Love seeing more of your family. Whatâs amazing but totally not surprising is that every member of your family is equally awesome as yourself.
Mrcaffinebean Aww, thank you.đ€
@@ChandraSlyFoxPatey Will you have build videos of your new carbon cub? P.S. Make sure Mike does an update when Dex has the wave runner going! It's great to see the family working on projects, but I'm still waiting for Mark to put out a build video!!
57moto Yes, Iâll be putting out videos on my channel. And Iâll pass your message along to Dex. đđ»đđ»
Tip from an ex windshield installer. If you cut your silicone tube at an angle, you can shoot a triangular bead. It is much easier to get a good seal with a triangular bead compared to a round one.
It's funny, all of the safety concerns with the parachute remind me of the stuff old boys used to say about seat belts and airbags in cars
Your children are incredibly lucky to have a father like you. Hopefully they inherit the natural energy you possess. Absolutely amazing what you accomplish with your time.
Great to see you and Chandra back home and getting into the groove again. Tell Dex that he did a beautiful job on the paint from what I could see and I am so impressed with his mechanical skills, doing a crank-up rebuild. Those skills will pay off all his life. Thanks for sharing your skills and talents with us all once more, too. Have a great week!
Jeff Edwards Thank you so much. Dex loves digging in to his projects and always has a couple going on at any given time.
Chandra SlyFox Patey - thatâs so great. You guys are doing a great job with those kids. I canât wait to see how your Carbon Cub turns out, too.
Chandra SlyFox Patey you two are amazing parents.
Joseph Plummer Thank you so much đ
You gotta teach Dex to do the "back to work" arm pump. I love how you explain potential issues without insulting your viewers!!
That really is a great skill... more perspective, really. Every question of criticism is a chance to teach something really cool, and it seems to Mike that everything you could teach someone is really cool. Everyone is one of today's 10000 on some topic.
Was about to go to bed.... If Mike can go with less than 2 hours of sleep, I can make do with 7.5. Bring it on!
Sleep deprivation for the win! 5-6 is money
@Chet Carson I was kidding. I know the effects of sleep deprivation. I have a very specific job where I don't sleep a ton but i can function on 5-6 no problem
@Chet Carson yeah doing this schedule for about 8 years I'm super used to it. Sleeping more messes me up a ton
â@Chet Carson Absolutely! A Many people are like that. I've never been able to sleep for long, except for when unwell. I sleep for about 3 to 5 hours, and sometimes for only 90 minutes. In my teens, sleep was normally for about 1 hour. It's definitely an inherited thing, as evidenced by generations of my family.
Me: Bedtime!
Mike Patey: ....NOOOOOPE
Me: NOOOPE!
Aaaaand now I am too hyped to sleep to get up at 5 am tomorrow. Thanks a lot Mike! đ
Mike , thanks for continuing to keep us updated!! I'm sure that you are aware how blessed and fortunate that you are!! Cool and gifted kids , beautiful and talented spouse who shares your loves and passions! Can't wait to start following Chandra's ' build ' ! Dex is well on his way to anything he chooses , you are right to be so proud. It's all " PURE PATEY " !! Catch you on the next one , Blue Skies !
I really needed that laugh. đ
Bedime........??
Noooooooooopppppeeeeeeee
Congratulations on the addition to your family. Can we get your wife to vlog her build here too?
Please keep us updated on the wave runner project as well! Canât get enough of the content! BACK TO WORK đ€đŒ
Yeah, more Scrappy!
And a Carbon Cub to watch being built!
So good to see you guys back. Was getting worried. Brings a smile to my face to watch you work. Can't wait for the maiden! Anxious to see what Chandra does to her new Cub! Thanks for my aviation fix!
Mike, aviation is still a dream for me. Retired from the Army and went to work right away to improve quality of life for my family. Itâs been going well and a big part of my success has come from the motivation that watching your content gives me. Keep it coming..thanks!
Wonderful!! Wishing you my best for success in your life.
âLetâs throw this motor in your wave runner. Yup! Back to work!â dude I am proud too :)
This is my most anticipated build! Thank you for sharing all the footage.
Great to see you back working on Scrappy!! Thanks for the update and the wave runner looks great as well..
âParts arenât needed anymore!â lol you two
We wouldn't mind seeing the wing design progress. We love CAD. And there's a kid building a carbon fiber 240Z who loves you Mr. Mike. His channel is called Street Bandito. He loves your back to work.
