Was in Narbonne Plage recently and this song popped into my head .I played this while there and people began to move hips , sway and look out to sea . I then found his house in Narbonne its quiet humble but beautiful and is open to the public. Great song, encapsulates our time "sur la Plage " and two weeks in the Narbonne area. Nice spot

When the children were young in the 1980's we used to go down to Fregus and the South of France for our holidays. My husband is now no longer with us, killed in a cycling accident, but this beautiful song sung by Charles Trenet brings back such happy memories of our wonderful times there.

Dommage que les gamins d'aujourd'hui n'apprennent pas ce genre de classiques à l'école ( et oui aujourd'hui ils apprennent en cours de musique la chanson " ramenez la coupe à la maison " pour ne citer qu'un exemple 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️, comme s'ils avaient besoin de l'école pour la connaître celle-ci. Often played on the old BBC Light Programme back in the 40's and 50's, my dear old dad bought the 78 of it (On Columbia I think it was) and have loved it ever since. This and 'So Tired' by Russ Morgan from around the same time take me back to my childhood. Both merveilleux chansons.
