- EA Sports PGA Tour is probably the best golf game on the market right now, though that might not be as bold of a statement as it sounds. With the exception of a few important players and courses, this return to golf for EA provides virtually everything you would want in a golf sports game in 2023, including some of the greatest courses and best players in the world, as well as a chance to play alongside them in a career.
The updated gameplay system works great the majority of the time, and it feels like a step forward in golf gameplay, especially compared to EA’s past golf games. Knowing that there are now two PGA Tour licensed games on the market, you’re not going to see enormous differences between the two, but if you’re looking for a golf game to play and haven’t picked one up in a while, EA Sports PGA Tour will do just fine. - Hry
I absolutely love the game but here are my biggest gripes:
- Player customization. This is an EA game where you SHOULD be able to make your character look just like you. The lack of full customization, including swing, is a huge miss.
- Cup physics. There’s some questionable physics when it comes to slow rolling putts not lipping in.
- Challenges. I shouldn’t have to back out of the challenge to go to the next one. I should be able to just go to the next challenge after I complete one.

Im sure there are more swings coming, they are fixing green and lip physics and menus for the challenges, these things will be added over time
Yea, I agree with the character customization. It is as basic as it gets. That was the biggest con for me. The positives overweigh the cons. The courses are amazing and you feel like you’re playing that course.

agree with the score. I'm struggling with it but simply the learning curve, every time I play I get a little better at it and not just because of the attributes. That's how a Golf game should be. and yeah it's a GOOD Looking game!

I’m really enjoying the game a lot. There are some minor bugs and the menu when customising your golfer is soooo sluggish, but other than that it’s a fantastic golf game
I wish there was more characters to or custom faces but yeah it’s been a lot better then 2k golf in my opinion at first I didn’t like it because my character was ass but once you get some specs and upgrade your gut it starts to get fun and I actually like the tournaments

i expected this game to have a great character creator, since tiger woods 2010, my favorite game in the series, had a pretty much perfect character creator 13 years ago. it's annoying how so many things in games are getting worse instead of better.
Been enjoy PGA tour a little bit more polish to be as good as 2k. But a great game to start with the graphics are gorgeous
Been playing a couple hours of this with the trial and I’m enjoying it even though I’m terrible at it haven’t played a golf game since like 2007, I’m enjoying it but I keep wondering, I hear a lot of opinions online that ad far as modern golf (last five years), PGA Tour 2K21 is the peak, is that really a better game or is this the way to go?

Anyone know how to play a game online with your friend where you don’t have to be your created golfer? If you host you can pick any golfer but if you’re the invitee you can only be your created golfer.
Ball rolls forever like it’s on concrete. I can also put max backspin on a green shot and it still bounces forward and rolls for a mile.
The swing mechanic is the part I don't really enjoy. Whereas 2k21 feels 1 to 1 with controller input, EA PGA feels slow and slightly behind my input. It's taken a lot to get used to.
I noticed that. Wherever you want to stop your swing, you need to stop early because this micro lag delays the input. I’ve adjusted but you’re right. It’s not a lag on my end.
i got the 2k21 a coupleof days ago for sh* s and giggles and let me tell you the swing is on point lol as soon as i move my analog it swings in the game, very satisfying
EA Tour has the classic 3 click swing ....its on the trial version on xbox live . Makes the game great again !

The physics are kind of off. The ball will roll right through the rough. But puts seem to just stop on a dot without a realistic roll compared to 2k.
I am loving the game. the courses are amazing.
2k23 is free on ps+ this month. downloaded it and didn't even make it through a round before deleting it, it's awful. now i am considering spending $70 on this one.
i've always liked the series, besides the lack of content in recent entries like rory. sounds like that won't be a problem with this game though, with 30 courses in the base game.
is the character creator as good as ever in this one? the character creation in 2k23 was also extremely lacking. crazy that the character creator in tiger woods 2010 is 100 times as in-depth as 2k23.

I’m enjoying this game a lot. EA Sports did good with it.
Great gameplay but needs a lot of new features.
Especially character customisation, swing animations, swing tuning, more golfers & legends, more tournaments to spend tickets on etc.
At least they give you 3 swing styles it’s nit all the same like 2k
I was a fan of the EA Sports Tiger Woods’ games so I’m glad this one came out. I played PGA 2K21 and I didn’t really like it so I passed on 2K23.

@Rique I have a theory on this and it's certainly not because of sales. Rich executives actually play golf. They don't play football or basketball. Because of this it's more or less bragging rights. Game far outpaces whatever revenue they are bringing in based on sales.

