What about the mufflers clogged or something check the muffler
I admire the relationship between Richard and Christina. So genuine and pure. Cherish each other forever. Such a beautiful couple. 😊
Thank you so much Mike. Your support is appreciated.
Great vid guys. Love that Richard doesnt mind having little Lugnut tagging along to learn some things about working on cars.
You two are the dream team . Christina is a gem . I love hearing her chirping up as you work . Great video as always . Love watching you breathing life into these worderful old cars. So sad that someone just gave up on them years ago .
Richard and Christina i hope you both can come back to try again to get the old Buick to run !! And Lug nut is a pretty kid and looks like he's willing to learn !!! And nice job on get the Ford Ranchero running and moving !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😃😃💪💪👍👍👍
Thanks Eric! I will be giving that Buick another try soon!
The Skylark is a stubborn one. I agree, a compression check is in order. I can't wait to see how it turns out. 😎 Excellent work Richard and Christina!! Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work!! 🔧🔧🔧
I'm digging that chained down alternator.😊
The last time you were cranking that Buick over I didn't see any of the rockers on the left bank moving. Not sure what happened but that would explain the lack of compression on that side of the motor.
I thought I seen the something, I wasn't sure, I guess I was right.
I love you guys and your channel
Thanks very much for the support. Comments like this make our day!
It probably had a V6 engine in it with a straight shift and somebody swapped it out for the V8 and the automatic
I've got faith in you, that you can get that Buick running. But it was a Magnificent effort so far! It is amazing that some of these cars run at all, but you guys can sure work miracles on these old forgotten classics! You made my day!!
When is Richard gonna do the camera work while Christina repairs a car alone :D
I've been asking that for over a year😂😂❤❤
Yes we love you guy's! Keep up the good work 😊
My favorite mechanical couple.😊🙏
Always fun to watch.
Never seen so much hillbilly mechanics in my life on the Skylark. Chained alternator, chained motor and converted from standard to automatic but lets leave the clutch pedal in. WOW 👍👍💔
Just tuck the clutch pedal in behind the carpet and floor mat it'll be fine!
You forget to mention the return spring setup
@@codyhusbands1165 Ya there is a lot going on with that old beauty.
@@MattsRageFitGarage Hahaha perfect, let’s add a little more hillbilly mechanics. Love it👍
I have a 69 Special Deluxe, unrestored. It runs like a Queen. Iam a Buick fan and love this video.
My friend had a 68 Special Deluxe in high school. He loved it.
Love this show. Persistence is a virtue
The front rocker was not moving on the valvtrane when you were rolling it over, you may have rounded camshaft😢
Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍. Richard this one is for you 🍺🍺. I have a Olds 64 Cutlass S Convertible I love this car 330 - 4 bbl carb ! This Buick if the frame is not bad that vehicle should be saved, a 4 door stick how cool ! Great video !
Thanks, Mr. B!
You welcome guys ! 👀😎👍
I expect I'm less disappointed than Richard but I think we feel the same way about that Buick, looking forward to seeing you guys get it going
Richard and Christina you both had a awesome channel and love your work on these classic cars and trucks !!! So keep up the great work and lets get you both subscriber numbers up🇺🇸🇺🇸😃😃💪💪👍👍👍👍
Thank You Richard & Christine..... You guy's work so well together. Rich is such a fantastic mechanic I love all your vidio's. Thank You both! Jim from Connecticut ❤️
Great video, Love the Buicks.
I hope you can get the Buick started.
Me too. I think I will with a little more time.
HELLO, LOVE YOU GUYS, GREAT HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM. THERE ARE MANY CAR RESTORATION CAR PROJECTS ON YOU TUBE. I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO WATCH YOUR CHANNEL . ITS THE BEST.THANKS FOR YOUR HARD WORK
Maybe I am wrong, but last attempt to start the Buick, the driver-side front rockers, at least 4 of the them were doing nothing, at least it looked that way to me. All the popping up the carb says valves are stuck somewhere.
Y’all work so great together that’s awesome for a husband and wife team
Thank you Cecil. We like doing these rescues.
This was a rough one. You’re the best. Know you will get it if you want to. Moving the Ranchero after getting going last week was cool. Thank you Christina for your help and Richard for his varsity working on it. Thank you for sharing!
💯👍👊💕
I'd love to see that old Buick with an era correct drive train. The Buick 350 is nice, but really doesn't belong in such a unique machine. You two are always such a joy to watch. Be well and God bless y'all.
