    Had a smaller hotel last year which worked pretty well, but I've just purchased that very same hotel. Yours was probably the clearest explanation of its use. Many thanks :)

      Good morning Maximo, it is just so fascinating isn’t it? And another thing I found out since is that at the end of the year the bees choose a new queen, they mate with her, she goes off and gorges on nectar then buries herself underground to hibernate, the old queen, the males and the female worker bees all die off, then the new queen wakes up in spring, lays eggs and it all starts up again. Isn’t nature fabulous? 😍

     the volume is just fine on your video, not sure why the complaints. Also, you have a refreshingly soft speaking voice, no yelling and sharp, aggressive babbling, which I really appreciate. Maybe people are used to someone yelling and over-projecting?

      Oh that’s reassuring to hear Greg thank you. The problem is I don’t have a mic, I did buy one but it had a lead and I kept forgetting and every time I moved it yanked out my ears 😆 then I wanted to get a wireless one but goodness me there are so many I always end up getting confused when I look. I must get one though but a good one is not cheap. So I think as long as it’s not too windy on the day it’s not too bad. I have had comments which I think are justified. But so nice of you to say it’s not that bad ♥️ happy Friday 👍😊

      Sharon, this is my first ever bee hotel 🐝 and so far I have not seen one single bee or insect using it so that’s disappointing. I researched it so much and I know it’s in the right spot and everything, but I’m still optimistic that something uses it. I’ve seen on Facebook people only just noticing bees starting to use their ones so I think there’s still time 🤞

    Thank you so much for your video. I've just purchased one (each) of these for my children (I home Educate). The Box & instructions don't give great detail. I'm so glad I found your video as I've learnt so much more already. Do you think it will be too late to put them out now (we are in the North East - UK). Can these be used over and over for a few years or will they only last the one time? Also, ours came with paint and the paint has already been put on now (only on the centre part with slot and a hanging “welcome” type deco that came with it). It is children's paint so hopefully won't be an issue. Will the house attract wasps? Thank you so much.

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello there and thank you so much for watching. I’m so glad to have helped and I’m sure your children are going to have a lot of fun with this. Well, that’s a very good question and I’ve just googled it! Apparantly the bees choose a new queen this time of year and she goes off after she’s mated and she’s gorged herself with nectar to use as fat stores and hibernates underground. The old queen, the male bees and the female worker bees all die off in their annual cycle. When the new queen wakes up in the Spring she goes off to finds a new house and starts laying eggs and off goes the whole process again. I think that is more like honey bees which require a big hive. But Then there are other types of solitary bees which spend the winter as pupae hibernating somewhere. Isn’t nature wonderful? So nothing is going to happen in your new little house this year but hopefully they will find your house in Spring. I don’t suppose the childrens paint you’ve used will hurt them. Good luck 🤞
