Glad your skin is in a better place. I can relate to your story, sort of lol. I have clear skin BUT I used my Retin A on my top lip and that was a no no! I had hyper-pigmentation that looked like a half mustache (YOU KNOW THE TYPE lol!) I normally wear no foundation, just a little concealer under my eyes. But because of the discolouration, i had to wear foundation on my top lip. I was so horrified, sad and mad at myself. I tried to get rid of the discoloration on my own but to no avail. Possibly because of the depth of your skin/melanin/ Fitzpatrick lvl, it's a very tricky situation on whether or not you would scar or hyper pigment. Anyone in your skin shade should take caution before having this type of treatment done. Because of the nature of the treatment, it causes damage to induce collagen. Through that process it may stimulate the melanocytes too much. It's definitely different for everybody, but more likely with skin of color. I'm so glad that you were able to remedy the situation!!
I also had a bit of hyperpigmentation after microneedling. I went somewhere else and got it done because I was being impatient. My home esthetician recommends only doing it in fall /winter and using a cream with kojic acid , tretinoin, hydrocortisone , and hydroquinone in it every night for at least 6-8 wks prior to turn off the melanocytes. PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) is a natural response to the procedure for skin types 3 and up so you want the skin to turn off those pigment producers so you dont have that reaction.

I'm a holistic facials practitioner and what happens when you have micro-needling the skin is being punctured and the healing process ( which is the desired outcome ) will encourage melanin to rush in to help make the skin stronger .. What happens is if you have keloid skin this can cause scarring. And in your case make the skin look dark and cause an array of issues. I do not use miro needling on dark skin at all. You are blessed with melanin, my dear ..
Your skin looks amazing. I also use the PCA pigment bar and it’s amazing. I would recommend the Revision papaya and brightening wash. I also use the Revision c+ correcting. I’m working on my dark spots and these products along with salicylic peels has helped me a lot.
I’m so happy you found a solution. I’m sorry you had to go through that! For your morning routine, I would apply your moisturizer before the spf. So that all of the beneficial ingredients will have the chance to penetrate into your skin.
Omg this is currently me. Im trying to figure it out if it will fade... I called them and they said they would call me back but never did. I don't like how they aren't taking actions to answer my quesions. I went to Manhattan Medspa.
hi it happened to me just now. i got micro needling last week and now skin is all dark. the untreated area is lighter than treated area, i called them and they said they will return my call. what did you do? we’re you able to fix your skin? please let me know.
@pinkyparo hi, yes of course! I believe I ended up leaving a review and they reached out to me because of course they didn't want a bad review and offered me a complimentary visit, but when I did, the lady who "burned" my face, wasn't there. Instead a person I'm a higher position gave me a hydrafacial and told me to wear sunscreen (also to mention, there was a hair strand attached to her gloves that kept tickling my face, very unsanitary and her gloves smelled off). I went on vacation the next week so I had to wear a hat and sunscreen. It did fade over time but it took a couple of months. I just used sunscreen religiously
Thank you for this video and cautionary tale! I had a very similar experience getting microneedling done at a medspa in Houston. Only difference is that I’d worked with the esthetician that did the procedure several times before for hydrafacials. I think the treatment was too aggressive and I ended up with hyperpigmentation spots all over, as well as some hypopigmentation. I used the IPL Dark Spot serum from Dr. Dennis Gross after reading up about kojic acid and my skin is pretty much back to normal though it took a couple of months to normalize. You and I are in the same Fitzpatrick category and I have a friend also in the same category that goes to the same medspa and esthetician. My friend doesn’t have any issues with microdneedling. Learned my lesson with doing too much to my skin when it’s already in a good place.
I'm so pleased you shared this. I had my first one down and on day 3 I felt like I had discoloration - white patches coming through! Its taken 9 days for it to settle down but I'm still monitoring it - I may have to go back to the clinic.
OMG, I’m still trying to reverse the reaction of my Morpheus8 treatment that left the interior of my face extremely hyperpigmented. I literally looked like a burn victim!
I was just looking up Morpheus 8 treatment debating if I should do it or not. I have adult acne and still trying to work on getting a good anti aging regimen and thought the Morpheus 8 may be an option.
