I'm a lifelong Eagles fan and I can certainly relate to your pain. In last year's SB our RT flinched on 3rd and 1 and everyone knew we were gonna do the Tush Push which the Chiefs couldn't stop. It would've been an easy first down and if you remember the Chiefs couldn't stop us in the first half so more than likely the Eagles would've scored at least a FG if that drive had continued. The situation went from 3rd and 1 to 3rd and 6 and on the next play Hurts was hit, fumbled and it was returned for a TD....more than likely a 10 point swing. We never should've lost that SB and it's particulatly galling when I think back to that one play.

For the bragging rights growing up in the Bay Area the Raiders destroying the 49er's in the Super Bowl would have ended all doubts who ruled the Bay. This was the closest it ever came to actually happening and since 1970 I was begging for it to happen.

That Theisman throw is, at best, the second greatest incompletion in the history of the Super Bowl. Mahomes getting tripped up, and while his body is in the air and horizontal (parallel to the ground) he threw a sidearm spiral that hit Darrell Williams in the facemask in the endzone... a roughly 30 yard pass which Williams dropped. It might be the greatest incompletion in the history of football, not just the Super Bowl.
Tough QB wish he would not rationalize the butt kicking by the Raiders . Basically he said I didn’t care as much after that Super Bowl win which to me wasn’t real because of strike
Class act that Joe is. But next year, Superbowl 18, 1/22/1984 Joe and his Redskins were served up 38-9 on a silver platter, and the platter was bent.1983 Raiders one of the greatest football teams ever.
No way the Redskins were going to beat the Raiders. Redskins were good ALL year but the Raiders peaked in the playoffs. Got better with each game and the SB was there best game of the year.
I really think the refs strategically throw or hold onto flags to effect the outcome, especially since the NFL openly embraced gambling (holding, PI, roughing the passer could be realistically called almost every down)…but I doubt the games are fully rigged. If they were then I think the Jets, Chargers, Rams, Cowboys, and Giants would be in a hell of a lot more Super Bowls. Big markets=big money.
Sports are clear;y rigged and the players are in on it (they get paid very well) , But its funny to see this in an older game, kim bokamper clearly tried NOT to catch that ball as it was very easy and Theisman did not affect the play at all

@@dennismumford6108 In the 85 one, he didn't play great, but the defense didn't, either. In 1992, they only ran the ball 11 times against an average Buffalo defense. There's no excuse for that.
In my opinion if you watch both super bowls back to back the same theme pops up. Terrible qb play by Washington fortunately for them the dolphins were just as bad in that first one. That play on the goal line as a dolphins fan still haunts me. Possibly the best play in a Super Bowl when you take into account how the game would have gone if the interception is made.
Notre Dame
I don't mean to denigrate Theisman's role in a Superbowl victory, but as I recall, John Riggins ran rampant. Hardly great QB leadership.
Riggins was a beast and unstoppable in that game. If I recall, Riggins set a Super Bowl record for rushing in that game.
@@jamesspalten5977 I don't know if his record still stands, but he gained over 160 yards, straight up the gut. Beast ain't the word for it. More like a rhinoceros.
70 Chip
Joe Montana won a few too
Joe Theismann's ego is being considered for planethood because there is nothing on Earth bigger.
LOL ... wouldn't have mattered Joe ....... NOBODY were beating the Raiders that day. My biggest regret that year was the Niners losing to Washington in the NFC Championship. For the bragging rights growing up in the Bay Area the Raiders destroying the 49er's in the Super Bowl would have ended all doubts who ruled the Bay. This was the closest it ever came to actually happening and since 1970 I was begging for it to happen.
If the team was as focused and determined as they were the year before they would have won that game. That Redskins team is one of the greatest teams in NFL history. It wasn't just Joe, but John Riggins, Dock Walker, Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm were all out drinking till 7am the DAY of the game. They were half in the bag during the Super Bowl.
Do you think these two talk about hair?
Go REDSKINS
That Theisman throw is, at best, the second greatest incompletion in the history of the Super Bowl. Mahomes getting tripped up, and while his body is in the air and horizontal (parallel to the ground) he threw a sidearm spiral that hit Darrell Williams in the facemask in the endzone... a roughly 30 yard pass which Williams dropped. It might be the greatest incompletion in the history of football, not just the Super Bowl.
He cheats on his wife and abandons his family. Then LT snaps his leg ending his career. God has a sense of humor.
Tough QB wish he would not rationalize the butt kicking by the Raiders . Basically he said I didn’t care as much after that Super Bowl win which to me wasn’t real because of strike
‘It changed me for the worse’. Gee Joe, is that possible?
Class act that Joe is. But next year, Superbowl 18, 1/22/1984 Joe and his Redskins were served up 38-9 on a silver platter, and the platter was bent.1983 Raiders one of the greatest football teams ever.
No way the Redskins were going to beat the Raiders. Redskins were good ALL year but the Raiders peaked in the playoffs. Got better with each game and the SB was there best game of the year.
Wonder if they rigged the games back then too....
Super Bowl 18 was rigged for sure
Too bad the Lions didn't get that play. Bummer.
Agreed.
How long has Joe Buck been doing this? Its bad enough having to listen to his horrible play by play
He went too high on Riggo..
The Redskins shoulda beat the Raiders!!
I'm still pissed to this day.
Sports are clear;y rigged and the players are in on it (they get paid very well) , But its funny to see this in an older game, kim bokamper clearly tried NOT to catch that ball as it was very easy and Theisman did not affect the play at all
It definitely changed him for the worse professionally and personally. He left his wife for Cathy Lee Crosby after having an affair with her and his wife found out he had filed for divorce in the newspaper.
I was there They decapitated the dolphins franchise it was so bad that Seaworld went out in Disneyland came back trending btw sea world was better but now it’s not
The Redskins were never in the game vs the Raiders on BLACK SUNDAY
guy was an arrogant ass on mnf
Joe Theismann was NOT the leader of that team. John Rigging and the Hogs were.
Redskins LOST Super Bowl of 1983 season. The 1983 Super Bowl was vs the Raiders. The game is played in January or Feb but it counts for the calendar year/season of the previous season..