Good job guys, thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻
Come on folks, subscribe to this great channel ❤
Thank you for the support!
Great vid , hope you get that Buick sorted, Rancherio runs and drives 👏, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
Thanks, Darren. I am certainly going to try!
Love the Ranchero. I think your power issue is just the car.
Not sure the Buick is worth the trouble. But appreciate your efforts.
I meant the carb.
You might be right about the carb. It is odd though that the car detonates like the timing is way advanced, when it isn't.
Another great video guys. Take care 😊
oh my, if Christine picks a challenge, she picks a CHALLENGE! :)
aside compression issues I have a feeling the ignition point is too early. I could swear seeing the engine being pushed back a bit before the flame shot up the carb. of course a worn-down camshaft makes matters worse.
young master Lugnut is an interesting indivual, awake, interested, askign educated questions... I see a new generation of car experts growing up. :)
Love to watch you guys together….. I am not sure which of you are more blessed! Glad y’all don’t use foul language…. We hear enough of that as it is…
I pray for y’all’s continued safety!!!!
That is not the least expensive Buick in ‘64. We had the least which was very similar to the Skylark. It was a Special Coupe. Ours had the V6 with the aluminum heads AND it had the factory 3 speed manual. No A/C, no radio! It did have a heater. We used to joke that the only option was the passenger visor! Another difference was the decided lack of Chrome or Stainless trim. That panel on the rear that you eyed at the start was not on our Special. We did have one thin trim piece at the belt line.
I loved that car!! We had it until about 1973 I think. By that time it had rusted badly above the rear axle and one of the gas tank straps broke. Also my Dad had taken a backwoods trail and came down off a drop onto a rock right under the driver’s front seat which resulted in a hole which constantly expanded. When the seat mount rusted through we simply ran a 2x4 from the trans hump to the doorsill. Yeah, REAL SAFE!! There was no floor for the rear seat passenger, driver side. The rubber floor covering was held up by some stiff wire and the ebrake cable!! It met its demise because of carb trouble. I had the carb in the basket of my bicycle and was riding over to our favorite Nbhd. garage when several of the smaller parts bounced loose and fell through and into the sewer. As it was to be my car, if I could get it fixed, and I couldn’t afford the new carb and none were to be had in the junkyard, I moved on!! To a ‘63 Cadillac Series 75 Personal Limousine!! A story for another time!!
Right on, I had forgotten that the Special was available in 64. That is a great story of yours. I can relate. My parents had a 64 Olds wagon with see-through floors. We would get wet going through large puddles.
Buick LeSabre, Skylark and Buick special 63-72 are some of my favorite cars especially the 64-66 Buick special cars
I really like quarter rust.
Hello my Rusty Friends
Thanks for watching, BigBill.
Looks like much later engine, nailheads up to 1966 , I was expecting nailhead or v6 , 72 id quess thanks for sharing !
That's right. 68 on up. Thanks for watching, Steve.
Definitely looks like the muscle cars from the front and the back awesome love the tail of them as well Richard sir ..
Thanks Richard and Christina I enjoyed the video I wished we could of hear it run but sometimes that happens you guys gave it a good shot
Great video. It takes lots of patience to try and get these oldies running. Thanks for another great video.
You're welcome. Thank you for the support.
Another success!
Hey, i remembered having a Kraco AM-FM cassette stereo in my 1965 Mustang hardtop!😁👍
So happy to see the CJ5 back in the picture. Been waiting to see y’all back working on something you will perhaps be able to enjoy someday. Looks like it will be a lot of fun!
thank you guy for you hard work ,, the ford that you got running is great,, toronto canada love you guys ,,
Your welcome Fraser. Thank you for the continued support.
Wow, a 2 door galaxie AND a torino too! And that 50 chevy looks like a 2 door! What a great yard! Thanks for the great videos! Hey Rich, do you miss the northeast? No? Lol!!!!
Great video, Richard and Christina! Love your channel! You've mentioned having liking for sixies Buicks; i had a 1:24 scale die cast model of a 65 Riviera GS! Cheers!😁👍🔧🛠️
That's right Billy. I love Buicks and have owned them my entire life.
Nice job cool car Ford (Buick)Nice show 😄👍👍👏👏👏👏
Unreal. Factory Air and a Standard Transmission?. AC and Automatics went together.
