    Thank you. I've been trying to find some type of visual guide for the drivers side door for so long. I appreciate you making this video so very much.

    Thanks for that, man. After almost a year with the pathfinder, and replacing the handles four (five?) times I finally found some good metal ones (Evan Fischer, about $28/pair Amazon). I put the driver's side on and adjusted it only to find that when I lifted on the handle it wouldn't move at all. The internal lever drops when I open from the inside (don't get me started on how often you have to bend those things back once the plastic retainer clip halfway down goes), but it won't budge from the outer handle. Now I think i can figure out what's up based on your video. Thanks for pulling all that stuff out so we won't have to! Now I just have to figure out how to disengage the child lock on the back passenger door when the outer handle isn't attached. Gotta love kids.

    If you go to the parts store and buy 'dorman's lock assortment' the black one in there, which I think is for chevy, worked perfectly on my 97 hardbody; it's $4. The part doesn't look at all the same but it slips into the hole and the rod and works perfectly. I'm not going to repeat what I wrote about fixing this. You can find a write up if you search on other videos for such door locks. The passenger side broke after about 22 years. Hopefully I'll be dead and gone by the time the drive side breaks.

    The door locks on my WD21 (1994) Nissan Pathfinder are no longer working. It's suspected that it's the "Door Lock Timer".
    This topic is covered on numerous internet forums, however the posts are years old, and the images are broken.
    I came to this video for help, and the one thing that you didn't touch on, is the "Door Lock Timer". I am trying to find out where it is, and what it looks like. I may need to go to a junk yard and try to find one.

    Thanks! Managed to fix my door, because it made me understand what I was doing. First I had replaced the plastic part on the handle that goes into the unlocker, but it (screw and washer) was to big and thus kept the door unlocked, so it didn´t unlock anymore with the autolock. After banging on the locked door I could open it again and found a replacement that was a bit smaller (standard nut, combined with last part of the plastic that I sawed into :p).

    Nope. Never seen that site. Thanks for the link. I'm sure it will come in handy if they sell stuff like that.

    It's really a good video to understand this mechanism and I found it at right time. But I just want to suggest please avoid using " I don't know what it is, I don't care, I don't need it that now, whatever it is " . It gives a little bit bad impression of lack of knowledge. You can use " we can talk about it lateral" instead of those sentences.

  • @AMetalWorks
    @AMetalWorks  Před 11 lety

    That's normal. I'm not sure what they are for but I have some too. Both Pathfinders I have are like that. I'm assuming those were for accessories that maybe our trucks don't have. However I'm not sure what lol.

    The plastic piece contains a magnet, it passes by a sensor so when you turn the key twice it unlocks all doors.
    Also, fist gen includes 2 door and 4 door; 87-95

    I have a 1991 Nissan Terrano which was a fully imported vehicle back in the day, my question is, do you know if the pathfinder and Terrano have the same central locking? Thank you for the video, I appreciate it. My door knobs want to work but just won't go either way. Cheers from Australia.

    I'm gonna blow up your feed a little bit, lol. I was digging around under the hood on my 92 pathy a little bit and I realized that to the left of the battery, where the fuel pump and headlight fuses are mounted onto the body, there's a few fuses (if they are even fuses) mounted to the body just in front of that box, and none of them are labelled. but my issue is that theres a fuse missing, its a four prong cable laying free, but i have no idea what it is. any idea?

    The passenger door latch on my 98 Pathfinder is stuck closed and the door is open so it will not latch to close. Every video I see shows just holding the door handle and moving the latch back down but mine will not move back into open position so I can close door. Suggestions please !!

    • @AMetalWorks
      @AMetalWorks  Před 7 lety +1

      It's more than likely all rusted and nasty inside of it. Start soaking it in PB Blaster and trying to work it back and forth. In reality you should try and get a new/used latch that is in better shape.

    • @user-vf1ob8gi2c
      @user-vf1ob8gi2c Před 7 lety +1

      Thank you for the prompt reply. I appreciate it. I have the latch assembly out now & a replacement (used) I'll be picking up in the am. I initially tried your suggestion to free it up but a plastic piece inside is broken. Thank you again.

    That was dumb video. He said in the beginning that he will show the mechanism Not how to fix remove or put things in. But that is all he did with a super shaking camera with too close up only he knows what he was doing. But he didn't show the mechanism and that's all I wanted to see.
