As an American it almost astonishes me how relatively short those trains are compared to American freight trains.
Speed and frequency is higher so its made up for.
In socialist EU maximum train length is set to 800 meters. So they are almost useless. This was made to "save" industry of archaic river barges cargo transportations. In the US single cargo "train" of river barges easely lift up to 10 times more cargo than socialistic one in EU.
