I talked with them today after submitting their online form. They have redone the module connection and have redone the cables with a thicker guage of wire. They are a bit backlogged with requests so I'm hoping to hear more later this week.
Ok makes sense. The whole issue with the original design was the cable can work its way lose from the connection causing issues that overheat and melt part of it. The replacement I got included a new locking bracket that I screwed into the back of the unit. I wonder if the new units have that feature built in rather than an add on.
I am glad I found this, thanks for the upload!!! I installed one of those cables for a customer a few months ago and its having those issues you mentioned. The other problem is that it is killing the car battery.
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment. I never had any issues with the original equipment, but as I show in the video the old connector was indeed too loose. Everything has been solid with the recall replacements they sent. For the starter battery issue, are you sure the link unit is in car mode and not in tank mode?
Just curious if you saw the latest recall? I see two statements on their site, one stating stop using and get a refund, and another that says they will send a replacement kit. Have you researched anything yet? I'll try calling them tomorrow. I've been using mine for years now on a 2017 4runner with no problems. I love it and don't want to lose it's functionality.
When I did this it was just the EC8 cable recall. So no I had seen they recalled the whole link module. I will check mine and address if needed for sure!
@@DadsVan thanks for responding. The only way I can come up with is to use the Yeti Link in tank mode and install a separate DC to DC battery charger to charge the expansion battery bank. The Yeti Link will recharge the batteries via the AC power input and solar inputs on the Yeti and the DC to DC battery charger will recharge the expansion batteries via the alternator. Hopefully that made sense. Merry Xmas.

I did the recall and got my package 2 days ago. New cable looks way more beefy. I actually don’t know how it’s gonna fit where my old plug is lol

Great video. Do you know of a way to use the Yeti Link to increase a Yeti 3000 battery capacity and utilize charging from the alternator?
I do not but if you call goal zero tech support they might have some direction on that setup. Good luck with your build!
