Royal expert Richard Kay believes he knows the reason why Charles might have been keen to keep a distance from his younger son. I hope all of these ridiculous claims of olive branches and reconciliation will stop once and for all. It is CLEAR that William wants nothing to do with Harry and who could blame him. Thank you Richard Eden for being one of the very few voices of reason on this.

The folks suggesting William proffer the olive branch have obviously never dealt with someone like Harry. I wonder if some of these same folks...had a sibling who was and always had been, difficult to get along with, was envious, mean and vengeful, who one day decided to write about arguments, slights, personal, private issues or even tell straight up lies about their sibling(s), and posted it on Facebook and all over social media for other family, friends, acquaintances, neighbors, employers, everyone in their circle and beyond to see---again and again and again. Then said they were done talking about it but a week later placed an ad in the newspaper with even *more* malicious crap, making it plain they are insincere and untrustworthy. You telling me those people would be anxious to reconcile, knowing the chances of another (perceived) slight/problem would *again* be blasted all over the place?!! Yeah, *I don't think so.* That's essentially what William's had to deal with, on a global level (except he can't refute, royal principle is to not engage). The only way to deal with such people is to keep your distance, if not cut them off completely. William is protecting his family, how can he be faulted for that?
If Harry one day was truly, truly sorry, apologized and proved over time he had really changed...I think William *might* thaw a little and have a civil relationship with him with very strict boundaries. But they will never be close, that ship has sailed. Harry attacked William, but far worse, attacked his family. He may forgive in time but it will never be forgotten. I think any trust is irrevocably broken. When that's the case you can only have the most superficial of relationships.
People need to back off William. He and his family are the victims here. And don't give me the baloney of Harry's treatment growing up, I have three brothers, they weren't the best of friends to say the least, and it wasn't William's fault he was born the heir, either. I'm also sure William has his own stories to tell---imagine if he gave *his* side of the story to Oprah?! He would never which I'm sure factored into Harry's decision to "tell his truth" in the first place---he knew William and the RF wouldn't respond/defend themselves.

Rebecca saying how Prince William was hoping for a quieter, longer time of life with his family before having to step up more and eventually getting the top job, but it now seems that him stepping up is suddenly happening and he won't get the peace he hoped for, is exactly the same as what happened to Queen Elizabeth II. She thought her and Philip would have a longer, quieter family life in Malta, but her father died way too young. I hope for William that his father will make a full recovery and be able to get back to full royal life.

I'm sure she will care for him like a mother hen,as he would for her. My favourite photo of any Royal is one of Anne and Charles together as small children. Their love for each other is so noticible. He has his hand around her protectively. Both dressed in white.its a really lovely photo. Their love for one another is so evident even as little children. We have had lots of cancer in our family. With modern treatment we are fighting it. A few of us with a 15 year survival rate, and renmember it is less aggressive the older you are. The cells divide slower. Well I am glad Harry is ready to forgive - that means he is not so angry or the emotional wreck he has been. However, his family have done nothing wrong which requires forgiven. However, his family will not be forgiving him and that awful wife and time soon for being vicious and spiteful and, more importantly, lying.
How generous of him, having hounded his brother's wife into hospital and his father to a serious illness, that he is now ready to forgive them. I hope they are suitably grateful.

I think William somewhat started it by "pulling rank" on his younger brother, which was a bit snooty and tactless. I also think it's cruel to label any child as a "spare." I can't say what I would have done in a similar circumstance but I do understand Harry's rebellion. Life was also no fun for Harry's great-aunt, Princess Margaret.
It IS NOT up to William to mend the fences. Sometimes no apology will heal anything if it's serious enough, which I feel this all has been.

I don't think its quite as bad as it used to be,but still very unpleasant. The cancer cells divide much slower in an older person so King Charles has that going for him, not that I consider him old. 75 is going in this day and age 100 year olds everywhere. I wish a very very successful outcome to King Charles and years if good health ahead