@@adrianarubio5253 it could be, the device settings were definitely too deep and too hot for my face. If you get it done maybe start off very lightly. The results are definitely contingent on the technician
@@DaringDanielletravels I will never get micro needling again. This has definitely taught me to appreciate what God has blessed me with. I was prescribed hydroquinone 4% and seeing some good results in just one week. I will also do a chemical peel once I’m off of the cream which I know will help since i had chemical peels in the past which definitely helped improved my hyperpigmentation. I was just looking for something to shrink my pores but never again. Thank you and God bless 🙏🏾
One of the more "recent" known side effects of microneedling is a risk of melasma for those with more melanin. Cases like yours are being studied and I think that all clinics should tell people the possible risks before patients agree to do it
Oh dear , Thanks because I was going to do it , I have deep melasma for years … What do you suggest if you know anything? , hydroquinone helps me a lot but I can’t use for long
I'm so glad your skin has improved, it looks really good. I subscribed around the time you got the micro needling and was curious about the results, because I'm trying to improve my skin care routine this year. PCA, Dermalogica, and Farmacy products have really been transforming my skin. I might have to look more into the Teami Blends Vit-C cause I ran out of the mine recently.
@@KyraKnox I use Farmacy's Honey Potion Hydrating Mask, Honey Glow Night Serum, and Honey Drop LW Moisturizer. With Dermalogica I just have the special cleanser. The products are a little expensive but they work so good on my sensitive skin. I actually purchased a gift set deal from Farmacy recently, cause it made sense price wise then to buy individually. Here's the link if you want to check it out www.farmacybeauty.com/collections/gift-sets. (It's the Luxe Honey Kit) Honestly. I have been getting a lot of tips from LaBeautyologist (CZcams/IG) and they have really brought the skin on my face alive. The 60 second Rule alone does wonders. All the products I use came from her recommendations. I have acne prone and super dry skin so they work well for me, but of course eveyone's results are different. Hope this helps! Girl I'm figuring it out as I go, lol.
Blessedbythebest 1 Hey, the only product I have used so far is the PCA Clearskin which I love, because after putting on a mask and exfoliate on my face it calms it down from feeling irritated. I switch up between that and Farmacy Honey Drop Moisturizer. I’m trying to use up the products I have before I get more cause I have product junkie tendencies😬😊
Have the patches healed? I’ve been thinking of getting microneedling done by a professional for my indented acne scars, but now I’m scared of the risk of hyperpigmentation all over my face if I get it done.
I suffer from some hyperpigmentation but my biggest concern is the small icepick acne scars left from my early twenties that are more prominent now that I'm older. I recently did the Precision plus Vi peel in Atlanta and she recommended Microneedling.
Same for me. I go to Super dermatology in Conyers, GA. I did the VI precision plus peel and she recommended I get micro needling next then another peel a month after!
I'm so glad I found your video. I had the EXACT SAME reaction after microneedling for the first time back in November. I had to take the entire week off work because I could not go out in public. My face was red and swollen and looked like I had been in a boxing match, after a couple of weeks I had the dark "mask" in the treated areas. I was SO devastated! I did my research, went to a licensed dermatologist, spent way more money than the procedure normally costs and ended up looking 100 times worse. Now that it has been about 3 months my skin is looking much better. My derm gave me a prescription for 12% hydroquinone with kojic acid and I only wash with gentle cleansers; Cetaphil or Cerave. I moisturize with Vaseline at night (I was nervous about it clogging my pores but my derm talked me into using it) and a vitamin C moisturizer, serum and sunscreen for day. In a couple of weeks I will start a regimen of chemical peels and look forward to having flawless skin after that. I appreciate you sharing your experience!
AHood 29 omg! I’m so sooo sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience! I pray those new products and the peels help to reverse all of the damage 🤦🏽♀️
I'm going through this now. Same situation. Went to a board certified black derm. He suggested laser, I didn't want to do it but he said If I came to him I should trust his recommendations as he was an expert, even when I voiced my concern about it ruining my skin. Well, it ruined my whole face 10,000 fold. I now have large black burn marks across my entire face from the laser. So seeing a doctor too doesn't guarantee anything either
I just began watching your video. I also have skin of color too and i also have areas of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. After cleansing my skin, I don't use any product till after I'm done microneedling. I apply alittle emu oil to soothe the area. And I'm very careful not to do my entire face only the spots that I need cleared up. I believe the new Spa you went to probably used a product on your skin that was pushed deeper into your skin during the procedure and inflammation occurred. I recently learned from watching Dr Vanitta Rattan..who specializes on skin of color on youtube. And my skin is improving by using products she recommends like Cetraban moisturizer and .025% tretinoin. My skin is improving, and she also shares how to use microneedling safely to avoid hyperpigmentation along with nafe safe products to use afterwards to prevent hyperpigmentation.
