    This is awesome. I fell in love with this type of bookcase when I started looking at pictures for DIY woodworking projects. Now that you have posted dimensions and demonstrated the process so well, I'm determined to make one for our home. Thanks for the inspiration!

    The pair of you are wonderful people and I hope you are rewarded x7!
    Share your knowledge to help others improve their home world, in an easy, not a lot of tools, inexpensive way! Too many today build such things placing astronomical price tags on them or on the design.

    What a great project! Really nice looking. Plus you could add extra shelving layers to it! Great to see both of your "helpers" are on task!

    Just made this and it looks wonderful. The wifey was surprised at how good it looks. We used 4x8 plywood and cut it down since it was about 40% cheaper. Itll still cost more that $100, but no complaints for how it turned out.
    Ours did have one difference than this video. With the dimension at 1:20 in the video, the 11.25" matches to the 13" on the 12" side... so the vertical wall will be 12"H x 11.25"D, which put it setback and not flush to the shelf front IF you're using 12" width boards... it would need to be 12×12" drilled to the 13x12" -- either way, still looks sharp, the verticals walls are just set back an inch from the shelves.
    I'd also suggest using wood glue for added "shelf" life. Bahaha.

    I just made this project and it turned out beautifully. I cut down on the width to fit my space, but the proportions still look great. Thanks for such a great tutorial!

    How much were the 1x12x8 boards? Because at Home Depot, they are $26 each!

    • @Marredplatypus
      @Marredplatypus Před rokem +5

      It should say more like $150 for this project. 1x12 are $25 with tax plus legs and angle plates. Still a cool little project but definitely not $70

    The $70 is it's a little misleading....... The stain the legs the wood filler the sponge, Even a small Box of those screws Themselves are around 5 to $10. So where did you get the lumber For that kind of price for $70? Why don't you buy everything at 1 time that you need and post the receipt for us so we can see the actual cost. But you did a great build. The work is phenomenal. Just seems little clickbate to me.

    Hello! Thanks for this video, going to do this project for some vinyls. Do you know if a normal record will fit, or will I need to measure higher?

    • @kaylarobinson8170
      @kaylarobinson8170 Před 4 měsíci

      The 11 1/4” pieces seem to decide height, so I’d scale those up by an 1.5” to give some clearance for your records. Pretty sure the standard jacket is just under 12.5”. I’m hoping to make it for the same thing here soon.

    building this step by step using every single piece of hardware and stain and poly you have in this video. Everything has turned out perfect except the polyurethane coat. I've followed exactly how you do it in the video same foam brush same everything and it looks like crap now. You need to make an explanation video on how to use polyurethane. Gonna have to put some serious hours onto fixing this once simple prpject

    • @TheRehabLife
      @TheRehabLife  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Did you apply one coat or more? Many times it will take multiple coats of poly for that smooth/shiny finish. Wood is porous and can absorb some of the poly which may lead to a blotchy look after only one coat.

  • @monsoonBloom
    @monsoonBloom Před rokem

    Someone spoke of common boards (and that they're less money), maybe it was the person that made this video, what does that exacly mean? I went to home depot and they were so rude, they played like they had no clue or really didnt.
