@@troylee4196 I don’t think that throws any shade on Joe Gibbs.
I am not a Redskin fan, in fact I was rooting hard against them in every Super Bowl. No denying it, he and Bill Parcels are elite championship coaches because they won with different quarterbacks.

      @@troylee4196Nah, strike shortened seasons brother.
Make no mistake about it, the dog days of the NFL season leading to the playoffs and Super Bowl, were played by seasoned vets and not the scabs of early on in the season. On top of this, The Redskins beat some teams during the strike shortened seasons that were sprinkled with vets that crossed the pickett lines; scabs nonetheless.

Actually, the bigger disappointment is that the Dolphins could have drafted HOFer Darrell Green. Green was drafted right after Marino in '83. Green played good enough to help his team win 5 championships (3 Conf. and 2 S.B.'s) while Marino played good enough to help his team win only 1 championship ('84 Conf. Champ.).

Joe T. is right about the Redskins being even better in '83, but that was in part because they drafted HOFer Darrell Green earlier that year. The worst part was for the Dolphins---they could have drafted Green, because he was drafted right after Marino was drafted by the Dolphins. What a defense Miami could have had.

Green played good enough to help his team win 5 championships (3 Conf. and 2 S.B.'s ) while Marino played good enough to help his team win only 1 championship (the '84 Conf. Champ.). Dan was bad in 75% of his championship games which obviously includes his 1 and only S.B.

In my opinion if you watch both super bowls back to back the same theme pops up. Terrible qb play by Washington fortunately for them the dolphins were just as bad in that first one. That play on the goal line as a dolphins fan still haunts me. Possibly the best play in a Super Bowl when you take into account how the game would have gone if the interception is made.

I'm a lifelong Eagles fan and I can certainly relate to your pain. In last year's SB our RT flinched on 3rd and 1 and everyone knew we were gonna do the Tush Push which the Chiefs couldn't stop. It would've been an easy first down and if you remember the Chiefs couldn't stop us in the first half so more than likely the Eagles would've scored at least a FG if that drive had continued. The situation went from 3rd and 1 to 3rd and 6 and on the next play Hurts was hit, fumbled and it was returned for a TD....more than likely a 10 point swing. We never should've lost that SB and it's particulatly galling when I think back to that one play.

For the bragging rights growing up in the Bay Area the Raiders destroying the 49er's in the Super Bowl would have ended all doubts who ruled the Bay. This was the closest it ever came to actually happening and since 1970 I was begging for it to happen.

That Theisman throw is, at best, the second greatest incompletion in the history of the Super Bowl. Mahomes getting tripped up, and while his body is in the air and horizontal (parallel to the ground) he threw a sidearm spiral that hit Darrell Williams in the facemask in the endzone... a roughly 30 yard pass which Williams dropped. It might be the greatest incompletion in the history of football, not just the Super Bowl.

I really think the refs strategically throw or hold onto flags to effect the outcome, especially since the NFL openly embraced gambling (holding, PI, roughing the passer could be realistically called almost every down)…but I doubt the games are fully rigged. If they were then I think the Jets, Chargers, Rams, Cowboys, and Giants would be in a hell of a lot more Super Bowls. Big markets=big money.
