this version too....awesome job! The men and the ladies voices are beautiful. Love the accompanying music too
This is an amazing recreation of the song, the beautiful ladies gave this song so much more character, bravo ladies and gent bravo yall did this song stunning justice!!! ❤
*****Great song. I think the words are important. Misty, dungeons, caverns, forgotten gold, roaring, moaning, night, blazed. I'd like to see this group go into the wilderness for a while, and then sing the song. That would be classic.
Wonderful! Gave me chills. I really enjoyed hearing both female and male voices. I am hard-core, long-time LOTR and Hobbit fan. I have ALL the DVDs, all the cds, books and other reference material. J.R R. Tokien was brilliant.
I don't know what the hate was for I think this is an extremely good cover, the Women's voices add something special to it making it different to the rest, it sounded very professional and I loved it.
I agree, It is good cover. The "haters" as an any one can compare this with original. And I am say too - yes, it is differ. But variations it is not to bad and this is very good variation. I do not recognize it as canonical cover but enjoy it as a separate performance. There was added womens voices, added few variety and few self-expression. And because it make differ this variation with original soundtrack - they become hate this.
@@schrodinger6991 yeah I mean it's too happy. This is a dark song sung in the shadows by 13 dwarves on a suicide mission. It's not terrible though I don't hate it.
Lyrics: Far over the misty mountains cold, to dungeons deep and caverns old. The pines were roaring on the height, the winds were mourning in the night. The fire was red, it flaming spread. The trees like torches blazed with light. The mountain smoked beneath the moon, the dwarves they heard the tramp of doom. They fled the hall to dying fall, beneath his feet, beneath the moon. The sword is sharp, the spear is long. The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong. Far over the wooden mountain tall, the wind may blow and rain may fall.
IIJasminII or you could just look it up in the book. Which if you are a LOTR fan, as you claim for listening to this song, you should own the books and therefore already have the lyrics.
I have sung bass in church choirs most of my life singing melody is rare indeed. It is fun though singing bass as the bass line is often the foundation of the piece. I am also a big fan of alto singing. Most female soloists seem to be soprano but I really enjoy a female vocalist with an alto range voice.
I've been hearing Str8voices version of that song since the movie. Just think it's fantastic. Now that I read the comments, can help but feel said for some people. Actually, the sadest thing is that Str8voices channel has only few songs. I wish I could have more of them.
Why is everyone hating so much? They sang it straight from the book, and it was a cover. It's not meant to sound like the original. I think this sounded lovely.
I love this take on the song. Its well done and well presented, and while it may not be exactly like the original, it is beautiful on its own and worth listening to.
Everytime I watch this I fell so much! Never can explain it. I just know my day goes better. Thank you. Life is short and anything you have to make it better is a plus!
*Folks, You just can't hate those wonderful vocals of these Ladies. Absolutely breathtaking. Just imagine This Is The version When Dwarfs honor the The King after his Death.*
I am a major Lord of the Rings, Hobbit fan of the novels first. I listened to this first before watching the video, unlike most of the men I assume making negative comments. I found it a lovely interpretation. When you listen only you let the voices take you places like you would when you read the book.
Lady curb your assumption, we don't see negative comments here, they did a really fine job, made it sound like an epic than a Ballard, a real great job!
I love this song. It's pretty in every way. I should say it's rather glorious! I play the violin and it makes your heart rumble. Great song! Thank you for sharing. Peace, Spenta
Was tabbed out and the ladies' part started... the males go from smoldering revenge, the women to a haunting, mournful wail! After another.... 30 time hearing this song... there are 4 bone-chilling chord changes in some longer sustained areas......... LOVE IT.
No problem with female voices, nice harmonies. What wrecks it for me is the march-disco percussion track which completely changes the rhythm of the movie original
+DeGuillac I also agree that this is badly done and destroys the original, but also the women coming in destroyed the song, it's a dwarven song and how many female dwarfs did you see in the movies, tolkien would agree with me.
+J Lawton Given what Peter Jackson did to the books, including adding in an elf-dwarf romance, I wouldn't take the films as any kind of standard. But if we were talking about the original, I'd agree -- female dwarves look and sound male, according to Tolkien. But this is a cover version, so quite open to changes, and the female voices add a pleasant contrast to the deep male ones, much as a higher instrumental accompaniment would, so I don't think they do any harm.
This is as amazing as the first time I heard it. I cannot understand how people can't see how fitting the women voices are. This is an awesome cover! :)
Really enjoyed this version of a song that I love. The blends of higher ranges are a welcome addition that change the feeling of the song for me completely. I loved the empty sorrow of the original’s poignance and that has an emotional place for me to listen to. This version has a kind of hope added to it, making it feel more heroic or giving a feel of overcoming a great hardship or burden which also definitely has an emotional place for me to listen too. I hope the creators are looking at the upvotes, balanced responses and number of views rather than some of the comments. If you want to hear the original then that's what the original version is there for. I personally don't get it when songs are covered to be identical to the original and prefer to hear a different spin on an idea which Str8voices have certainly done.
I really love that cover. I also love the idea of women dwarves singing together with their husbands before they leave for the fight. (Just my thoughts about the female voices)
*looks at comments* yeah, you should scroll back up. P.S, the women are doing a fine job. if anything, I think it sounds pretty epic with their addition
A vocalist can not possibly express him/her self without moving his head according to the song's feelings. So the men here don't have to much tense on their vocals as the women; thats the reason why women (on this song) must move their heads, and in order to make that happen without disturbing the viewer, they tend to do it with their own, charming , way. In my opinion of course
love this song so much , two thumbs up you gave justice to the song i love especialy when it is sang low like thorin oakenshield the one who sang it in the movie , love this song two thumbs up . :)
regardless of whether you like this rendition or not there are elements in the Harmonies that resonate with the addition of the female vocals, as for the male element of this there is no greater example than the last phrase between 2:26-2:41, gave me chills.
BEST COVER EVER! You guys and gals did EXCELLENT job! Couldn't love the girls' part more! I'm literally enchanted and fascinated every time I hear it - and mind my words, I listen to it A LOT! The very last verse at 2:34 "..and rain may fall" has a tremendous vibrato effect in the word "fall". Wondering if that is an unaided (electronically) human voice creating that stunning effect?
other than those two, i agree with you. As i believe that this song was originally written to be low as like the beginning and the end, but the middle section with the girls was a bit taken back from the overall feel meant to be given from the song, but overall it was a well designed cover of an amazing song.

