It was supposed to be a handheld game console that can play NES, SNES and Genesis games, as well as native CD-ROM games (including Cheetahmen 3). It got announced in CES and then got cancelled because, I assume they spoke to a hardware guy who said "you want to build a what?".
You may have been kidding about the Mario wrestling game, Next Level Games was actually working on one. It got canned over the ability to beat up characters who were already down. I think Nintendo should've just said to have that ability or part removed.
