For way too many years now I have been an obsessive jazz nut! But jazz can sometimes be a little bit claustrophobic I guess, and we tend to look inwards. From the very first time I heard Te Vaka some 10 years ago or more, they have been like a blast of fresh air just wafting over my bald head! Utterly sweeps you away into another place and space. Being with someone from Tokelau for 12 years and long before Moana my oldest fell asleep to your music , and I’m still not over how insane it was to hear Opetaia’s voice in a Disney movie 😂 my late husband would have just loved it ❤

No, you have a very valid point most Samoan languages are unrecorded in our past down he has spoken language we don’t really have a textual correlation, and it be such a shame. God forbid if anything happens that they’re beautiful culture and their language dies out without being recorded.

Not sure how that will go though, since Tokelau is about 3 days away by plane, but I think I'll manage. The success lies in the trying, not in the completion.