Street Bandito is how I found this channel lol
@@dingus153 lol cool. I had been watching. Go back and watch some Draco videos. That was a beast. There's a video they did with grabbing Draco's wingtips in flight by two wingflyers. Great video and great science.
Imagine being this guys son/daughter and doing anything mechanical for the first time. I think we can all agree Mike is himself a machine. I would be nervous as shit.
Son: Hey dad look at this waverunner I rebuilt.
Dad: *standing in front of the plane he custom built left-handed while blindfolded* Thumbs up
imagine your dad hugging you and telling you you've done a good job. Jesus pls stop flying those planes and keep hugging your kids.
His kids have to start somewhere, itâs cool that heâs taking interest in the stuff his dad does so later down the line they can build things together.
His kid did great! Just a matter of place in life.
He'll build his own bush plane someday.
My father baught a handsaw 30 years before I was born, and thought it was a power tool.
After being deprived of power tools as a kids, I have collection I will never have a use for; but nothing like his collection.
I wish I would have been able to do things like this with my Dad. Would have loved the hug and good job son.
I love that you address comments and concerns instead of just blowing everyone off!! Love the builds and looking forward to seeing this in the air!!! Back to work!
Nothing short of a true inspiration Mike. You have such a strong work ethic, and innovative mind it reminds me why Iâm studying Aerospace! And most importantly you have a wonderful family who shares in your passions. Itâs amazing to see your son begin to develop his mechanical inclination!
Thanks for the update, was hoping it was busy with wings but happy you are living life too.
Chandra, I highly suggest you employ Dex for your paint scheme and application on your Carbon Cub build. Hope we see it at Osh Kosh in 2021!
Absolutely!! đđ»
I always appreciate how you give a very detailed explanation on how you design, test, and build the parts for Scrappy. I also like hearing you share the thought process you go through with each of your creations. It was good seeing your son and wife too. Good video!
Ty for another great video mike. Please dont feel that you have to say sorry for no videos. Your a fantastic family man and business man and you make theses videos whilst making a carbon cub on top of that. You have a busy life and we all know this. Great work fella. Most of all.
Thank you for taking us all on this journey making scrappy.
What a thoughtful comment. Thank you. đ€
I literally jumped for joy when the notification came up!
Very nice video, thank you. It's great that the family is involved.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! YOU HAVE THE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD, I am sure the kids are eager to learn from two if the most awesome parents the world has ever known. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much.đ€
Thank you, and blessings to you as well.
3 weeks gave me time to binge your stuff and catch up. Please never stop!!! Inspireing.
I'm going to steal so many of your techniques for a bearhawk 5.
Your son's wave runner that he made from scratch should most definitely be named SCRATCHY! đ
This video puts such a smile on my face. I like seeing what projects your family is up to. Great job Dex. I can tell that he is a little shy around the camera. I also liked the format of this video with showing all the different things that you have been working on, and a Q & A at the end. The editing is great too.
Mike, your hard work, multiplied by your engineering balancing act, gives the same effect as the reaction with the Armstrong mixture. And yours: "Let's get back to work" sounds like the beginning of the initiation of this process !! A truly explosive mix of versatile talents! I admire your work and your family's support !!
Please make a highly detailed Scrappy model for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It would be so much fun
This took waaaay to long to come! Great work Mike, you are an inspiration!
Excellent work Dex. It's good to see someone breathe new life into those waverunners and keep them out of a landfill.
Mike, it's great to have you back. It just hasn't been the same without the build vids popping up in my notifications.
I can't wait to see you guys build the new carbon cub kit. I hope Chandra is practicing her "back to work" fist pumps xD
I do practice, but my fist pumps end up looking like Iâm trying to get a semi to honk at me. đȘđŒ I may need to come up with something else đ
Dude you are such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing all of this, can't wait for the next one!
Lets Go!! I have refreshed youtube at the end of the day waiting for a new scrappy video!
Dex's learning bodywork reminded me of how I learned to do body work. When I was 17 I hung around KTOA there was a crew who owned biplanes and I would hang out. with them. One of the guys had a 1969 Jag XKE that he was restoring. On their way to the 50th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge one of them had an engine failure and crashed in the Salinas River. He survived and the only injuries hs sustained was a broken wrist and a concussion. He had pins in his wrist so he could not do work on his Jag. Young Dean was a good listener and I basically became his own personal industrial robot. I did the body work on that XKE and learned enough that I could restore my VW Beetle. It is fun to watch you and your family.
