I remember when I was first listened to this song with a friend during my time visiting the Republic, she told me "Every Czechs is a musician at heart." The reverence and passion for musical culture is very similar to my home, Korea.
A very rough translation: When I was shoeing the horses, I was at my Anna's place, she did not want to let me go while there are still stars shining. When we were saying goodbye, there were no stars anymore, I am saying to my love, see me off for a while.
@allabastormaroe Yes! This song is recorded on the CD "Hody hody doprovody: Bohemian Folk Songs" Supraphon 11 1592-2 711 and it is a terrific rendition sung by Jaromír Horák and Frantíšek Ledínský. The arrangement is Zdenĕk Lukáš. If you can find this CD, you should get it. It is one of the best recordings of Bohemian folk songs you can find.
Nějak mi tu chybí originální text :) To je samá obecná čeština. :) Hdyž sem kovál koníčky Hdyž jsem kovál koníčky, bul sem hu svý Hančičky. Nechtíla mňe demů pustít, haž neburů vjezdičky. Vjezdičky huž nebuly, ha já říkám svý mjilý : Poj má mjilá vyprovoj mňe, vyprovoj mňe na míli.
can someone translate the title of the song into English? I recently visited the Czech Republic and it captured my heart, what a beautiful country and I know that my feet will carry me back someday
Text: Když jsem koval končíky, bůl jsem u svý Hančičky. Nechtíla mě demů pustit, až nebudou hvězdičky. Hvězdičky už nebůli a já říkám svý milý: "Pojď, má milá, vyprovoď mě! Vyprovoď mě na chvíli." Lyrics: When I shoed horses, I was by my Hančička, She didnt want me to let go home, until there will be no stars (in the sky). There we no stars (in the sky) and I say to my dear: "Go with me, my dear, show me out! Show me out for a while."
Bracia Czesi, piękna i wzruszająca ludowa piosenka! Brzmi, jakby była z pogranicza słowacko-węgierskiego, a nie z zachodnich Czech :) Ale i tak bardzo mi się podoba. Pozdrowienia z Polski!
My 3rd grade orchestra students are studying Antonín Dvořák so I was looking for examples of Czech folk music that might be like some that inspired some of his compositions and I happened across this. LOVELY! Thank you for sharing. If you could let me know any other background on this song - how old is it? What region does it come from? It's just beautiful.
Kak podkovival ja konika byl ja u svoýey Hanichki, ne hotela menja v dom pustit' Poka bili zvezdochki.... (adopted russian version) P.S. Evil Hannichka ^-(
Because when it was written there was no recording. When they played this it was for an event. Maybe you can offer them money and the cost of studio time to get this on mp3 just for you
hi. can anyone here help me with differentiating between czech and russian folk music? I can't seem to tell them apart... just leave a reply or post on my profile. thanks in advance :)
this is a very poetic and beautiful music . It's a pity that some people show their nationalistic ideology , which drives to fascism , though folk music drives to fraternity between people . I am from France and I love slavic music but I hate all nationalisms .
So then you’re not French if you hate nationalism. You’re just a world human, why not go live in a war torn desolate african country if nations truly don’t matter
Sorry guys...i read some comments here... and i think its so stupid to differenciate people because of where they are coming from... for me there is no first and second class people...so sensless i have lots of international friends and sure czechs, slowakians, russians etc. are nice but serbians, croats and all the others too. Its so stupid trying to seperate peoples..and i am quite happy that there are enough people who know that..nd the rest GET TO KNOW THEM BETTER!!!!
And I am proud that I am Czech-Moravian, I am proud on our culture, our history and our ancesters. I am not African, German and so on....I am CZECH. And you haven' t home...so sad....

Velice pěkná melodie. Moc pěkné.
This melody feels like cheering and celebrating a simple life.

je zvláštní, jak málo českého folklóru se tu objevuje - na rozdíl od moravského a slovenského; toto je (velmi pěkná!)výjimka :-))

@cimbalok true! Kocham słowian ;P
@gaaiessaaies Major/minor alternation. It is only one thing that makes Slavic music great.
How do I find more such songs?
