@@xballistixx He looked really annoyed when Will Ferrell started over-singing. BJ was one of the main writers of the show and this whole performance was a surprise for Steve Carrell, so he was probably frustrated when the producers came in and made him ruin Michael’s final swan song.

Fun fact- the script that Steve got didn't include the song, it ended with Andy giving him the award. Everything you see on Steve's face is his genuine reaction. If you watch all of the actors, you can see their genuine reactions to Steve leaving. Simultaneously heartbreaking and beautiful.
You can see Oscar smiling uncontrollably in the beginning, Stanley grin at Creed's line, and Angela grab Phyllis's hand throughout the song. SO CUTE

@This is the way 420 But in 2020, it came to light that there may have been other factors at play in Steve's exit. In author Andy Greene's book The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s, several of the show's crew members said that Steve didn't want to leave at all. In fact, he'd planned to stay on the show, but the network never made him an offer.

We just have to admit that we've all cried watching this scene. It was heartbreaking to watch him go. No matter how stupid or irritating a guy he was, he genuinely was a nice man who wanted good for the people around him.
It took me 10 episodes of Season 8 to finally realize that Michael isn't coming back. With Season 7, an era ended.

Robert California was curious.. but no Michael Scott. I think he knew he was taking the show with him, but I want to live in a world where he is happy. It may seem kind of crazy to want other people to be happy while you're still striving for a foothold.. but Steve Carell has a touch. He makes it "just so obvious" that you don't realize how humble and humbled he is.

The fact that they didn't want him to pry in their personal lives or have any contacts with him outside of their 9-5 job hours but kept singing "remember to call" before he left is so wholesome.
When they all stood up and sang, "Remember to call" I almost started crying and felt chills on my arm. This really was a goodbye after all these years and it was starting to feel real in that brief moment.

I was finally watching the Micheal says goodbye episode the night that Netflix dropped the show. You have a real moment! I just broke down when Pam finally caught up with him. He was a little clunky, but there probably wasn't a dry eye in the house when he wrapped.

I thought it was reported that the cast had to sing this song multiple times because they couldn’t through it

When they say “ we actually sat down and did the math” let’s be honest, that was just Oscar working quietly and quickly, while everyone stood around, impatiently waiting for him to finish 🤣🤣

All characters are very well written and very important to the show, but Michael is the glue that makes it work so much better.

Michael’s development was fantastic, you can see in this final season that he has learned to love himself and laugh at himself and make things about other people’s enjoyment over his own, his character’s development was so well written

The way Michael is looking around just looks so genuine. Holding back tears. No acting. Just from the heart. Such an emotional moment.
I mean he probably knew this scene was happening but those emotions are real

It's even better when you watch it in person. One of the many office moments that brought out the tissues.
