    This game continues to be adorable; the manual you’re slowly building up makes me nostalgic for the days when games came with a physical book in the box, anyone else missing those days?

      For sure... disappointed to see that out of all the switch games I bought, only Binding of Isaac had it... (not counting ones that have physical versions sold by specific outlets)

    Keith, keep a look out for two comments that are backseating *and* spoiling aspects of the game you have not been directed to yet at all. It's disappointing seeing people try and ruin the progression through knowledge part by not letting people figure it out on their own... it just makes the puzzles obsolete.

    Love the way you are actually picking up on the reading the manual and picking up on hints. So many players just seem to throw themselves at the same problems in the same way. They might as well be telling themselves to "get gud".

    Without knowing anything about the game, my first impression so far has been that it reminds me of FEZ. The art is adorably colorful. The world is complex and instantly informs you that there WILL be secrets. There's an unknown language that looks complex enough that it *might* be translatable. There are ruins that look like puzzles if you only knew how to interact with them.
    I can't wait to see if/how much of this is simply atmospheric or if the game really goes that deep.

      I know it's a year later so no one cares, but I just started this game last night and I love it so far because it seems to be a mix of Zelda, Death's Door, Dark Souls and Fez, all of which I really enjoy for different reasons, but all mixed together is just chef's kiss.

      @@iLL_wILL003 Well here's someone who still cares. This game was a great ride, and it's yet another that once you've seen one blind lets play... it's super addicting to hunt down more. Have a fun journey!

    I think it's very fitting that this was the same room where you previously mentioned that games like this are harder for you to remember your sense of direction.

    This game is so cute but surprisingly difficult. I really struggled to get the sword and eventually had to turn off stamina as it was too difficult to manage

  • @buttonasas
    @buttonasas Před 2 lety +7

    After episode 1, I was sold. Tried fighting the Captain Guard before getting a sword, heh... Played for 3 hours, then tried to decipher the language for like 4 hours.
    Review of *language learning process:* took a bunch of screenshots, it was a lot of fun annotating what the context for various texts were and figuring out which meanings are guessable (like controls in the brochure) and which were actually answers/riddles/hints/lore/tidbits. Noticing common patterns and having first breakthroughs was AMAZING. Then figuring out the major structure of the language was also really fun. Then completing the detailed understanding of symbols was a bit exhausting and translating the first text that I had no idea what it could mean was quite a chore (the least fun by far but I bet I'll get much faster at it).
    So, my recommendation: try and uncover the structure of this language (you can definitely do it!), then if you're sure you got the gist of it, you can look up the rest of the language details for fun... but using that knowledge will prove a bit unrewarding for most pieces of text. However, it's possible to pick out interesting objects (usually center-screen text prompts with zero English) and discover they have more to it than meets the eye - I am in the process of this step and that _is_ rewarding - surprisingly, I found more mysteries than answers (and that's a good thing)
    This is addressed to everyone reading, you can even uncover the language even if you don't own the game, just taking screenshots from these videos!

    • @buttonasas
      @buttonasas Před 2 lety

      I didn't use any fancy knowledge nor tools - cropping screenshots and pasting them in a rich text editor (like Google Docs) is sufficient, then you just try and look at the patterns, sift through material and take notes. Does take at least 4 hours, though, like I've said.
