- Budget smart home lights can transform your house on the cheap, and here's how to setup Google Home, Alexa and Apple Homekit compatible bulbs from Yeelight. I've reviewed a lot of smart bulb tech and Xiaomi's ecosystem smart lighting are among the best. These budget friendly lighting solutions are affordable compared with Philips Hue, LifX and other options, yet I found the Yeelight bulbs easy to setup and just as feature-packed. No bridge is required and these Xiaomi lights are compatible with Google Home, Apple Homekit, Alexa and other home assistants.
Yeelight offers a huge selection of smart home lighting solutions, and these new bulbs will be available via Amazon from Jan 25 here in the UK. Check out this link for a giveaway:

We start with the ceiling bulb, MultiColor M2, which is super-bright and offers a rainbow of different hues. At $20 a pop, these are the most budget-friendly smart lights I've ever setup and reviewed. So far I'm very happy - the Yeelight bulb looks and feels good quality, responds as expected on Google Home, and has all the standard featured including scheduling, presets and so on.
The LED light strip is also a winner, offering up to 10m in length if you join them together. You've got physical controls as well as the usual app support, and voice commands via Google, Apple and Alexa.
Check out my reviews of other Xiaomi gear including their latest phones, smartwatches and other gear. - Věda a technologie
Xiaomi's range of products is actually pretty astounding, from smartphones to lights to umbrellas to basically any household item that you could ever think of, they basically have you covered
It's absolutely insane, I never realised until they came to the UK just how much stuff they do. Their booth at tech expos is like a toy factory, last time they even had go karts....
Had a Stroke, so use Smart Bulb in my Bedroom. On/Off/Timer, using my Phone. Great help & addition.
Hope you recover as much as possible! 🤞
I have 5 yeelight 1s in my room, absolutely love them. I created scenes in the height app, then use alexa to control them. Also made my own "scenes" via routines directly in alexa app.
Instead of "alexa, turn on bright light" I created a routine that when I say "bright light" it turns on the scene called "bright light" in yeelight. Saves having to say "turn on"... Lazy I know. But I love it.
This fiddling with routines and scenes is quite handy. Especially as there is no colour wheel in the alexa app, so making your own "scene" via routine is possible, but somewhat limited. I prefer to build the scene in yeelight app, where you have an in depth colour palette.
I was looking at smart lights reviews yesterday!! You read my mind (or collected my data)
I have no idea what you mean (*burns several hard drives and flees the scene*)
hi, just wanted to say that you are my favorite electronics reviewer, i really like and enjoy your work man :D
I have been using yeelight for many years allways great products for good price + new yelight bulbs and ledstrip even supports razer synapse, so good to have with RGB PC build
I have a house full of Yee lights like all things Xiaomi they are brilliant, I am particularly pleased with the desk lamp. I use one of their plain white bulbs in my outside light and it's been trouble free
Hi Chris, I hear the UK has a worse variant of COVID... stay safe mate from me and all my mates.
From Australia.
Love the yeelights, I have them in every room + lamps, I mainly use the Xiaomi MiHome app but have everything connected through Google home as well and then the yeeloght app as a backup for finiky timer settings etc. No hub, no delays just set up and go, love xioami gear
Got to say I've been impressed, I've tried some brands like Meross in the past and been disappointed, but these are working a charm
Great video as usual! But I'm pretty sure you can stick those 2 pin plugs in the 3 pin sockets just make sure they aren't loose :).
Thank you for this really nice video!! The Staria Bedside Lamp is so cool with the integrated wireless charging pad for the phone and can be used as a light alarm clock as well - you can set it to slowly get brighter in the morning and this way wake you up softly at a fixed time! The lightstrip 1S is also compatible with Chroma Razer - for all the gamers out there ;) We will share the video with our users!
Love you reviewing something other than phones and such, especially this type of stuff 👍 Not that I don't like the phones and such, calm down 😂
Great information. Cheers
Has anyone ever told you that you look exactly like James Murray from Impractical Jokers? Because that was my initial thoughts when I saw your video's thumbnail. Aside from that, really appreciate your review! In the market looking for smart lights for my new home :)
Thanks for the review. What is the name of the bulb holder you are using? Thanks
I've used yeelight products for a. Couple of years and they are just brilliant. Wouldn't buy anything else. There is a new feature in the yeelight app where you can set your lights to flow to music. A perfect way to have a home disco. Love them. Great video as always
What about for gaming, can you download it onto your pc for mood lighting?
Xiaomi's Desk Lamp 1S is also one of the best-looking smart desk lamps that also responds to Siri or Google Assistant
You don't need an adapter to use Euro 2-pin plugs in UK sockets. All you need to do is stick something in the Earth pin's hole in the socket and that releases the guard on the live and neutral on the socket. The Euro plug can then be pushed in as the gap between the pins is the same!! Being a Brit that has lived in Europe for over 20 years, I have done this so many times when back visiting Blighty.
Ah yes, I forgot all about that little trick. I've got so many adapters lying around I usually just grab one of them!
Whenener the week's over, I say: "Hey Siri, let's party!", that activates the light flow mode. I then walk 20 paces to get my favorite alcohol from kitchen then back to my homeoffice/homeclub
How do you sync it with video though which is a huge feature? So that the LED strips mimic the colours of what your watching, adding mood like the Philips HUE does.