Been loving you guys for a long time-and think you are fantastic!
Are your's nationality German?
do you have the lyrics of this song? i only see a different version on google
what a pretty song
Not for nothing, but this version is better than the one you released on streaming.

which tells you what about humans?...
Tojo and be the one to kill Smaug and put the dead dwarves to rest you must be sharp and keen to defeat him.
It was both. This song was also the dwarves hoping to go back someday to get the riches and glory back.
I didn't get that. They barely mention the gold, but they spend a good deal of time talking about Smaug killing them and driving them from their home.
@@generalgrievous6833 brave, curious problem solvers.

Fair point.

It wasn't floor you dumbass, it was lava and volcano
But it mainly got wonkyat 0:40
It's amazing how understanding what they're going for reduces the humor.
I somehow imagine the men as dwarves and the women as the elves, both singing a song from ancient times while they rejoice after the battle...
+Ereptile yeah
.
...
i do agree. though i sense the elves were happy somehow. 😅
That's epic. That's incredibly epic.
This is an amazing recreation of the song, the beautiful ladies gave this song so much more character, bravo ladies and gent bravo yall did this song stunning justice!!! ❤
Both versions are nice. The original one sounds more mystic, the female addition in this one makes it sound like an epic.

***** can't agree with you more
Martynas Montrimas Exactly the origional is the epic story tale, the change of lyrics aswell don't do it justice
