#EDH #Magic #Commander - Hry
Needs more Boseiju Who Endures!
Loran of the Third Path fits in a lot of decks and is very powerful
The reason black market connections is soo good its because it says choose one or more. Yeah I didn't notice either at first, but man that is stupid strong
Love your vids for years now, glad to see the channel growing. Keep cranking out vids and you will only do even better!
love that white got more useable carddraw this and last year :)
Also liked the backgrounds
and one of my top 10 of this year is Jailbreak. 2 mana get a deal with someone and get something important back on the FIELD! :D
at worst this is a 2 mana ramp an enermie and yourself xD
My friend got Ledger Shredder in a booster pack and put it in a janky Raffine deck, it’s super powerful even in lower power levels
I’m so glad to finally see a positive video rather than the negative ones you’ve been making lately.
Excellent video and I agree with each of your assessments of each card, but not necessarily with the order. Totally agree about the new black vibes. I noticed the shift back when Rankle was dropped. It was fresh to get choices and power in single cards for any black build. Love that.
But wanted to actually mention how many folks are ignoring Relic of Legends. Considering most competitive Commander builds rely heavily on Legendary pieces, I feel like it got instant status in the top 10, since it’s almost another busted way to make fast mana in most builds. We all focus so heavily on Treasures and zero cost mana sourcing, but the ability to tap a handful of legendary creatures for a serious ramping boost seems worthy when compared to any of the top 10s.
I guess one could argue that it’s build specific, but with single or dual color identities, the other cards on the list are equally or more build specific. So I think it’s fair to mention Relic of Legends. I believe it will ultimately prove to replace Commander’s Sphere and most 3 cmc rocks entirely.
Most legendary creatures want to be doing things that tapping them down, doesn't allow them to do, like attacking, or activating abilities, or blocking. I run a gruul legendary tribal deck, and it still doesn't play relic of legends, because 1. There's just flat out better mana rocks, 2. There's better ways to get this effect, that are less specific (such as cradle of itlamoc, Jaheira, Friend of the Forest for go wide decks, Selvala, Heart of the wilds for go tall decks, springleaf drum etc). That means the only time this is particularly good is in decks like Kalamax where you want your commander to be tapped.
@@SimonS188 or any deck without green that has legendaries
@@SimonS188 I fully agree with this. But for example, if you’re racing to something like Godo or a large devastating Angel, you’d be happy to tap 3 legendary creatures to do so. Even if it meant giving up their abilities for a turn.
Playing competitively, it would be far more useful to tap 3 good legends to get Godo out 3 turns early, attach helm, and kill the table.
If someone is really into the individual legends in their deck, and wanted to use them, they still could, and the relic serves as a typical rock.
@@SimonS188 and of course Cradle and other tried and true ramp enablers are wonderful. I’m just referring to the best cards of 2022. This list is pretty decent, especially Face-Breaker.. but I felt relic was missing. It’s more utile, and offers the option to tap legends to get ahead of it makes sense to. And it’s from 2022, unlock the better examples you shared. I run all of the above. Not disagreeing at all. Just think Relic is gnarly and people will warm up to it.
Great content
Happy to say I own all of these cards
Haunted One, probably card of the year for tribes with black.
Straddling down a Planeswalker then blinking it with the kitten is dope
Displacer kitten isn't even in my ETB deck. In my spell slinger deck it blinks mana rocks to make spells cheaper, or it can hit the plainswalkers to use their affects again
Saw in Half absolutely should have been on here imo. Also, “non-creature spells are the majority of what you want to stop” is totally ridiculous imo. Thoracle, Craterhoof, Dockside, Pitiless Plunderer, COMMANDERS, Archivist of Oghma, Yawgmoth, Storm-Kiln, Consecrated Sphinx etc. There are way too many massively powerful creatures and creature-based decks to write it off as negligible that Offer misses them.
I have saw in half and craterhoof and I didn't think about that till just now, that sounds like fun lol
Depends on the meta, the higher competitive commander games, he's pretty much right.
@@gaythiestMTG If he's talking CEDH, Black Market Connections shouldn't be anywhere near this list. Not to mention Dockside and Thoracle are some of the best cards in the format.
No Boseiju??? 🤯
I thought Rootpath Purifier needed a mention if not a spot on that list.
Although Shredder as #1 seems overrated, especially for commander list. The Kamigawa lands could also have been listed. Difficult task after seeing so many products being released over the year. Good overall, some amazing cards showing in that top 10.
where's Ingenious Artillerist? that fairly cheap card becomes a killer using treasure, food, and clue token creation combos.
Nice
Farwell and black market connections should be higher on the list.
Farewell yes, Black Market is too niche to even be on the list imo
@@baconsir1159 Niche how? It's extremely generic.