I just undergo a Microneedling procedure 3 days ago So far I have experienced hyperpigmentation I noticed my pores became more enlarged and I'm experiencing breakouts. Unsure if it's because my menstrual cycle approaching. Also, my skin itches significantly. I'm waiting until a week from now to see how my skin reacts..
I had my first microneedliing session and the redness had reduced significantly but I'm left with obviously white areas around my mouth that were not treated and my cheeks which are now darker/red.
The VI peel caused me some hyperpigmentation I had to use hydroquinone to get rid of the darker spots. But besides that it did help with the other areas of my face. I recently had micro needling done with RF so far i Ike it I really had no downtime. She did start off with lower settings though since I was scared lol
Totally could have been that, but I also wonder if it was the hyaluronic acid that they had you use. It seemed like your face puffed up more when they applied it. HA is something to caution use on when using abrasive things. But YOUR SKIN LOOKS AMAZING. I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE HAPPY!
I was hoping that you would have an update on your treatment. Gosh, I felt so bad for you because I'm so obsessed with skin care. The doctor took the right aproach. Looking forward to your skincare routine
I’m just seeing this vid in 2021. So where did you purchase the Bty Counter and PCA pigment bar??? I’ve done micro needling and chemical peel and dark spots are still visible. Your face looks amazing!!!!
I just got my first microneedling treatment today. I hope it turns out well cause my face is a bit swollen and red as expected. I'm glad you got sorted and you're looking great!
Ive got the Ordinary Skin Peel. Here's how I use it, to get best results. I use a dermaroller/microneedle and repeatedly roll the dermaroller across my entire face, especially over my cheeks, chin & forehead (sometimes repeatedly over these areas). Next stage, I drip the Ordinary Skin Peel all over my entire face, especially over the areas I just dermarolled/microneedled, then *rub it in* so that the solution will soak in better & deeper into the skin and so the Solution will work x10 better and be more effective, (it will initially sting at first, and for some it will sting for a while after you applied, but this happens to every first time user, it's nothing to worry about!! and means it will penetrate and focus on areas and skin in need of work) just try to ignore the sting and pain remember what they say *beauty is pain* , ALSO DONT FORGET to rub some over your neck/area. Next Stage - I usually do this routine on the night-time, so the ingrediants can do their "magic" overnight over my entire face while I'm sleeping away/during the night. *I do this skincare routine every night without fail!* I put in my earphones and listen to relaxing music, sounds or even listen to podcasts till I eventually fall asleep, your skin will be impeccable when you wake up next morning, wash it off, after 10 mins after washing off the next morning your skin will transform into smooth light skin, so you can go into work/college, university or school with 10/10 skin, heads will *TURN!* FOR EXTRA points to get smooooooth skin, flawelss, after washing Yor face the next morning, I then rub The Ordinary Glycolic Acid solution onto my entire face and you an leave it on all day as it soaks into your skin soothing it after. Your skin won't be perfect straight away, but will be 90% a improvement and guarantee 6 days later, your skin will be smoother than a slide, no lumps or bumps, and your overall skin-tone will be flawless and seamless as one, all over your face. Enjoy, and can't wait for you to try this routine, and reply back to me/with your results, *GLOW INSIDE AND OUTSIDE* sister!!✊🏽 xxx 💞💕💞💕

Did you even apply sunscreen two weeks after the micro needling session?
Congratulations on 100k Kyra 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Sav Lynch thank you ☺️
Happy to see your skin is much better Kyra oh yesss glowing 😍😊👏🏾👏🏾.
Isabella Nzama yesss...we back sis😂😂
Oh yess sis we back for good 😄😊😘
Thank you for this video and cautionary tale!
I normally get chemical peels but skin can react different ways to products. I also us Obagi products and you can get Glytone from the Dermstore.
