St Catherine’s Hill is a nice spot for a walk. The Cafe’ is a great addition.
Also this location is only a short walk into Winchester. 😀

Very natural in delivery, and Dollce! ? Was obviously happy to be out and enjoying the countryside I was out in the countryside and grew to love nature in the 50s its not only relaxing but your mind is much better out there in the wild as apposed to computers and hanging around shopping centres. 5⭐️

good piece. I'm involved in the area.
Handlebar Cafe since before it was built. It's part of a not for profit community project to get people walking and cycling
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust which manages St Catherine's hill for Winchester College
Sustrans which helps manage the path including from cafe to plague pits (and beyond). My 11yo granddaughter helps in this one and manages the bird feeder at the cafe
Itchen Navigation project which just here coincides with the same path (and continues to Southampton).
Would have been nice for the last 2 to have a mention, especially as HCC countryside helps manage Itchen Navigation

Yes, it is a "SSSI", a beautiful ancient landscape with a massive motorway cutting hacked through it instead of a tunnel and on most weekends swarming with people carrying their disposable coffee cups from the convenient cafe after they have strolled along the convenient tarmac path to the bottom of the hill.

Yes it was beautiful once, now there is a huge motorway built by the side of it instead of a tunnel to avoid destroying a site of natural beauty! Not only that the motorway was built straight through the middle of various ancient woodlands and blue bell woods a few miles up the road. The only reason the motorway wasn’t built over the water gardens was because of a few activists strapping themselves to trees in the 90s! So all in all a nice place to go but ruined by light noise and air pollution. Well done to our need to get everything straight away!

Are the paths suitable for small sit on scooter 🛵 as cannot walk far?
