Get your ideal grip first then mount accessories around that grip. Tape switches mounted on the top rail work best for support side shooting, esp when using a tape switch mount by Cloud Defensive. Impact Weapons Components make & sell the absolute best light mounts available. They also manufacture a lot of the mounts for other big name companies like Bravo Company & Haley Strategic, among others. IWC also have the hands down best customer service. I had a couple questions about specific mount, forend, light, front sight setups & the owner took apart a number of his personal guns/setups to be able to configure a gun with my setups & took pictures of multiple configurations for me to be able to see what would work & not work for my setups. I had his reply email with all of the different configuration pics in only 2 hours from my original email. Absolutely outstanding customer service & all around good people to deal with!
Thanks for getting straight to the point.
ahahahahahaha
Always good to converse and see others opinions. All this is good. I cover my light with a flip up scope cap. Protects the light when closed ie day light or when not needed, some when closed will cast a very dim green light through the cap which is nice depending. Can help prevent accidental illuminating ie while moving from here to there. Align the cap so when it flips open it “blocks” the muzzle gas : between it and the light lens. Keeps the light safe just like it would on a scope, simply flip open depending on environment you find yourself in at the time.
Nice video/info, thanks for taking the time to discuss.
Huge help on how to use a light and where to put it.
Great video! Excellent points! Struck all the concerns I was having. Thanks!
Good point about laser placement
Lot of good pointers on here!
Good information. Thank you.
Good video! Thanks!
I have picatinny mounts on all 4 sides of the muzzle end of my handguard, so I prefer to put my light on the underside, about an inch back from the muzzle brake. That leaves me plenty of room for hand placement, between the back of the light and vertical foregrip. I'm running a 16-inch barrel with 15-inch handguard.
I want mine under and at 12 O’Clock. No shadows for you?
@@Teabagonyou under is 6 o'clock
Great video.
Seems mounting it on the opposite side of your body (right side for a right handed person) means a lot less interference when mounting or slinging the firearm.
Also, if you're shooting around cover, your light won't be blocked.
Great point
I have this really good flashlight bright as shit Looks good too but it is a little longer than I’d like only because for me to be able to comfortably hold my gun and turn the flashlight on and off I would have to have the tip of it in line with the tip of the muzzle any tips?
I love this man 4 this
I have no problem with shadow problems. My light it just in front of my forward pistol grip
Good tips. What kind of light are you using?
The light I'm using in this video is discontinued. It was a joint venture between Surefire and Viking Tactics. Looks like VTAC still has some in stock www.vikingtactics.com/product-p/vtac-mini-l4.htm
Mount the light to the opposite side of your sling. I am a lefty shooter and mount my rifle light on the left side away from my sight of aim.
What sling are you using . can you give me link . Thank you awsome video
It is a Viking Tactics sling from Kyle Lamb's company.....the quick disconnects are a separate purchase
At least im not the only one who shoots right handed and has the light on the left side...
I mount my lights away from my body when slinged
Wanna solve the sling issue just get a single point sling. I respect all people's personal preferences with what they use and how they set up their weapon but I don't really understand two point slings anymore, single points are soooo much better. Far more versatile, more comfortable.
How often do you honestly see a laser mounted on the bottom of the rail? lol.
nice ideas there... can we talk about shadow casting? is it really a problem or not?
Absolutely not. If you've ever actually mounted a light and also understand the physics of light it's no issue. Light bends rather quickly, so the further the light travels (the further down range it's pointed) the more itll bend, basically cancelling any shadow casting. Any shadow you get is going to be a little blip at the edge of the light projection.
Can someone help me here. I have a carbine gas system but the rails are only 7 inches long. This rifle is considered carbine length? I was looking for videos that show how to mount on a carbine but this seems like mid length? Guess I'm confused
The rifle this guy is holding looks like a full size rifle with probably a 16 inch barrel. I wouldn't call that a carbine.
@@JJ_SDWR don't let the ATF tell you what is long
@@travis0629 what? Never mentioned the ATF, he is asking what size the rifle in this video is so he knows how it will look on his set-up. I do listen to the ATF seeing as I don't want to get thrown in a gulag over some bullsh*t, but I get it.
@@JJ_SDWR "I'll just comply with unconstitutional BS because I don't want any trouble, daddy."
How un-American 😮💨😮💨😮💨
@@CertifiedClapaholic sorry, I don't listen to the opinions of scumbag criminals who break the law.
You will have a shadow regardless. Honestly shadows aren’t that big of deal in real world situations.
Idk about advice from someone that has a huge loop in their sling ready to get caught on stuff....
