- Sew along with me as I make blocks for a 60" square quilt - Part 6, making Block 5.
Red and green for Christmas, or blues or scrappy leftovers - so many choices! When we have some blocks made we can use a Quilt as you Go method to put them together.
This week we make Block 5.
In Part 4 we looked at quilting the blocks and starting to put them together, already quilted, a form of Quilt as you Go.
There are 2 each of 6 different blocks as well as an alternating block which forms a delicious chain with stars.
The blocks measure 12 1/2" square. The quilt measures 60" square.
The Sew Along will go for 8 weeks.

I'm getting quite an assortment of little half square triangles. Will you be giving us a bonus block or project to use them up?
I’ve completed all the blocks so far. I’m so excited to see how this is going to look. For the block 6, how would the center look if they were the same color and not contrasting? Do you think that would make the block look “heavier” or draw the eye too much? Yours on the top right looks almost like that. I like it though all are pretty.
Hi, You could make it all the same fabric in the centre if you like, sometimes I just like to use more fabrics! I think either would look good.
