About time we mainlanders got to see and here this incredible music. :) Say what you will about Disney but now millions of people know there's a hell of a lot more than Don Ho and the Hula to Polynesian music and a rich history and culture that the missionaries tried so hard to kill off.
James Penrose Missionaries never killed off our Culture by bringing the Good News of Le Atua. Much of the Pacific Islanders are unashamedly Christian & worship Jesus Christ in our Mother tongue gladly.
I'm kanaka maoli, i agree polynesia is deeply rich with mele, waiata, `oa, `oli and so on and so forth. I respect my ancestors choice to follow the missionaries. Though not all did... I undauntedly find my church in nature and the land, sky, sea and my kupuna and those that came before... Their journey stirs inside of me and I am here because of them... awaken your spirit and honor your gifts then you honor your kupuna - we are in the renaissance of the ways of our ancestors...

This performance is just beautiful. I’m currently in a production of Moana Jr, and one day, our director showed us this performance and I loved it so much that I wanted to watch it on my own! Being in Moana Jr, I’m so glad that me and the rest of the cast get to pay homage to such beautiful cultures ❤️
