thank you for this! i repair & clean items from thrifting to donate to homeless shelters and i was having difficulty replacing a faux fur on a north face jacket. this was exactly what i was looking for and it’s easy to follow:)
Amazing! I was an idiot and threw my daughters coat in the dryer and mentled the faux fur. I've been looking for a solution but this is the only solution that's worth paying attention to. Instructions are very clear. I'll order the fur tomorrow ☺️
I’m glad my video could be helpful! I know, as frustrating as it is, once you fry faux fur, it’s like frying an egg, there is no going back to raw egg! 🥲
You should cold dye it. My family and I go on a lot of hikes and have thus amassed a collection of organic down and synthetic insulation quilted jackets over the years. A lot of them are worn in places like the place where both halves of the zipper meet, along the zipper as well as nicks on the cuffs and torso. It was enough damage that makes them practically unwearable but still too good to throw out. Most had nylon shells others were polyester and one was made out of pvc. I patched the places I could by using thin goatleather trim that you can get very cheap in India. I used suede for some of my mom's stuff. These were around the cuffs and the waistband as binding. This should protect them. Before that. I cold dyed them. It doesn't mess up your synthetic insulation. For all purposes avoid dyeing as these (quilted) jackets can be a bit more sensitive.
I don’t use real fur or leather a lot so I don’t have a good saucing recommendation.. I’d look into indigenous tribe owned businesses. I know a friend who had good experience with finding good quality leather and fur from them.
For cleaner finish, I would replace the existing fur with bigger fur, but for the fear of ruining a brand new jacket-I would probably whip-stitch the new fur by hand close to the base of existing fur…
if you hang it dry, or set the dryer to the low heat, maybe it will survive… or I would just spot clean the jacket until my kid grows out of it (which is usually just one season…)
I mean that's how my parents wanted heated warm while my jacket of fur is still getting damage, And also its entirely Furs. which it means I have to figure it out to get a new hoodie jacket for now.
I’m so sorry you felt misled! I didn’t mean to frustrate anyone by misleading, and I meant “Restore the jacket by replacing the fur” but I see what you mean. Once faux fur is burnt and melted in the dryer, there’s not much you can do with it sadly except for replacing it😭
I made this video 2 years ago so I don’t know if they still have the same product, but I bought it from Joann.com and searched for “fur trim with lip” !

Glad I could be a small help to such meaningful cause❤️

i just bought a new jacket with faux fur on the hood but i want the fur to be bigger. is it possible to add more fur to the already existing fur?

Where are located?
Sachi is my cats name, it’s my favourite name in the world. In punjabi it means truth 💕
wow that’s nice to know! thank you for telling me💕 In Japanese it means happiness :)
@@SachisStudio no way! I had no idea. My name is sukhi, I know in Japanese Suki means moon?
the moon is “tsuki”, and “suki” is a verb and means to like something :)
Where did you say you purchased the fur from?
Joann.com !
Were can i buy the fur?
if you are in the us, I bought it from Joann.com
@@SachisStudio Hello no i'm from Belgium i went to a lot off shops and so online i can't find it I just look it upp and i can order it thank u
I would try Etsy.com! :)
it will get damage of the fur while it gets dirty of fluffiness when you take washer machine and dryer machine and it will be the same thing.

Title is completely misleading! You did not “restore” the faux fur on the jacket. 🤥

Do you have a link of where you can buy the trim? I see a lot online but they look like they don't include the lip.
