    John, As I listened to this fire on both Manhattan Fire and FDNY DARS radio channels this past Friday night I imagined what it would be like to be there is person. Your video and reporting of this incident is excellent as usual and is definitely the next best thing to being there in person. You seem to have a unique talent of always finding the perfect angle to shoot from allowing your viewers to see where most of the action is taking place. Thank you once again for all you do on behalf of all your subscribers and fans on CZcams.

    Getting better all the time John. It's amazing how you find the best spot for viewing! I was thinking of the guys inside the building. Dark outside, no lights inside but flashlights. Floors maybe burned thru in spots and add smoke to the mix. Has to be a really nerve racking kind of experience. Thanks John!

Tribeca area in Manhattan is a very expensive area to live in. Actually, ALL of Manhattan is expensive. Do you have any idea why they take so long to start putting water in these fires? I've seen this in numerous fire videos, they're all hooked up but they don't start the water until it's more involved. I know they conduct searches but it just seems to take forever before water starts.

      @lincolnford7237 Před 5 lety +5

      Glenonica- I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. When our friend Majesterium arrived at this fire, lines were already stretched into the building and operating. So do you mean the tower ladders? When you see tower ladders raised
      up but not flowing water, it means an interior attack is underway, which means no water applied from outside. The bucket may be up to access the roof, vent windows, make rescues, or just be ready for whatever assignment. When you see them start to flow later into the fire, it means the interior attack
      is being halted either temporarily or permanently, and that the tower ladders will now either knock down the fire enough to get an interior attack resumed, or else to completely extinguish the fire from outside. Hope this helps.

      Monte- rather than a long winded explanation here of Incident Management System, a.k.a. Incident Command System, there is a TON online about this and you can educate yourself. So as an incident escalates, the command system expands, and more chiefs arrive, and the fire scene is divided up between these chiefs in a pyramid shaped command system
      with the Incident Commander at the top. The idea is to have a manageable number of units within a manageable geographic area under the command of each chief. Makes for better control and
      information flow back and forth.

    What's making the beeping tones in the background at all the fires?

    • @jus9813
      @jus9813 Před 7 lety +2

      RS T it's like an alarm the Fire Fighters wear to let others know where they are if anything happens during a fire. It or the FF have to move so that the beeping stops.

      Jerry- 3-11 is how the Chicago FD says third alarm. 2-11, 3-11, 4-11, etc. Don't know why they do that. It seems to be unique to them. But I can safely guess that it has to do with how they transmitted alarms over their bell system in the telegraph days. It has nothing to do with FDNY.

    Has anyone come up with an alternative to water for suppressing these fires. A suppressent gas bomb may reduce a fire enough to make management of the fire much easier. Just wondering why in this technological age, we still rely on diminishing supplies of precious water.