Vastly improve character creation (It's kinda lame compared to old ea games), add leaderboards for all course records/stats, then the big one... let us add friends in Career Mode!
tiger woods 2010 on xbox was my favorite golf game. perfect character creation tool and gameplay.
it's annoying how aside from visuals, games are getting worse in a lot of ways recently. there's no reason a character creator in this game should be far inferior to a game they made 13 years ago.
It is a solid game that released too early. If they iron out the issues and add some well needed basic features, this will be the best golf game on the market. Calling it "polished" is a bit far stretched though, GamingBolt ^^
Seems like classic EA on that aspect. Seems like the new trend is release games not ready and over time update and fix as players report them. Ridiculous they charge so much for pretty much a bugged version of games but at least it does get better.
@ChiefChain this game suffers from significantly less bugs than madden. It's actually a rather solid product with a few kinks. Getting another big wave of patches soon starting tomorrow.

@@LonghornsLegend Sadly EA ignored most community issues and just released a bunch of new courses and mostly cosmetics for MTX.
I would not recommend it at this point. Only on a deep sale and if you are looking for the single player career mode.

You CAN play at Augusta on PGA 2k games, you just have to know what the locations are called in the player-created courses. They obviously wont be labeled "Augusta" , because the dev's will take it down. But there is 100% Augusta, Pebble Beach etc.
That games graphics are worse than most mobile games tho. Im about ready to switch to this one

There are multiple LIV tour players in the game
How can the reviewer say there isn’t much else you could want from a golf game? A career mode with the full PGA and European Tours, all past hosts of any majors, all tour players to compete against and the top 50 as playable characters. Plus the a ability to earn Ryder Cup captaincy and pick the team for whichever side you chose to represent. Maybe a Ryder Cup mode where you play as every golfer on your chosen team and can compete against others. That would be the perfect golf game.
Ea SPORTS is back to where it should be, playable, amazing and great. It was shocking when 2k came out and it was bad on all levels, but it is great they done this right....thanks for sharing

I've been playing the 2k games and as they were previously called The Golf Club games for many years now and there are hundreds of thousands of courses, some dirge of course but many excellent and extremely creative ones!
Thats because everyone knows that. Except in the EA game you have 30 courses that all play differently except in 2K you have thousands of courses that play 3 different ways

@@Zirus_Blackheart To be fair some of the courses are absolutely wonderful in 2K, but they are a bitch sometimes because creators have to fudge the courses a bit to get them either quicker or slower, i love both games but i’m just having a blast with EA’s right now with the RNG shot dispersion stuff, i find in 2k it was too easy to put it exactly where you want whereas EA’s feels like a real shot every shot, doesn’t mean i prefer one over the other though, pros and cons

maybe it gets better as you get used to it, but i've always enjoyed ea's tiger woods games over the years and never lost interest in one this quickly.
sadly i hear the character creation in ea's latest game is pretty disappointing too, but i don't think it can be as bad in 2k23, i hope not at least.

Agreed! That's what I love about 2k23. You get to watch your opponents shot. So many better options with 2k23. I also love that you can fast forward the ball in 2k23. I bet EA doesn't have that. So many better options with 2k23.

I bought it and it’s decent I’m not like these who Damn it to hell. But this is an honest concept of it. I think the graphics have added the price. The game should be like 24.99 or something even PS5 currently has it on offer by nearly 50 percent. I’d give the game personally a 4 or 5. It’s EA so it’s bound to have many issues and fall downs etc. shame only two games in the sport but there needs to be another brought to the table.
There are about 15 Augusta National perfect renditions in 2k21
They are very good but what they have done here is on another level. I have yet to even see any spots missing flowerbeds etc. I cannot stand EA but gotta give em credit on this one.

I don’t understand why a con is that the game is lacking pros when you can’t even play one in career mode…that is one flaw about golf games is never being able to play as those guys for a career. Would love to take Rahm or Tiger and win majors. Am I just the only one?

Its def the best golf game made so far for console for sure. The career mode is just so much more in depth.