Was it converted one way or the other? Looks like a later swap. The 300 was nailhead-ish looking.
Every classic in the bone yard has a story.
Well done!
Right, a crazy combo of options. Perhaps the AC was added on by the dealer?
@@whattherust that AC looks factory. But could have been added by a previous owner from a donor car. Who knows?
@@garyalleccia2793 Right, it will remain a mystery.
❤❤❤keep it up u 2 and keep them comming we all love the entertainment thank u for sharing a piece of your twos life sincerely your bud Tann lawson
Great job on moving the Ranchero, too! Cheers!👍😁🛠️🔧
Great lookin car, good size. don't forget the 455🤠
Great job guys, ❤LoveJim J&R mobile service and God Bless Y'all and your critters
Thanks very much, James. Be blessed.
It look like the valves not seating up, , popping through the intake valves, there was a lot of dirt in the carb, dirt getting down in those valves , preventing them from sealing up, but I had no doubt that working with it , despite what was wrong with it, that you could have got that Buick motor running, you 2 always figured it out.waiting to watch your next challenge.
I need to take another crack at it. It might be the valves, so the next step will be a compression test. Thanks for the support Mark!
@@whattherust I was thinking, if the exhaust is clogged it will also sometimes shot back through the carb.
I thought about clogged exhaust too
Keep the hard work up! You are a great team❤
those rocker arms on that buick 350 came out in aprox 1967 to 1969. the 340 wich was a smaller bore 350 had the same type the linkage and pedal setup are a nice feature. it originally was powered by the little 300 nailhead. another freind in school had a 1966 buick special with a 300 2bbl and he rebuilt the engine and abused it way to much and it took the abuse. his mother had a 1969skylark that my friends brother painted the car blue and it had the 350 2bbl. it ran nice. the family had a bunch of buicks. his father had passed away i think he had made it to 101 years old. the family had 8 kids. those were the days when things ran different and were of course easier to fix. ill bet that 350 that was put in thier probably jumped time. cant wait for the next one keep wrenchin and take care you two.
Thanks for the support! I'll get this Skylark sorted!
the 300 and 340 are not nailhead because the distributor is in the front nailhead are in the back
And that Skylark had factory air!
In 1970, I bought a 66 Buick Special wagon with three on the tree. There must not have been a blanking plate available for the quadrant opening on the dashboard when the car went down the assembly line. The workers used a rough cut piece of black cardboard, taped to the inside of the dashboard, to cover the hole!
Love watching your videos, I've been a car nut since I was 10 years old. I'm now 74, I've had 4 old cars and I'm looking for another maybe. Ps : I can't believe Christina is a grandma.
Thank you for watching! One can never have enough old cars it seems.
great job sometimes you are the windsheild and sometimes you are the bug
I seen my first what the rust video about 2 weeks ago ya'll got me hooked loving it in southeast Tennessee
Thank you! We appreciate you watching 😊
Christina, don t be so hard on yourself. You also picked out the Jeep that you had good luck with. When you get up to bat sometimes you hit a home run, sometimes you struggle to get to first base.
I really like this channel. The content is great and real. Just watch these videos and get an education by an expert. Best wishes.
Rich, hi! Next time you have a go at that buick, pop the distributer cap off and spin the engine over. Could be the distributer spins counter clockwise, like a 350 olds. Learned that the hard way! Luck to you!!!
Too bad the Skylark wouldn't run, but at least the Ranchero did. Good luck in giving the Buick a second try.
Thanks!
Love your videos 😍! I'm a Pontiac girl and I would love it if you find something in the future. I don't care how old or rusty it is 😊
You picked a thought one Christina, but I think Richard will get it running!
Good job guys-too bad about the Buick-but excellent on the Ranchero-Also future litter pick-doggie!-onto the next!!
Good try on it you did all you could on that buick rancho runs decent
Hope you get Buick running, i think it may be a head gasket problem. That ranchero is awesome , and runs great too!
Hey guys, I was waiting to see this update, sadly I suffered a stroke a day ago, but one of the nurses and I watched it ♥
Wow, I am sorry to hear that Bruce. I hope you are recovering.
Look up" if I did Bruce Melton
What's up, guys? It's me lognutfrom the video
That Buick in my opinion would still be a project to test your skills and keep you busy repairing it lol, but I believe the Buick motors are like 215,300,330,350,400 because that is how much torque they have... Its another neat thing i like about Buicks!!!!