Omg this is happening to me right now! I thought it was going to go away!! My skin is so hyperpigmented after the treatment.
Same 😢
Me too I got some dark spot I did not have before 😞 I talked to them and they will wait till the next sessions
Did your dark spot go away on its own?
If you’re ever in the Houston area, go see Leslie The Esthe! She’s amazing!!
Glad to see that your skin is better, sorry that you had to go through all of that.
Make sure you get tested ,just to make sure you are not infected with anything
Oh wow, have you seen any improvement since your post? I pray all is much better 🙏🏾
It’s improved slightly but I’ve not tried any other treatments to try and improve my skin
The way she is holding that cup really made me crave whatever it is she is drinking lol
Your skin looks amazing and congrats on reaching 100k!!
One of the more "recent" known side effects of microneedling is a risk of melasma for those with more melanin. Cases like yours are being studied and I think that all clinics should tell people the possible risks before patients agree to do it
Oh dear , Thanks because I was going to do it , I have deep melasma for years …
What do you suggest if you know anything? , hydroquinone helps me a lot but I can’t use for long
I was suppose to have this procedure tomorrow but maybe not. I’m scared now....
Did you do it?
Okay I didn't finish the video after browsing the comments section. This is a no go for me.i will not do it
Okayyy sis, were at 100k!!! Go Kyra, loving the content
I'm going to start on 0.25, thanks for sharing your experience!
Keturah Barnett thank you so much! I’ve actually been considering trying Farmacy & Dermalogica...what products do you use from them?
What do you use from PCA? I love them, they got my skin back on track, I've forever be a customer of theirs
You’re skin looks beautiful Im so happy ❤️❤️
OMG, the same thing happened to me, I had pigmentation left post dermapen treatment. There are random patches all over my face :(
Have the patches healed? I’ve been thinking of getting microneedling done by a professional for my indented acne scars, but now I’m scared of the risk of hyperpigmentation all over my face if I get it done.
I suffer from some hyperpigmentation but my biggest concern is the small icepick acne scars left from my early twenties that are more prominent now that I'm older. I recently did the Precision plus Vi peel in Atlanta and she recommended Microneedling.
Same for me. I go to Super dermatology in Conyers, GA. I did the VI precision plus peel and she recommended I get micro needling next then another peel a month after!
@The Glam Cook any updates? I literally just did a mesotherapy session which combines needling with serums.
Your skin looks beautiful and healhy. Good to hear that you got a refund. Glad your skin care rountine is working for you. Thanks for sharing.
Kyra I was 🙏🏻 for you. I didn't"t want to say anything and risk hurting your feelings. GLAD TO SEE YOU ARE HEALING EMOTIONALLY And PHYSICALLY.
@deekay9486 hey did you fix your skin? if yes then how? i am also going through same problem. my skin is darker after micro needling. thanks
@@pinkyparo nope. No fix
I just undergo a Microneedling procedure 3 days ago
So far I have experienced hyperpigmentation I noticed my pores became more enlarged and I'm experiencing breakouts. Unsure if it's because my menstrual cycle approaching. Also, my skin itches significantly. I'm waiting until a week from now to see how my skin reacts..
How is your skin now if you don’t mind me asking? I have a microneedling/PRP treatment on Tues.
Your doing does look better, thank you for sharing and your hair does look beautiful 💞
Hi! Could you just told me what was the millimeter used ? I just want to make sure when microneedling will be done on my face
Agreed!
Nadia Dear thank you!!
I’m just seeing this vid in 2021. So where did you purchase the Bty Counter and PCA pigment bar??? I’ve done micro needling and chemical peel and dark spots are still visible. Your face looks amazing!!!!
Love your video! Can you please tell us where you got your coffee mug from? ☺️💜
I just got my first microneedling treatment today. I hope it turns out well cause my face is a bit swollen and red as expected. I'm glad you got sorted and you're looking great!
How did it go
Ive got the Ordinary Skin Peel.
