Jeffrey Hunter was devistatingly handsome and such a talented actor. I thought he was so underrated. Jeffrey was brilliant as Jesus in King of Kings. He deserved an Oscar for that performance. He was taken way too soon and his sons were still so young. I'm sure that terrible accident, on set contributed to his tragic death. The fact that Mr. Jeffery Hunter played the role of Captain Pike for episode is amazing. That so many not only remembered the impact of that performance, that many more today know who Captain Pike is because of him. There is no other.
Currently watching Star Trek for the first time and am so disappointed that he was only in the pilot! What a gorgeous and talented man, may he rest in peace.
As usual an excellent portrayal of J. Hunter. I have seen a couple of his movies and must say a great actor and handsome to boot. He passed on so young. He also seemed like a pure gentleman.

He was such an extraordinary actor. Gawd, his eyes were so piercing, magnetic and spellbinding. What a gorgeous, handsome specimen of a man. Rest In Peace, Jeffery Hunter. Gone but never forgotten. The mold was broken when you left this world.

WoW..I'll never forget his piercingly beautiful eyes, which gave me pause to notice him immediately..loved his acting also. I got hurt on the job and was out of work for 1-1/2 months and became hooked on General Hospital, with Emily McLachlan, "Jessie" being my favorite character. I recall hearing somewhere that she took Jeff's death extremely hard. Emily grew old very quick..and seemed to noticeably change after his death. They were married for such a short period of time, but I understand that she was very much in love with Jeff Hunter..soooooo very sad. As always..great film Mr. Skinner..love your voice. Perhaps a film on Emily McLachlen?
Wow, I never knew what happened to Jeffrey Hunter , only that he disappeared from the screen. How tragic. He made a number of good movies besides the ones mentioned. I remember him as Frank James opposite Robert Wagner as Jesse James. Also I remember 'Sailor of the King' and his role in 'The Longest Day' , 'King of Kings' . He was a very good actor. May he rest in peace.
@@markfindlay8636 This video made the minor but unfortunate mistake of saying all the cast members of that pilot episode of Star Trek were fired/replaced. Actually, Majel Barrett (sp?), WIFE of Gene Roddenberry, had the role that would be assumed by Leonard Nimoy, she stayed on and became the nurse. She would later work on Star Trek Next Generation as Loxanna Trio's mother. On some of the various Star Trek iterations she would be the voice of the computer. As far as comments about the narration: one of my favorite actors was Richard Farnsworth and I thought that was who was doing the narration. Mr Farnsworth was a kind and gentle man with a very gentle sounding voice. The narrator should be proud to sound like the same type of gentleman.
I've said it before & will say it again, that if you made a video reading the back of a cereal box, I'd watch & give it a like. I still like the Helen Keller vid you made the best. But really...how can you really chose a 'fave' when ALL your videos are so well made. Thank you sir.🤗🤗💖🤗🤗

A very handsome man I did not know much about, passed away the year and month I graduated high school, brought a tear. Thanks Jerry for the hard work and research you do!
Because Im a life long Trek fan,Ive seen most of Hunters films. Most are well worth the time to watch. *Searchers* has always been one of my all time favorite westerns, evan before I knew that Capt Pike was in it.
Lord have mercy: That accident during filming was the beginning of the end. Consequently, any type of fall by the head injuring the skull can be deadly serious. I truly admire how he went to other countries to find work. Very noble 'cause drowning the reasonable disappointment in alcohol never helped anyone. If any thing it HEIGHTENS the problem. One minute a full prosperous career. The next minute all of the cast including himself let go from the Original Star Trek Series. Hollywood hasn't changed much.
It's sad and strange that after the pilot episode is for more money. And that caused the studio to fire the whole pilot crew. And restart the the series with a new diverse crew. That I feel started is down fall. It was just very bad decision to ask for more money at the time. You could have waited when he established himself as an invaluable actor in the series. We all make many terrible decisions in life. God rest his soul his family his children. Man he was such a handsome man..

Love your biographies and the beautiful calm accent as you present them. Thank you.
Jerry..you're so good at what you do...keep um coming. And thank you for all your hard work to put these together.
I thought I recognized him! He was so handsome, and his role on Star Trek's pilot was amazing. So sad how he died.
Tod Hunter was very much like his Dad in looks, I dont know about the other children. A very short life, so sad. Thank you Jerry yet again for your wonderful narration, told with sincerity and concern, as usual. You rock !! big big hugs from the UK xxxxxx
His acting legacy is cemented in The Searchers🤠, one of the best westerns ever. Lovely handsome man. RIP Jeff 😏🙏😘
My Mother thought so much of him, she named me after him ... no kidding
Your name is Herman ?

Wow sad ending to his life. Lot of things happened to him at the end. We never know what our last days well be.
Love your blogs too. Great work
Never know.
Loved him as Capt Pike in The Managerie, original Star Trek pilot..
I thought I recognized him thanks!

This video made the minor but unfortunate mistake of saying all the cast members of that pilot episode of Star Trek were fired/replaced.
Hard to imagine a better looking, more telegenic actor than Jeff hunter.
I agree
Yes, THOSE eyes.....

Thank you so much, Jerry. I´ve been watching all your videos the last 3 days and I learned so much. What a great work you are doing. Regards from Germany
Thanks! I remember him well and enjoyed his work. God rest his soul.
thank you your voice was made for this !
The Searchers was one of the best Westerns of all time. And if only he had stayed Captain (Kirk) on STAR TREK.Ifif ifs?!. Really liked him.
Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to make it for us. Two thumbs wayyyy up.
A handsome Irish man. He was 2 years older than my Mom.
A really good actor, a tragic series of events, he departed in his prime.
May he know eternal positive energies. ✨
He was an American
OOOhhhhh, that was so sad. Thank you, Jerry, for another mini-bio and photos. I could listen to your voice all day long. ---A fan from Oregon.
Thank you Angel. Jerry