Thatâs an amazing story! Thanks for sharing. đđ»
It sure is good to see you again, 'back at work.' I'm excited for you and your wife and her build. Waiting "expectantly" for the first flight of Scrappy.
Love that your family is getting more involved!! Your passion is infectious Mike!
This channel is just my favorite! Skills, work ethic and a down to earth personality. Props to your son also.
missed you mike glad you are back to WORKING!! canât wait for scrappy to be finished
You are an absolute legend!
Your son did an amazing job with the paint! Very impressed with his skill.
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to more.
Awesome Job Dex on that waverunner. Looks better than it did when it was new. Def have your Dads Taste and those mechanical Genes! Gotta love that "Back to work" fist pump
It looks like Dex is going to have his dadâs ambition and attention to detail. Congrats, Dex, for doing it yourself. Having âdaddyâ buy one for you doesnât give you the opportunity to learn new skills and get that sense of self satisfaction for having done it yourself. Also, love the paint job.
Your inspirational Mike! big smiles etc.!!! THANKS!
Missed the Scrappy videos Mike. Happy work is out of the way!
So good to see you Mike - been impatiently waiting! Kudos for your wife to do a build. You have a super family.
I'm an old dude but hoping I last long enough to see Scrappy actually fly - it has been an amazing build.
Mike this is a great video, thanks for the new video was wondering how things were going, God bless you and all your family đđ.
Watching the description of the part then get completely distracted by Elsa in the background at 17:32. Now I got the song stuck in my head.
Firewing131 I am not the only one
Let it fly, let it fly, let little scrappy
fly........
Mike, Draco was really COOL... Scrappy looks like your best work ever... sure hope all of us will get a chance to get up close for some wall prints....
I'll do the cross country thing AGAIN just to see her. Huge Thank You for the Video.
So awesome... so pumped to see a scrappy video... made my night!!! canât wait to see the new carbon baby be built...Dexâs wave runner is looking so good... awesome family you got there!!!
Giving birth to a Carbon Cub could be a little tough sounds like you two will need to practicing your all's breathing, visualization, and all that good stuff. đ
Youâre the Christian Von Koenigsegg of the aviation world.
Just without the awesome piston engines.
In fairness, the engine hanging off the front of scrappy is pretty amazing tbh. Generally engines that hold world records are pretty cool!
They even have the same hairstyle!
That's a good analogy.
If only i knew who that was
Love to see more of the Carbon Cub build and the watercraft build!
Cool a new series of awesome video. Lots of family fun to come. đđ»âđ»đšđŠ
Design engineering executing the build you definitely have it all covered!đ
WOW! on the Waverunner, great work Dex.
I will be looking forward to Chandra outdoing you Mike with her CubCrafter. How cool is that? đ€đŒ
Congratulations on your new addition. ;-) Building, rebuilding and using cool stuff is just fun! Fun to watch, and we're learning fab tech.
Serious Mike. Your videos are like opening presents on Christmas every time you post them! I really think this is some of the best content on CZcams, and possibly anywhere! Keep doing you, and we will be here to enjoy it and "go along for the ride". Cheers!
I want that GWS Slow Stick in your garage!! :-) Those were some fun airplanes!
âIf you donât have the money or it doesnât make sense.... for me it doesnât make sense...â đ subtle flex from Mr. Patey
Fantastic Mike Patey! Very good
Thanks for ending my Patey video withdrawal symptoms! Glad to have you back.
You do realize don't you, that you are a cinch to receive the Oshkosh Master Builder's Award for Scrappy.
hes for sure receiving it tho
I would vote for if i could
I second that VOTE!!
What do you mean? I already voted by mail, maybe I'll vote again next week.
@@dkni231 hahahahahaha
I bet the big secret Mike is waiting to spring on us at the end is that Scrappy is Stealth.
Is that why his carbon fiber is so expensive?
What an extraordinary family! Love all your work. Can't wait for the next episode!
Three weeks... it was a tough wait! Glad to see your progress! As always... thanks for sharing!
YES. MIKE!!! WE LOVE YOUâ€â€â€
Gotta say, you got a gorgeous wife a beautiful family, a dream job, a work ethic that i wish many more had. As well as a great attitude. Seems to me that you can show ppl dont have to be a d... To get the things they want in life . just hard work and a great attitude.
