Your bench rocked! I made 65 of them for my daughters wedding and they worked perfectly for the ceremony and dinner!
I love how easy u guys make woodworking for us beginners. Not everyone is or can be a pro and you tubers forget that. So thank you for keeping it simple.
We try! Thanks so much for following along
I came to say the same. its refreshing not to be put down because I don't already know everything
So cool! My first home is old so i took apart the back deck and can reuse the 2x4x16s for these with turf grass instead of expensive landscaping love it
Simple build, I built one very similar and used a Kreg jig and pocket holes for the legs so no screws would show. Nice work! 👍🏼
This is exactly what I was looking for!! I don't know much about woodworking, but you made me feel a little more confident in making a bench. Thank you so much!
I love your channel! For a super novice like me, your instructions are perfect. I did a practice project using your bench tutorial. Took me a bit longer because my drill died as I did not have it fully charged, I adjusted my bench to 10 ", 15" & 35" because I had a lot of scrap wood to use, I had 1 x 4's so I doubled a few of those and made 4 rows for the seat instead of 3 & I added a 2x4 middle piece for extra stability underneath. Overall easy to adjust your instructions & next I will try your farm house table. Your channel is the best I came across to build an easy peasy bench. I am going to paint mine black. Mine isn't perfect but it was fun to build. Thank you for your channel, hope to see more great projects 😊
Thank you for a short, clear, and useful video!! You guys made me believe in myself and I built my first ever bench! It’s fricken awesome- cheers!!
Just got done building this Bench Thanks buddy!!!
Took me less than 45 minutes. Used three 2x4"s which I had on hand because I wanted 36" instead of 32" so it would be less cozy. Used a pneumatic framer instead of drill driver and ring shank nails. Very satisfied. Thanks.
Perfect design: elegant in its absolute build simplicity, and PERFECT for my needs! THANK YOU!!
I made two 44” X 16 3/4” benches for my giant 20” x 16” tall garden pots. I chose to use pressure treated lumber. With the extra top piece, I needed 7, 8’ pieces of lumber. Each bench came in at $52.50. I had screws, outdoor Tightbond, and outdoor stain-sealer for the project already. Your plans were perfect. I did appreciate having a Framer’s square to square up the legs. There is no way I could buy these benches for the amount I spent on them. Lumber costs have gone nuts. I knew it was going to be over a hundred dollars to build these but I was glad I went with your design. It saved a lot of lumber. Thanks again. Cheers!
Got a new miter saw last night and figured I'd break it in with this. Thanks for sharing! It was so easy and my GF loves it lol
Love how simple this is. Thanks.
the best woodworking channel for beginners hands down.
Great beginner woodworking video! I love how easy the carpentry is. Nice simple tutorial.
I love your DIY's for many reasons: 1st the aesthetics I love the way they look, clean lines & simplicity of them. 2nd puppies making appearances in videos are always a plus for me! 3rd the ease of making these DIY's. 4th the affordability factor. 5th that they are DIY and when I am finished making one of your projects I can feel good that I have made it myself! Thank you! 👍
Wow, what a great comment! Thanks so much for all of the kind words.
I was looking for a tutorial on how to make a bedside table and I think this is perfect! Gonna make 2 or 3 of these that run the length of the bed against the wall and put some cube shelvings on top!
Simple. Easy. And a great way to use up some of the random scraps of 2x4 I have.
Very cool. Nice and simple! Great job!
Well done. Simple, beautiful and reliable
Thank you..I appreciate your DIY videos.
Beautiful job! What a great idea...Thank you so much for making this video. I wish I had the tools to make one.

So good. Thanks. Gonna try this.
Good job and build thx for sharing enjoyed it Cheers
Simple, fairly cheap (with current cost of wood), and nice to see a video from you, it has been awhile.
Thanks for watching! Yeah wood prices can get a little crazy so thought a super basic build would keep costs down
Done! Simple and looks great!
Awesome!
Love your ideas
glad to ¨see¨ you again! great projects! and so easy to follow. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Wonderful
Pretty cool.
Thank you for sharing!!
Very nice!! I am actually going to do this!! Thank you!!
You’re welcome 😊
This has been the best demo....instruction.....I know its just a bench..but your way should be universal. Cant wait to see what your other projects are. Also please leave info on background music...so I can play it during construction lol....Thanks again !!!!!!!
Really nice work
I just made 2 benches for my son! It was so easy!
I've been looking for a bench for my tiny bathroom to sit on yet slide my short laundry under! Omg I could make this accommodate changing the dimensions, length and height! Hopefully somewhere can cut the pieces for me. Great video! Thanks.
That's great! And most larger home improvement stores will cut the pieces for you.
I'm a beginner and I appreciate you guys making it easy for us to build! I'm in the process of building this right now 😀
Hope it turned out great!