*I do this skincare routine every night without fail!*
I put in my earphones and listen to relaxing music, sounds or even listen to podcasts till I eventually fall asleep, your skin will be impeccable when you wake up next morning, wash it off, after 10 mins after washing off the next morning your skin will transform into smooth light skin, so you can go into work/college, university or school with 10/10 skin, heads will *TURN!*
FOR EXTRA points to get smooooooth skin, flawelss, after washing Yor face the next morning, I then rub The Ordinary Glycolic Acid solution onto my entire face and you an leave it on all day as it soaks into your skin soothing it after.
Omg yes girl I would also die! I had horrible skin growing up too and just got it to where I like it about a year ago... I TOTALLY identify well with your words here LOL I would die
How did you repair your skin? I am currently going through the same thing
8:14 is when she got to the point of what she got done
Hi Kyra, did you get any tram marks/micro needle scars? I had aggressive dermapen treatment at session 3, I was left with hyperpigmentation, really sensitive skin and now nearly a year later I have tram marks and micro needle scars all over my face. Wanted to know if you had the same?
Has your face improved? Just had microneedling done 2 days ago and this sounds like how mine is healing and I’m worried about hyperpigmentation 😩😩
@@sasharainwater9925are you okay now 😮
fuck. i am. watching this because my skin reacted in same way, not that severe but got pigmentation. and i am very much worried now😣😣😣
@Tour Darshan, did it go away?
Hi,
What did you use for hyperpigmentation; I did a 1st session of Morpheus8 due to numbing cream made my face darker and hyperpigmentation. Looks ugly .
What cream can I use for hyperpigmentation?? Can you please suggest me ?
Congratulations on 100K 👏🏽👏🏽🎊🎈🎉🎈🎊🥳🥳🤩
I heard before that micro needling in dark skin can cause hyperpigmentation and also if you have dark spots it can be pushed into the deeper layers but I’m going to search more into that thank you for your video I’m glad you fixed your skin you look beautiful
Your skin is still amazing!!!!
IMTiffani WithanI thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing and HAPPY 100K FOLLOWERS!!!!!!
Kyra, with the Perfect Derma Peel, how long is the down time and how many treatment's did you have to get?
Kyra where in Atlanta is a great place to go for a chemical peel?
at what mm depth they used the pen at?
Congratulations to 100k Kyra✌🏼🎉🎊🎈💖
Isabella Nzama thank you so much!
Your welcome Kyra😊😍
Kyra you are so beautiful. Glad your skin is better!
Made it to 100K before March!! Congratulations again!!! 🥳🥳
... Glad you got that taken care of and you were able to get treatment for "correction". You're still gorgeous... 🖤❤ My question is(not that you asked for questions), but... (maybe I missed it, idk).... did you request your records from the first treatment in Austin to see what was done differently this time? I feel like you know your skin pretty well to be confident in your beliefs of her using too aggressive of a treatment. Just for your peace of mind.. Just asking 🤷🏿♀️ back in my hut I go! Lol
i went thru the exact same thing! a lot of these esthetician’s aren’t skilled with treating black skin smh it sucks that we don’t have a lot of options but to go to them
This is happening to me right now 🥺 what worked for you?
@@Shamrocknails89 all u can do is moisturize and use sunscreen like ur life depended on it because if u don’t not only will th dark spots worsen but the texture will also
@@Shamrocknails89 i still believe this treatment can be beneficial to us when done by a knowledgeable esthetician. just because they are licensed means nothing my sister went to school and knows nothing because they don’t teach much at all abt our skin
So true! I recently had the same reaction but they did give me cream which I’m seeing great improvement then I will get a chemical peel.
Yayyyy video!!!!! Congratulationssss again on 100k!!!!
IMTiffani WithanI thank you so much🥰
The cleanser is simply AFRICAN BLACK SOAP that went to boarding school
Yes ma’am.
I am glad I came across your video. I wonder what went wrong.
Hi! How long after did you go to them for a refund and to rectify the skin? I’m one week in and I have the same exact hyperpigmentation that you have. 😢
Hi Kyra, do you think any of the products would help with under eye dark circles?
Congrats on 100K Kyra!!!👍🏽
I'm so scared this happening to me right now but on my stomach
And the needle depth was? Like the most important part of the video...
Love your hair... Can you do a tutorial?
Yas progression!!!
Happy 100K!!
How soon after your chemical peel healed, did u start the routine to get you skin back to normal....Im dealing with the same thing now :(
Hello is it better now ?
What needle lenght did the clinic use ?