Thx mike
Helps when your work is also your hobby and pleasure.
Looking Forward to seeing the next build in the series.
These are awesome builds.
Can't wait to see more from Mike and his scrappy .love your videos .
Mike, thanks SO Much for your CZcams video, I was going through major Mike Patey withdrawals.
Wave Runners looking good too!
Thank you Mike. Love it!
That was such a clever way to announce the new build, canât wait to see the progress. I am a Scrappy junkie, keep the fixes coming. It was a long three weeks. Great to see the love in your family.
Heck yes, back to work Mike!
All of these Brackets remind me of Bad obsession Motorsport, love these two channels, and of course the builds they are doing
What a man, what a wife, what a family! And sooo much to look forward to. Back to work đȘ
Thank you so much đ€
My pleasure, Chandra. Looking forward in great anticipation to see your build!
Just awesome,. Love all the speciality add-ons, it just really personlizes more and more. Thanks for your dedication and time in sharing on the tube.!
Man this thing is really coming together đđșđž
You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for being you. You're such an inspiration and I look forward to seeing your videos every week. I would love to find a way to come work for you but you probably don't have much use for a software engineer đ€·ââïž
Awesome you're back. Can't wait to see what the wings are like.
Awesome! Beautiful! Thanks Mr. Patey. This is great stuff.
I was ready to sleep, but the magic notification from Mike Patey channel came! Yes! Cheers from Brasil Mike! Hope Chandra have some fun along the way. And man, scrappy is awesome! Back to work!
Fabiano França Absolutely.đ€
Chandra SlyFox Patey Ha, you are also here, that's awesome! đđ Hope to see the journey of the cub build, Chandra!
Fabiano França Yes, Iâll have it up on my channel soon. đđ»
@@ChandraSlyFoxPatey Aww cool we will have two Patey's channels to watch, can't wait.
Holly crap Mike, you are one lucky guy!
Mike's a great example of one who creates his own "luck". He's extremely fortunate.
Hi Mike . I am more than 8,000 miles away (in Tanzania, East Africa) and wanted to let you know that you never seize to impress me with your passion, enthusiasm & dedication with which you seem to do everything in life. Was also happy to see your wife embarking on her cab build but even more amazed to see your youngest son rebuilding the wave runners. Its a manifestation of how great of an example you are to your family and to rest of the world. Keep up the good work and looking forward to see scrappy go airborne.
Thank you so much! My regards to you from America. đđ»đđ»đ€
Always seriously impressed with you enthusiasm and presentations! So well explained.
The man has it all.
The legend is back!!!
That all looks like a ton of fun. Wife wants to replace her brand new Carbon Cub with a more custom one that SHE will build??? That's amazing.
You are doing a AWESOME JOB, this is more like art, nice work đđ€ đ©đȘđđđ
Finally, someone who actually waves their hands while âhand wavingâ. Looking forward to the new carbon cub project.
đđŒ Thank you!!
The Fifth Kid is the BIG baby... the Kiss sealed the Deal! How Sweat!!! Best Hugs for the Best Tugs!
Racer Dave đđ€
He was singing in his head " How sweet it is to be kissed by you"
You are one really fortunate guy! Great planes, Great wife, great family. Its awesome that you obviously appreciate and cherish them all.
Was checking the channel daily to see if I missed a video. Love the videos!
Nice Mike! Where building one at our school hope its as much fun for your wife as it is for our class, also congratulations!
I absolutely love your videos! I wish I had the Ingenuity to make things like you. You motivated me to start my own channel with your awesome content. Thanks for the inspiration!!! And Congratulations!!!! Thatâs exciting news!
Hoosier Pilot man I LOVE the Patsyâs! Itâs crazy the stuff they come up with! Good luck on your own channel BTW.
Chad Dossett thanks man much appreciated!!!
Thank you! And my best wishes to you and your build! đđ»đđ»
Chandra SlyFox Patey you too!
Mike, I am in awe of your creative skills and energy. It hurts my brain to even try to think about what you do. But, me and Mr Newton would like to take exception with your description of air "sucking" out of the bomb bay. In my religion, air and everything else only moves if something pushes on it.
It is indeed liberating when the kids grow up. It has allowed me to pursue my Liveaboard Catamaran Build, Love this channel guys, congrats on amazing content and a mission to expand the avaition and composites builds. Cheers Rossco in Aus.