Thanks for the great tutorial. I made two of these out of pressured-treated 2 X 4s. They were 44” long and 16 1/2 inches wide. I built them to hold giant planters that were 20” wide and 16” tall. It took 7 8’ boards but I was able to cut and assemble them 5 hours. I’m going to seal them with an outdoor stain. I am very happy with your practical design. Lumber prices in California are still sky-high. I had the screws and the strain. For lumber alone, this bench with four top pieces to accommodate the big pots, cost $105 for two benches. For me it was worth it. I closed my eyes at the Big Box store when I checked out. I guessed it would be over a hundred. It is our new reality. I could never have bought these sturdy benches for $52.50 each. Thanks again for the great plan. Cheers!
ok so prices have stablized and are coming down, but I needed both a bench for planters and to sit on and a terrain leveler here in hilly Washington. I used landscape timbers that I stained and polyed. put the timbers a foot and 1/2 into the ground and have them two inches above it. with cedar pickets to hold the soil works great
I made this and it looks awesome! Subscribed for more
Awesome video!!!! Thank you…
Love the simple design!
Thanks!
Great video!!
Love it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Love it! Please keep the videos coming
We will!
Love it ❤️❤️
I live in the UK and I made one of these out of scrap timber from previous projects, they were not all of them were same width. However , with an electric plane this was easily sorted. To buy the sawn treated timber still cost £20 roughly 30 dollars. Tip; make sure the timber you buy is straight and not twisted !!!
done... poifect... tyfs
Brilliant!
Just built one for a piano bench, thanks!!
I'm making this today!
*update* I made it and I love it. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial. I added two extra 32" pieces to the bottom for a second shelf.
Did you have to buy another 2x4 to add the bottom pieces?
@@mstamekab1701 yes, I did.
That's great! Cool idea to add a shelf
Awesome !
Great bench! Awesome seeing you again!! : )
Thanks, awesome being here again!
LOVE IT
Muy buen trabajo, y muy fácil de hacer. Muchas Felicidades, sois Geniales .un saludo desde Barcelona Catalonia
Gracias! Hola a Barcelona!
Nice work JP. Funny, dog trick got the same result as Liz did way back, lol!!
Nice to see you change stain colors too. I have two of your benches from the old days in my cabin. With the cost of lumber these days, this is a very nice, practical, and relatively inexpensive build. Great job.
Thanks for following along over the years! Yeah neither dog seems super stoked to learn new tricks...
Muito bacana.nota 10.
Amasing thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it!
The puppy did it for me...awww 🐕🐶
Haha me too
super
I’ve made a ton of these from reclaimed 2x6 composite boards off a wood deck
Powli machane loved it India from Kerala
You guys rule
Can you do one just like that but with backrest, Thanks . I love your videos
I think some skirting would be nice on there to make it stable as well?
Nice bench using supply 2x4’s. However, I would add a third piece between the legs as a brace to give added support to keep the legs from possibly buckling. Just gives better support.
dude!!!! much love
Thanks!
I've been wanting to make a bar height small table that's skinny and will fit up against my deck handrail. Just something to set drinks and a plate on while we get in and out of our bar height chairs. Maybe this will work if I make the legs longer and add an extra support in the middle between the legs? I think I'll try it. 😊
Nice doggie
Great instructional video, but is the stain you used water resistant for outside use of the bench? Thanks.
ty
Making one today, out of treated wood.
Should work well for the outdoor smoking area. lol. 🚬
Miss these build videos.
More are on the way!
this is great for the beginner/novice woodworker...i viewed another DIY bench making and he used 6x6 cedar...really?...cost of a 4x4 cedar post already cost $30 at lowes...this DIY is so much better...thank you...
I'm excited to make this for my parents! Would anyone be able to tell me what the 1" overhang on the legs does? I kind of thought having no overhang would make it more sturdy, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong about that
Would it be easier to stain it before you put it together?
Would the bench be sturdy if built longer?
How did you poly in between the gaps?
I'm definitely going to have to pre-drill as I'm not strong enough....
Would this method work if I do it 6 foot long?
Newbie when it comes to woodworking projects. Forgive my ignorance but I have 2 questions: 1) Need to drill a pilot hole? When is that recommended? 2) Best to use a drill or an impact driver for this? What’s the rule of thumb for when to use which? Thanks! Keep the videos coming!
Whatch Steve woodworking for mortals basics woodworking
Yes you really want to use guide holes unless you maybe have self drilling screws
If the screw is fat and large
Hammer is better as it never losses grip on screw but it depends
@@shirosurfer8864 when you say 'hammer', do you mean use the impact driver he asked about?
So when is the next book coming out? I bought the 1st one!
Thanks for the support! No immediate plans for a second one at the moment but hopefully down the line at some point!
I had to sub in 2x6s for the seat boards. I didn't have any decent 2x4s.
great job as always! Whats the name of the song in the video?
It's Melodic Hip Hop by Micrah
What did you sell it for?
How many screws roughly did u use?
Just made one myself
Awesome!
