    Is VW the cheap brand of Skoda now ? The Enyaq looks way more premium than this, hum not sure about the VW group strategy here...

    • @lubosmotl5200
      @lubosmotl5200 Před 3 lety +13

      The strategy of the VW Group's strategist is to push Škoda to make cars similar to Dacia or some Chinese crap. However, VW and Škoda effectively have independent teams that try to do their best and which aren't controlled and can't be controlled by a "strategist" and Škoda - which is a company with 125 years of experience in finding simply clever engineering solutions - simply ended up with a cheaper car that is €10,000 more luxurious than ID.4. If VW Group wanted to erase its profit and go bankrupt soon, it could return to the "strategy", to ban Enyaq, and produce the sale-proof ID.4. Of course, the group may also do the opposite, i.e. to focus on the production of the better car, including the production in Zwickau in East Germany.

    • @MaximilianvonPinneberg
      @MaximilianvonPinneberg Před 3 lety +11

      @@lubosmotl5200 I would disagree. That's how Skoda was in teh late 90s. Now, they are trying to push all brands upmarket. Audi on a par with Mercedes and BMW, VW to almost take over where Audi was, Skoda is now almost on a par with where Volvo was 10-20 years ago. Solid, semi-upmarket and dependable practical cars. SEAT is now on a mission to be VAG's Alfa Romeo (and possibly Jaguar). I agree with Emilien, the Enyaq looks much more upmarket than this, very similar to Peugeot in many ways (another midstream brand that is going upmarket). This ID4 looks like a normal family car without any flair or elements from a more upmarket car. Perhaps they don't want the Audi sales stolen by VW. In many ways, I like that VW are going back to their heritage, but this is just a little too far downmarket, especially after the cost savings done to the Golf8.

    Seems the ID.4 is more in line with what VW should offer although it shares some of the interior parts with the ID.3 like the front armrests and the IC, but it makes sense after all since the price is quite good being that it is an EV with a decent battery capacity. I like it
    I've just driven the ID.3 and, even after having seen all the videos online with it, I was still pleasantly surprised by the car. It really looks better seeing it in person. I expect ID.4 to have at least the same effect

I have never had a car without spare wheels, and am very skeptical of the included compressor and the stick that usually comes with it. Is it possible to buy spare wheels for VW ID4, is there room for a narrow spare wheel under the lid in the luggage compartment, and in that case will the wheel bolts fit, or do you need other bolts? I hate low profile tires and rims, is it possible to have the car delivered with 18 "rims for summer and for winter wheels when the car is ordered new?

Just curious as other VWs have a section of glass that opens up, in addition to the sliding interior cover. Great review. A difficult question to Thomas: How would you compare ID4 to the Audi etron? I have for some time wanted to buy the etron, but seeing ID4 (and Enyaq) makes me wonder what the difference is. We have 3 kids. Today we have two cars: Audi A6 allroad 2015, and Touran 2016. Obviously, the difference in quality is huge and I pick the Audi every day if I can get up before my wife. Now we want to go all electric, and sell both the Touran and A6 allroad. Is it correct to say that the etron is relative to ID4 in the same way that Audi allroad is relative to Touran? Or is the gap much reduced? In other words - does it make sense to buy an Audi etron or is it a stupid investment?

      @@Demobot1 All I'm saying is that when a new type of car is introduced -- especially an electric one -- its needs to have everything all the other have. If it doesn't at least meet their capability, then what's going to interest new buyers?
      One compromise isn't too bad, but a series of them and all the interest wanes. The frunk is a feature that all electric cars have had since their introduction. If a new one is missing that, you feel like you're been short changed unless they wow you with a different new features. The only feature of this new VW are the seats, everything else is lackluster. Now if the ID.4 had double the driving range, then it would make sense. For now its just one of the crowd and sits towards the bottom of that pile.

    • @Demobot1
      @Demobot1 Před 3 lety

      @@krane15 I hear what your saying but your wrong. Every can can't have the same features that other cars have. Case in point in that the Nissan Ariya doesn't have a frunk . But like the ID.4 the Ariya has a spacious front cabin. Also the Ariya has a center arm rest that can be moved forwards or backwards. The ID.4 has a opening in the rear seat that you can pass long items through.
      In regards to the ID.4's range, if it had twice the EPA rated range it would surpass any and all Tesla's buy a country mile. Thus isn't a reasonable expectation yet. And I'm ok with with the ID.4 being at the bottom of the EV pile as long as it fits my needs.
