Today we take a look at The Witcher 3's latest update. This adds in proper mod support with the newly released RedKit and even Steam Workshop support for mods.

They NEED to make a mod tool kit for Cyberpunk on this level before they leave the game behind for good! There are so many passionate modders making mods without devkit type mod tools like this so imagine how amazing mods can be with this kind of tool kit! It would give the game life for another decade!
I'm sure it's on its way. Cyberpunk does have official mod support to a degree but it's more like CDPR is giving them some support while the devkit is being worked on
Witcher 3 also had official mod support before the REDKit was an idea in their minds.
Hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 will follow suit, and soon.
My number one request for CP2077. I've made some personal mods (default loadout and some immersion extensions) with Redscript but it's so limited. WolvenKit lets you edit data but doesn't support the datatypes natively like the visual editor in RedKit.
Cyberpunk is getting just that however, last I heard we're a few years away from its release. When it comes out we'll finally be able to rebuild the mountain of cut content and make the game what it should have been. Personally looking forward to the casino being rebuilt the most.

Also add the gangs/factions content we all wanted including clothing and style affecting gameplay. I was really looking forward to the possibilities with those features. Idk if it will ever happen but I'd download those mods in a heartbeat.
This would be a game changer if studios other than Bethesda really started doing this. Right now official mod support is basically the one thing that makes Bethesda stand out.
Larian is doing this as well, they did it with DOS2 and they announced a full fledged Modding Tool for BG3 as Well
Imagine if they can add mod support on console like Bethesda did....fallout 4 and Skyrim really drew fans back on console when they added it

Enderal is a super impressive total conversion! Would love to see someone do something similar with this game. It'd be extra neat 'cause this trilogy originally started on a heavily modded version of the engine used for D&D RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.

yeah, being able to go to new locations with mods in cyberpunk would be awesome! i been dying for more content in that game ever since i finished phantom liberty
They just took off the last handful of devs working on Cyberpunk 2077 recently, so unfortunately I don't think that'll ever happen. I don't even understand it, 2077 is now more popular than TW3 and definitely more modded. They gave us the joke of a mod tool that was REDMod and it's probably the reason they won't bring these Witcher tools to 2077. It doesn't make any sense to me.

If you still remember, even way before the release of RedKit, there are some talented modders who created quests such as 'Ciri's Sole Memento' and 'The Night to Remember', all of which use limited mod tools that were available to them at that time. Now imagine the plethora of great fan-made quests that we will get with this RedKit...

we have the tools to clone the voice for any npc you want WAY easier than we did during the hey day of fallout 4 mods

@@schmeeckle4847 We can photoshop anyone's face into any scene, and as long as we don't pass it as reality, it's fine. We've been doing this for years, even turned it into memes. Using someones voice to extend the art that they already participated in doesn't sound like a problem to me
I'm totally fine with AI voice being used only for mods.
I think this is awesome and I couldn't complain. This is a great farewell to REDengine, if also coming to Cyberpunk at any point, will be even better. The steam workshop integration is a very good thing as well. Since the launch of load order tools coming to the workshop I hadn't noticed any games taking advantage of it.

Cool modding idea: Grealt sometimes say "Gonna hang your head from my saddle" so in this mod it will actually be possible to have the "cut off head" animation (exclusively done on special monsters) but now it should work on every enemy human as well if one chooses to "loot" the head among the corps belongings hehe

Really want to see a scabbard strap mod. Witcher 2 have geralt's scabbards connected to the shoulder belt thing he used to carry his swords, whereas witcher 3 doesnt. A small immersion touch
Really hope we get modkits on this level for cyberpunk and starfield but I'm definitely going to try and pick this up and see if I'm smart enough to make the things I imagine
Why is it so hard for cdpr to drop a single update with the hooded cape for the Witcher and the night vision Kiroshi optic for cp2077???!!!!

an entire update just to upload a single cape or optic that only you will most likely use? Yeah seems productive to me.
Do you think modders will be able to fix the constant traversal stutters or the bad implementation of raytracing on the next gen upgrade or will all of the mods only affect story and textures? Really disappointed by CDPR never addressing the issues they were supposed to fix

Because it's such a good game I never really wanted to mod it much. Unlike a bethesda game that is only replayable with mods.
you should tho, there's so many amazing mods that they won't take away from the experience but add to it

I used to dream to make game like witcher in unity or unreal like small quest for me and friends to enjoy but is like a suprise to me now i can do great stuff with it
this is cool and all, but as i really didn't get into TW3 i'd like to see Red Kit released for Cyberpunk. from what i understand, both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 run on the same engine.

maybe that project that was going to remake the witcher 1 in 3's engine might get going again. they had the issue before where they couldn't really add the terrifier from the first game due to modding limitations.

Did they add any patching or something like that ? Flickering shadows in Toussaint, stutters and fps drops in big cities and crowded areas is that all patched ?

I am assuming AI tools like ElevenLabs are going to be used to create new voice lines for Geralt, the only way to recreate his voice without the voice actor.

Wow i just started playing witcher 3 for the first time and using mods and this happens...oh what a day
If you're playing this game on Linux, you can copy your Mods folder from the Windows version of Witcher 3 directly into the same place in the Linux Witcher 3 directory and the game will recompile the scripts during launch, without you having you having to install them again with Nexus Mod Manager.
Just Imagine the community doing a witcher 2 convertion like Skyblivion

Honestly, If that's possible, I would like to see mods making the NPCs more believable and dynamic, the random NPCs for most part just look to populate the world, but aren't really interactive

It's a long shot, but it would be amazing if talented modders used this in combination with something like RTX Remix to completely recreate Witcher 1 in the Witcher 3 engine, with upscaled world models and textures. I saw one already transplanted the map of Temeria and the swamps into the game as-is, so I imagine it could be improved upon from there. Playing Witcher 1 with its characters and voice lines, with Witcher 3 graphics would be a banger!
Looks like it's time for another play through in a.month or two when the mods get made.

The real question is wether or not enough mods will be made
The only thing I'm interested in with this is when this comes to Cyberpunk. Imagine being able to enter ALL buildings. There are tons of free spaces to create new quests and events in that game. I would really jump back to modding as I did with skyrim years ago when that happens. I'm sadly not so interested in Witcher 3.

That would be amazing. If they decide to make something like this for C2077, then 9 years from that decision, it would also be cool to add Ciri to that game as a side quest.
This is so exciting we could have some Skyrim level of life brought to this game, couldn't be better timed to be honest theres not much more players can squeeze out the vanilla experience after years of playthroughs, some new mods will be huge for longevity
I wish they added mod support for consoles too or at least let modders create the mods on pc and allow them to be downloaded on consoles. Something like how console mods are used in Skyrim or Fallout 4....

Someone PLEASE use this to make a Sands of Ofir expansion mod. Don't get me know, the DLC we got was great, but I was SO disappointed when the full plans for that DLC were cut.

The best thing is that if devs release modkit, they own the rights to mods people create, so there is a great possibility that we will see them in the next Witcher games
