  • Esther McVey has announced that Civil Service jobs dedicated to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) will be banned - calling them 'woke hobby horses'.
The Cabinet Office minister said that in future there would be no more devoted EDI jobs in Whitehall outside human resources, and no more staff working solely on EDI work.
Under the plans, new guidance would stop all external EDI spending across the Civil Service unless it is specifically signed off and cleared by ministers.
Carol has her say about this, and has her numbers to back it.

The reason they rent a flat is because they are unable to claim mortgage payments on expenses, so claim expenses for rented flat, they rent out their own flat so win, win for them. The rent from their own flat pays the mortgage and they claim expenses for the flat they live in.

No such thing as common sense, it's a thought-terminating cliché meant to make one's own beliefs automatically right without justification by claiming it's obvious and what everyone supposedly already knows.
Hence, the Tory party and people similar to them like to use it because there are no real arguments justifying their ideology.

Punching lower and lower, appealing to the most spiteful and resentful in society. Then they contradict themselves by saying they want to help Neuro diverse people and others with physical and mental conditions to start or carry on working. How doe's McVey (who despises the class she was born into ) reconcile that? the truth is they do not want to "help" people, they want to Force and coerce people into despair so they have to work, support or not. The direction of attack here is disgusting, not surprising, but disgusting. Once again, trying to highlight that difference is the problem, marginalising and ruling by division. However, there are far too many back room staff in the civil service, NHS etc, which are often paid better than the frontline service jobs which are what we need our taxes to be paid on. Part of the strategy to improve our public services needs to be focused on cutting back on these jobs so there is more money to attract high calibre people to frontline services and keep the existing hard workers in their frontline jobs.
As for diversity-based roles, there is a need for them, but I do cynically worry that these jobs are put into place so companies and services can cover their backsides in the case of being accused of discrimination, rather than actually wanting to help the people who are discriminated against, though that may be a by-product of the role.

I would like to know how much public money is being spent on these “woke hobby horses”, and then compare that cost against Tory hobby horses (ahem, Rwanda policy). Then we compare the value each policy is providing the public (and the percentage of the public). We could then determine which policy is worth keeping and which should be scrapped.

It happened so often that I recorded a meeting and then went to the union with it, they agreed it was vile but they could not do anything.