Would love to see you guys start the blue car by the Buick y'all were working on .... sending y'all love from Enterprise Alabama God bless y'all always
That blue Galaxie might be in our future. We love Enterprise, AL. Thanks for watching!
@@whattherust your very welcome 🤗
Excellent video Christina :) , Richard :) , I think compression check on motor be good idea too and maybe time chain worn to possibly too! Also nice got Ranchero car up moved own power too !
I like how Christina cheers you on
My dad rode to work with a fella had a brand new 65 maybe 66 Buick skylark GS 400 engine 4 speed bucket seats white top interior the guy put a playboy bunny license plate on the front bumper he quickly became known as Bunny Lol.
It was a convertible to boot.
One of my buddies had an old jeep truck with the 350 Buick engine in it kinda rare to find one this was year's ago he ended up stuck in the mud and somehow messed the engine up in the process.
Y'all need to do the torino too while y'all are there if it has an engine
Definitely. I'll check the next time I am there, but I think the engine is gone.
Regarding the Ranchero... the end of this video is where 3,692 of us viewers go, "We told you so!". Good effort regardless. Hopefully, someone decides they love it enough to buy it and get it back on the road. Best wishes!
- Max Giganteum
Yes, I goofed up on those front brakes. I was sure they were free when I started, but it seems not. Thanks for watching!
Hey guys, what's up?This is a log nut from the video feed and see me in there. What's up, Richard? The video actually came out good
Hi Lugnut! Yes it did. See you soon.
A Buick with a manual wow
Great video Richard and Christina hi lugnut
You’re asking the wrong girl…. Great comment Christina!
Thanks again for the great entertainment love you guys!
let get it
I would think a little oil in each cylinder would boost compression enough to bust that buick off, but I thought it seemed a little out of time too. Cant say without being there with it! Good try on her though, always enjoyable with you guys! Til the next 1!
Thanks Jerry. With a bit more time I'll figure it out.
@whattherust i have no doubt! You genuinely seem to love these old turds, and thats a trait we share.
If that's a 75-77 buick 350 they are slugs. No power, terrible fuel mileage. In the mid 80s I bought a 77 Regal. 0-60 in about 1 minute, 1/4 mile in about 1.5 minutes. Swapped it for a 72 350 2bbl chev 350 and then it ran sweet and left rubber lol. Great video as always. I love Buicks. My fav was a 94 Park Avenue with a 3800.
Right on. Luckily this one does not have EGR, so it is pre-1973.
The old Ford does sound good
That 1yr Ranchero is super cool! Got hit with the ugly stick in '73. Sell it to Lugnut!
Great video! Your faithful ASE Master tech here.
I appreciate it, Mike!
The Buick is a factory a/c car. As fir the manual shifr, a lot of people of that era only drove manual shift cars, and never learned to drive automatics. My Godfather next door, who was a call fireman in our Massachusetts town only drove manuals. Once my father tried to teach him how to drive automatic but he couldn't do it.
That is a cool story, Daniel. I am one of those people that don't like driving an automatic.
If you want to save time trying to guess if you have the timing right, set the #1 to TDC, add on the spark tester to #1 and with the key on rotate the distributor till the tester fires. If it were me, I would remove both rocker assemblies and soak them a while, and in that while do a leak down test on all cylinders with all valves closed. Don't do a compression test, do a leak down. Then after rockers are installed, do the compression test. Flames up the carb is not always timing, it is more likely stuck intake valves.
If a high compression rebuild engine doesn't have a large enough carb, it will starve for air. I have actually seen a 14 1/2 to 1 compression 327 eat the air horn on a Holly 750cfm carb. It was like watching sand in a hour glass (full race cam). Idled at 3,000 and shook every picture off the walls with J&R big tube open headers.
I think most mechanics have memorized 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
My very first car was a 1965 Buick special 4-door sedan that looks very similar to that car.
Bumper looks like it's from an El Camino... later model
Could be! Thanks for the tip!
My knuckles hurt just thinking of that front mounted distributor
Mr. B. Here ! Richard I just spotted the power steering pump, don’t hold to this that looks like the pump that is in my 1970 Olds 442 , GM used the same pump across all the lines that might be a 1970 ish motor , which would haul a#s !
Enjoyed the video, thanks!!🙂
I'm sure you'll get it to run
