- Gisele Caroline Bündchen is a supermodel, philanthropist, environmental activist and Brazilian businesswoman. Since 2004, Bündchen has been among the highest paid models in the world and, since 2007, she has become the 16th richest woman in the entertainment industry.
In one day she showed that she can speaks 5 languages!
Yall realize the title is "gisele b _speaking_ 5 languages" and not "gisele b _being fluent_ in 5 languages", right?
EDIT: Can't believe I'm editing a youtube comment but I keep getting answers from people that, apparently, can't understand what I said so here goes: *CHILL.* All I did was point out "speaking" and "being fluent" aren't the same thing.
I *DID NOT* say she is a polyglot, my boi Arthur. She's trilingual (as far as I know). She did, however, SPEAK 5 different languages in the video, did she not? If you count from 1 to 3 in japanese, then you SPOKE THREE WORDS IN JAPANESE. Doesn't mean you're fluent, means you know (or read) some words.
I also *_DID NOT_* belittle her for not being fluent in 5 languages my guys -(not assuming genders, it's a manner of speaking)- Harby and Ishida. Speaking one language is hard enough (so much so some people can barely speak their mother tongue¹), knowing 2 is already a big deal and being fluent in 3 is amazing. She's not less then anyone for not being fluent in French and German and I _clearly_ didn't mean this with my inicial comment. I wasn't even talking about Gisele, I was talking about the title of the video.
Nobody has a reason or the right to mock others because they aren't multilingual. I don't give a shit if you're fluent in Russian, Arabic, Mandarin, Korean and Tamazight, you're not a better person then me because I'm only fluent in English and Portuguese. You're just someone that chose to focus your time on learning languages instead of studying other shit.
_¹Since it's so hard to interpret comments, I just want to clarify that some people just don't have the oportunity to learn their mother tongue that well. They're also not worse than any of us, it's just an unfortunate thing that happens._
Finally, my official answer to the next people that insinuate I'm belittling her, or that I'm putting her on some sort of pedestal is: if you're so passionate about expression your displeasure to fellow nobodies on the internet, get your head out of your ass and ctrl+F your way into me explaining why your future comment is wrong.

To the people saying she speaks "3.5" languages or she only speaks "a bit" of French/Spanish: who cares? I don't understand why people constantly feel the need to bring others down. It's not hate, but things have to be called by their name, and if she only knows how to say some things in a language, then she simply does not speak it, what is the problem? The fact that she speaks more than one language is admirable, but if she doesn't speak German, why would we have to say wow she speaks German, if she actually doesn't.

Perhaps you perceived it as clickbait, and that's fine, but others are clearly attacking the video from a different perspective. People can get pretty aggressive when it comes to other people's news or achievements (and pretty much everything else over the Internet). We can just agree to disagree, no need for rude tones or emojis.

that is very common in the south of Brazil. There were a lot of german immigrants, and the language got lost with time. My great grandma spoke german, my grandma understands german and speaks a few words here and there, my mom understands german somewhat, and I have no clue how to say anything other than "i love you"

It looks like she speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish fluently. She says she understands French, loves the language but needs to practice it more, and her parents speak German but she doesn’t. She knows the numbers in German and how to say “my name is Giselle”. Still, it’s quite impressive to have the command of that many languages and to continue to absorb new languages and stay in learning mode. ✨

I speak five languages myself and of all the languages she mentioned, her Spanish is WOW. Really good. Fluid and great pronunciation. For Brazilians is very easy to learn Spanish and understand Spanish than the other way around. As a Spanish native speaker myself I understand Brazilian Portuguese if they don’t speak too fast. I like the tone of her voice.

I’m really impressed with Gisele language skills, but since she is already a native Portuguese speaker isn’t super difficult. Although its fair to say that there are Brazilian speakers who would say that grammatically incorrect even in Portuguese.

Her parents probably do not speak Hochdeutsch... most likely, they speak some dialect like Rio Grandensen Hunsrückisch.
While some private german origin schools tech/taught Hochdeutsch in southern Brazil, immigrants and descendants mostly learned the language outside of school, and it was the dialect from the region they or their ancestors came.

She speaks English and Brazilian Portuguese well, but French and Spanish speak a little as she said. Alemão said only the numbers and the main greetings. The problem is that the descendants of Germans in Brazil spoke their dialects not exactly standard German. That's why they didn't teach her. Well, only needs to speak English as smart and business people use the language. In Brazil 99% speak Portuguese and 5% English in large cities. The other languages are rare. Even Spanish is seldom used far from the few more than 100 small cities on the Brazilian border.

I live in Brussels and Madrid at this time. Married to a french speaking Belgian. Lived 6 years in Zurich, 2 in Romenia, 2 in the US, 2.5 in Italy... and I am brazilian. That’s why I’ve learned all those languages.