@@omgthisguy638i just tried 2k23 because it's free this month on playstation, set it to the hardest difficulty, and found it to be way more difficult than any ea golf game i've played. felt nearly impossible to consistently swing straight.
As someone who played both i am definitely a ea pga guy over 2k23 2k just feels to arcadey and to easy i like the challenge and the difficulty the feels is better everything is just better imo lol

Years ago I used to play EA Golf online (when it was Tiger Woods IIRC) and on every hole on every course there were - challenge points. E.g. 250 yards off the tee, 300 yards, a 25' putt, 50' putt, birdie, eagle, hole in one. You got points for each of these challenge points, and you could cash the points in for better gear. I loved it. Then EA fucked the game play with an update - all of a sudden the predictability of the game just disappeared. Courses that you knew well and could score well at would suddenly turn into monsters and your ball would go all over the place, overrun, stop on a dime, drift off to either side - and so many people complained they just took it offline.
Is that still in this version of the game?

Might grab this.. tried the 2k23 gane after quitting golg games and the whole pressing x to swing and hit was diabolical. This looks like the old school setup with analog sticks. A bit like the SKATE game. How it should be!

They released it to coincide with the masters the same weekend, even though they knew it had a lot of issues some have been fixed but 60 fps is coming sometime.
I have one question about this game. Can I tap L1, or whichever button it may be now, to add spin to the ball while it’s in flight?
You can turn that on and off, when you get good enough certain shots with naturally spin the ball like you want

haven't tried this one yet but i've played a lot of ea's tiger woods games in the past and always got some enjoyment out of them. from everything i hear ea's latest pga game is far superior in every way, except maybe the character creator which sounds equally disappointing. weird because tiger woods games from 13 years ago had amazing character creation tools, no reason these modern games shouldn't have equally good or preferably even better than 10+ year old games.

I picked this up from Asda for a fiver ...at this early stage ,I think that's a fair price .I also have The Golf Club 2019 and ,so far I prefer it to this .E.A. Have done their usual thing and tried to appeal to all gamers. it's too bright ,way too many cut scenes that break up the flow, too much commentary, there's a distinct pause as you attempt backswing, no sense of instinctive power control, ball physics on greens crazy. It does have a large amount of adjustment to the control ,which has helped ,so maybe with a bit of fettling you'll find a usable game. Just an arcade game ,not a good golf game .
Is the gameplay like pga tour rory mcliroy? Cause that's the best so far when it comes to gameplay. That meter setting is terrible
You say about short game "confused once every hole or 2". That means that virtually every hole you had a problem. If it was "that bad", no one would play more than an hour or 2 and it would have over-neg reviews on steam.
Wish there were more big names or legends that you played against in career. Bubba and DJ are in the game but don't play in the career.
The game is very good, however in 2023 should EA bring out games not finished and with bugs.
I’m in the uk , not all stars are available , the putting grid is wrong on many putts , no online play at all , which for me is the main reason to purchase.
I can’t see my opponent play , match play I should see my opponent play his shot and then he watches me , or it should be an option.
I paid £64.99 for an incomplete game , EA it should be £30 and then u can charge me for a working update.

3 click swing for us "retro people" kind of suck on 2K23 in comparison though. EA PGA Tour has the classic version.

Before this, the best golf video game was actually GTA 5's golf side activity.
Maybe it's because I've been gaming since the Apple II+ was state of the art,, but I couldn't be more disappointed. Visually, it's wonderful, but the game play is trash. The majority of the round is spent in loading screens, the music is abysmal and for F 's sake, having to turn off the repetitive announcing every time I start the game is a pain. It shouldn't be hard to set off as a default. The swing itself is either simplistic (up through tour settings) or a nightmare of specifics (simulation mode). Moving a ball right or left is a crap shoot as the swing plane changes to odd angles that don't seem to conform to the controller's natural movements. Sadly, set up is completely absent from the process. Your stance and ball position are fixed and picking your flight and trajectory is a simple as moving an arrow and swinging. It could be nostalgia and maybe I need to go back and replay it, but EA's Tiger Woods series seemed to be so much more complete. I was really hoping that EA Sports would return to PGA glory, but as the video mentions, it's not at all different from 2k's version, which was lacking as well. 6/10.

Playing on pc give by far the best experience. With frame rate unlocked and at 4k ultra with proper HDR the game looks stunning. What really matters though is the gameplay. Sadly the ai scoring is broken. But I have designed my own gameplay mod. Consequently career mode with 100 opponent difficulty is now absolutely brilliant and totally absorbing. I doubt ea will fix the ai bug. I have submitted a bug report through. A great game on pc. But only when modded. The vanilla game is broken.
It's a good game but and there is a big but there is no 2v2 or 1v1 I want to play online with friends so I have had to go back to 2k23