Nice, this is awesome
Wonderful info.
How did attach the light strip at the back of the tv? More specifically the corners? Did you cut or bend?
Xiaomi always suprise us
Do you have to set up internet bridge ie putting in wifi details with the bulbs?
Just checked. All available on Amazon.
$36 for a 1 metre LED strip? You think that's cheap?😱 Well it probably is for you but isn't for us normal people.
Compared to the competition it is
It's 2 metres Light strip buddy!
hi there! for the yeelight 1s, currently it is in its 4th iteration (V4s) In previous generations, many users complain about how the colours have too much white and in some cases colours such as turqoise/light blue just straight up appear white. Just a quick google search of 'yeelight strip turqoise' shows a few posts on yeelights official forums of users complaining about this. Wondering if you are having this issue with your 2021 Yeelight 1s strip. Love the content!
Greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾. Thanks for sharing.
hi, can i use the bulbs via a bridge? hue or aqara? i dont want to add all the lights at home directly to wifi as im afraid it will slow down the router
and - can you skip the control panel and connect it directly to the adapter? i assume not - as it is the part which makes the smart magic...
Does anyone know what the lights on the desk are please? The 18 inch tall orange ones.. I really want them
3:04 Wouldn't trust that adapter for a bit but I see you're a brave man.
What about a physical switch, controlling the light not just from your phone?
Xiaomi is awesome 🔥
Where did you get the lightstrip with the UK plug
I need a 12 meter one how can I connect?
Please help
When did you record this video? As far as I'm aware Xiaomi have been blocked from Google home
Can i control it from Google home app even if i don't have Google home device?
xiaomi tryna dominate the market
Is that original prototype of the UK adapter?! Good grief dude, Time Team has excavated stuff with less shit on it! 😏
A Geordie?! Bloody hope so. My wife is all android ira her birthday soon and i got no idea how that the android eco works. I need you
Time to light up mate 🌝
What's that light behind you?
Yeehaw cheap smart bulbs 🤠
Staring at the bulb after a couple of pints of best and a whiskey lol
It's the next best thing to sunbathing by a pool, right?
@@TechSpurt mmm the cheap Chinese tanning... Just like being in downtown Wuhan
i have that bulb, the problem it is always disconnecting from the app and then I can't control it :(
$36 for a 1 metre LED strip? NOT cheap at all!😱
It is compared to other smart home lights
@@DerMBen Not sure if Chris mentioned it correctly, as I know, Yeelight Strip 1S comes in 2 metres and extension is 1 metre.
@@zckom I just checked, and it's actually not that cheap compared to other strips without ZigBee, and even some with ZigBee. It's only really cheaper or similar in price (taking the length into account) than ZigBee strips from Innr, Philips and Osram.
YEET light 😂😂
They really should change the name!
@Tech Spurt is Aliexpress safe to purchase from?thanks.
Yes
review the new nokia feature phones
Can you, cause you already reviewed the Mi10 t pro and Mi 10t lite but you haven't reviewed the standard Mi 10t
Yep, I've been badgering Xiaomi for a sample, hopefully soon! They're launching some more kit imminently though, so stay tuned...
Do the Galaxy M31 review that's something I've been waiting for
Good
Do you have link for this product?
Yep, check here for global links: www.yeelight.com/pages/distribution-channel.html
What happens to all the tech once you have finished with the review? Just thought you must be piling up alot of stuff
3:04 mate that adapter looks well dodge, get a new one!!
Which Phone are you using ?
At the moment I'm full time on the S20 Ultra as I never actually reviewed it back in the day...thought I'd finally get around to it just before they launch the S21 Ultra!
Give this light a unique name:
"Light".
I want an E27 smart bulb but 1000 lumens is way too little!
I've found this one's great for my small studio (about 3m by 6m), but aye anything larger wouldn't get the full benefit
@@TechSpurt interesting. my room is smaller than your studio and im using 2500 lumens. and I don't even feel like its too bright.
@@TechSpurt That's bigger than all but one room in my home.
More home automation shizzle please
Hoping to get lots of smart home goodies on the go this year, if the endless smartphone flood eventually subsides!
@@TechSpurt Time to expand in to the Tech Spurt Expanded Universe
Why not get a TP-Link smart bulb from ASDA for around £18 - full Alexa and Google support and multicolour
Even better for 8 bucks broadlink rgb bulb
wow
3:48
Why not Lampard?
Not a bad shout! Although I'm not a fan of the dude/club
There's an m51 it has a 7000mah battery😀
yeetlight
Govee light strip is cheaper n better
"Baton"? I think you meant bayonet 😂
i feel i should be using a paraffin lamp and live a 1888 lifestyle. we are already being monitored. now THEY will know what time someone switched on their lights. lookout for mic. or cameras. lololol
F*uck yes mate. Cheers
I thought it was murr lol
...Yee Yee ass lights..
iphone: 10cm lead for $1999
Yeelights have an issue with night light mode, turning to red color only. That's an ugly bug, which wasn't resolved by Xiaomi. Beware.
Fifth🤣💪