@@dhantefranklin336 If you don’t care about the changeling effect it’s probably not worth it. Phyrexian Arena was already not great when it’s only really good turn 3-4, and pseudo-ramping you for 1 isn’t worth paying triple the life cost.
It wants you to play the card early and get the effect many times like Phyrexian Arena, but if you do that you end up paying a fuck ton of life over a very long time to get decent returns. If it was in White or something it might be worth still, but Black just has much better/faster ways to make treasure or draw cards.
Have to disagree on Ledger Shredder as the top choice for Commander. Modern or other formats sure it could be there but Commander I don't think it's game breaking good or game changing enough to warrant the top spot.
What's your top then?
Its his list :)
Yours might look totally different
I find it funny because I pulled all of these cards from packs.
You might find it funny...but your empty wallet does not!
@@twitchster77 I just get really lucky when I open packs cuz my wallet ain't empty
and you have a girlfriend, she just lives abroad that's why we've never met her
I opened black market connections in a pack I paid $27 for ❤️❤️❤️ straight into my belakor deck.. It makes Demons!! 💯
Saw. In. Half.
Saw in half for sure I agree with list minus Farwell,
I got a copy but don't know what deck to run it in
Unfinity🤮
Saw in Half has a ton of exceptions. It’s got like two pages of rulings already. lol😅
Personally felt Plaza of Heroes deserved to be on that list. Given that its just an auto-include for almost all decks outside of CEDH. Also Boseju, who endures. The Wandering Emperor, and also Blood for the Blood god.
Boseju definitely deserved a spot..Unsure about Plaza of Heroes there. In typical play patterns, it taps for colorless untill you've already played your commander, after which point it taps for colors you already have. Then you can pay mana and exile a land to grant limited protection for a single turn. I don't think I have a single deck I would play that in. Maybe mono color where my commander is THAT important.
In no particular order:
Black market connections
Ledger Shredder
Braids
Archivist of Oghma
Boseiju
Portal to Phyrexia
Loran of the third path
Haywire mite
Sardian Avenger
Brotherhoods end
No green on this list? Is it because every green card is good in the 99?
Okay. Let me just say not enough respect for defiler of dreams giving blue an ad Naus effect with shrieking drake as mono option that slots into multi color is insanely underestimated. I don’t even use face breaker it’s not that good. It’s slow. And easy to remove.
___ Goblin
Farewell will take people out the game. It’s insane how many times I have casted it and people can never recover.
Where is Deep Gnome Terramancer? This card is bonkers. It punishes green players and pushes white ramp. Should be number one in my opinion.
It's good and i run it in a few decks, but I wouldn't have put it in a top 10 list either
Ledger shredder being blue is already a problem, however, Connive is the new "hand filtering" mechanic that also allows the creature allowing the Connive to grow bigger. The thing is, in blue Connive balances the color because blue can just draw cards otherwise and would be handicapped by the keyword, however, mixing black for Dimir makes it come together so that discard fuels the deck and breaks what Connive is through actually running your regular "draw two cards" cards.
Also, i don't get why Braids is so good, maybe in "battlecruiser magic" but it's so slow.
Braids is strong because you can draw up to 3 cards a turn and deal 6 total damage starting as early as turn one if you dark ritual and sac your land. It's just a lot of value in as few as 1 turn on board
Boseiju?
I hate farewell it ruined graveyards decks i had 2 of them and now i cant play them anymore. Rest in peace is strong as hell but farewell just feels unfair if you don't play blue.
cope?
It is one card, bro...
Your list is fine, i like most of those cards :)
Just farewell is a card that needed to be banned on my table. I started the conversation even so having to that point a deck that profit the most of that card (superfriends).
Its like a cyclonic rift just that everything you want gone is gone for ever even the grave. The reset is too cruel for our group and punishes grave decks to strong, indestructable as a tactical option on top of hurting you minimal by not choosing they suboptimal options or not even play anything too important till the card resolves.
It still might be totally ok on your tables and if so good for you. But on our tables the reset button is too strong ^^
Phyrexian Arena has been bad for a long time. These new cards aren’t the reason it’s “no longer a staple”. It’s bad, that’s why it’s not a staple anymore lol
Absolutely no way Ledger Shredder is better than Saw in Half.
Hahaha
I like your bait 😂
Lmaooo ur funny
Bruv
8/8
Ledger shredder? Dude it's edh not vintage or modern
True so instead of triggering twice it triggers four times! I will say it doesn't go in every blue deck as sometimes looting a card isn't that great but even then you have a chunky flyer that can easily block things like Kraum.
Archivist of Ogma ?! lmao "best cards og 2022" ? xD
I refuse to use anything from unfinity. It being legal in the format is an abomination.
Lmao doesn’t even put boseiju on the list… clearly has no idea what he’s talking about
Nice
